Zhang Gil Jah Chairwoman, International WeLoveU Foundation

This statement above is an excerpt of a World Mission Society Church of God sermon given by the Chairwoman in October of 2012. In addition to her role as Chairwoman of the International WeLoveU Foundation, Zhang Gil Jah is also known as “god the mother” in the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG). Her followers believe that she is god in the flesh, and that salvation from eternal hellfire can only be obtained through her and the WMSCOG’s numerous other requirements. The World Mission Society Church of God is considered to be a doomsday cult by many former members and families that have lost contact with loved ones after they joined the group. In recent years, the controversial religious group has become very active in their communities all around the world through the WeLoveU Foundation, a front organization created to deceptively recruit members of the public into the church. Serious consideration should be given to the information provided below before becoming affiliated with, or providing financial support to the WeLoveU Foundation.

A front organization is any entity set up by and controlled by another organization, such as intelligence agencies, organized crime groups, terrorist organizations, secret societies, banned organizations, religious or political groups, advocacy groups, or corporations. Front organizations can act for the parent group without the actions being attributed to the parent group, thereby allowing them to hide certain activities from the authorities or the public.

What is the WeLoveU Foundation?

The International WeLoveU Foundation is purported to be a global charity who’s charitable works include disaster relief, blood drives and environmental clean up projects. The Foundation’s official website states that the charity “aims to make the world a better place where everybody is respected and where sustainable peace is achieved.” The charity also displays the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards it received in 2019 and 2020.

Who is behind the WeLoveU Foundation?

The World Mission Society Church of God is not referenced on the International WeLoveU Foundation’s website, though there are numerous connections between the two organizations. According to the WeLoveU Foundation’s website, Zhang Gil Jah, the same woman the WMSCOG believes is “god the mother,” is the Chairwoman of the organization. A statement from the Chairwoman states in part:

We feel sorry about the present situation and thus make efforts to share happiness. For a healthy society and a hopeful future, we would like to share love with our neighbors in need through systematic and practical welfare services and want to bring hope to those in despair. We look forward to your constant concern and support for the growth of the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation.
God bless you!

Zhang Gil Jah Chairwoman, Intl. WeLoveU Foundation

This statement is in stark contrast to the aforementioned statement made by Zhang Gil Jah in her sermon. The statement by Zhang Gil Jah on the WeLoveU Foundation’s website projects a message about love, happiness and overall concern for public wellbeing. The statement the Chairwoman makes in her role as “god the mother” in her sermon demonstrates her actual intention, to experience joy while watching non-World Mission Society Church of God members being burned to death. This contradiction brings the true motives behind the WeLoveU Foundation’s charitable works into question.

What is the connection between the WeLoveU Foundation & the WMSCOG leadership?

In the United States, the WeLoveU Foundation is currently headquartered in New Windsor, New York (previously in Oradell, New Jersey). In a publicly available tax record filed by the WeLoveU Foundation in 2021, the following board members are listed on page 7 (see complete filing below):

The same names, Daniel Lee, John Casas and Iven Rodriguez, are listed on the WeLoveU Foundation’s certificate of incorporation in the state of New Jersey (highlighted on page 2 below).

According to their website, the International WeLoveU Foundation hosted an event called Save the World Global Forum in 2018. Zhang Gil Jah can be seen in a photo with General Pastor Joo Cheol Kim and U.S. East Coast Pastor Dong Il Lee. Joo Cheol Kim is identified as the Vice Chairman of the foundation. Note that there is no mention of the fact that these three individuals are the top leaders of the World Mission Society Church of God in South Korea and the United States.

Public documents from a Town Hall meeting in New Windsor, New York, reveal that the WeLoveU Foundation offered to purchase the property at 18 Snake Hill Rd for $580,000. The buyer agent listed on behalf of the WeLoveU Foundation is Saira Ahmed, WMSCOG member (see highlighted portions below, the entire agenda and related documents are available here).

Note that the World Mission Society Church of God has a large compound nearby in New Windsor, New York as well. While the WeLoveU Foundation and the World Mission Society Church of God in New Jersey are incorporated separately for tax purposes, they cannot be considered completely unrelated.

Does the WeLoveU Foundation disclose any association with the WMSCOG?

An archive of the WeLoveU Foundation’s website for their Denver location shows that there was a clear connection to the WMSCOG. In what is presumably an effort to erase any evidence of a relationship between the two organizations, these images have since been removed.

In a memo for a WeLoveU event titled Mother’s Love Feeds the Hungry, organized by WMSCOG Missionary Rebecca Gardner (aka Parker) and fellow member Saira Ahmed, it is clearly communicated to the local churches that during this event there is to be no mention of any affiliation with the WMSCOG. Interestingly, mentioning the Chairwoman Zhang Gil Jah seemed to be encouraged. The members who were assigned to deliver the food were tasked with “tak[ing] clear pictures of senior citizens (who have signed the waiver) with WeLoveU members.” While delivering food to the elderly in itself is a noble cause, it appears that the event was a public relations stunt designed for WeLoveU propaganda (see the highlighted portions on page 2).

WeLoveU-Memo-Mothers-Love-Feeds-The-Hungry-Redacted

Similarly, in another memo that was circulated among church leaders regarding a walkathon in 2018, it was again made clear that WMSCOG members were not to mention any affiliation with the religious group while at the WeLoveU event. Members were also reminded that they were to call each other by name, not title, and to be aware that there would be cameras and other people watching. In other words, pretend to be normal (see highlighted portions on page 3).

New-Life-Walkathon-Memo-1

What is the purpose of the WeLoveU Foundation events according to the WMSCOG?

The walkathon memo above, instructs leaders to “help them [WMSCOG members] understand that this is a different kind of preaching event.” In the WMSCOG, “preaching” is another word for recruiting new members into the church.

The same message was communicated in a memo for a WeLoveU blood drive. This memo specifically instructed WMSCOG leadership not to read the memo to WMSCOG members. The memo clearly states in all caps that this kind of event only exists for preaching (or recruiting) purposes. So here we have at least two WeLoveU events that were organized for the purpose of recruiting new members into the WMSCOG.

Members were also instructed to give a “minimum suggested freewill offering” of $20 to the admin person in the church, not the WeLoveU Foundation. In the “What NOT to do!” section of the memo, it states “Please do not mention anything about the Church of God. The International WeLoveU Foundation and the Church of God are separate entities,” followed by another reminder to act normal in front of media and guests (see highlighted portions throughout the memo).

Blood-Drive-Memo-Email-Redacted

While is indisputable that World Mission Society Church of God and the WeLoveU Foundation are separate entities legally, functionally the WeLoveU Foundation is just a front group that was created to deceptively recruit more members into the WMSCOG. WMSCOG members are taught that recruiting new members is the way to salvation, therefore, from the WMSCOG’s perspective the ends justify the means.

What should you consider before supporting the WeLoveU Foundation?

Are front groups unique to the WMSCOG?

The World Mission Society Church of God is by no means considered a pioneer in the realm of deceptive recruitment. Front groups have long been an integral part of destructive cults. Scientology has been known to use front groups to recruit members into their cult since before the WMSCOG even existed. The Unification Church (aka the Moonies) has quite an exhaustive list of known front groups.

A message for current WMSCOG members

If you are a current World Mission Society Member who is working tirelessly for salvation because “father is coming soon,” note that the WeLoveU Foundation claims to be determined “to have a clean world not only for this generation but especially for future generations” on page 14 of the 2018 tax filing below. Ask yourself what future generations they are referring to while the WMSCOG continues to brainwash you into believing that the end of the world is near. Ask yourself what difference it makes whether the world is clean or not if it is all going to burn as Zhang Gil Jah claims in her sermon. How much more time, energy, money and other resources are you willing to give to a such a deceptive and toxic organization like the World Mission Society Church of God?

WeLoveU Foundation 990 Filing for 2021

Though current members may deny this, the World Mission Society Church of God teaches a study called “Six Day Creation” in which they conclude that the curse placed on Noah’s son Ham is the cause of black skin, the justification for slavery and the origin of the entire Black race. They also believe that Noah’s sons Shem and Japeth represent the origins of the Asian and Caucasian races respectively. This horrid distortion of the Bible can not be credited to Ahn Sahng Hong or Zahng Gil Jah, and is not unique to the World Mission Society Church of God. Ellen G. White, Seventh Day Adventist “prophetess,” according to Ahn Sahng Hong, wrote:

The unnatural crime of Ham declared that filial reverence had long before been cast from his soul, and it revealed the impiety and vileness of his character. These evil characteristics were perpetuated in Canaan and his posterity, whose continued guilt called upon them the judgments of God…
On the other hand, the reverence manifested by Shem and Japheth for their father, and thus for the divine statutes, promised a brighter future for their descendants…
The posterity of Canaan descended to the most degrading forms of heathenism. Though the prophetic curse had doomed them to slavery, the doom was withheld for centuries.
God bore with their impiety and corruption until they passed the limits of divine forbearance. Then they were dispossessed, and became bondmen to the descendants of Shem and Japheth.

Ellen G. White Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapter 10, The Tower of Babel

It comes at no surprise that Ahn Sahng Hong, having been a Seventh Day Adventist himself, would pass on Ellen G. White’s ideology.

In the past, former World Mission Society Church of God members have made allegations of racism within the WMSCOG. This resulted in various responses from current members denying the allegations.

Is the World Mission Society Church of God racist if they have Black members?

Are the Black members treated equally? Some say no. Recently, a former member of the Manchester, UK WMSCOG location named Luke, talked about the racism he experienced in a YouTube video with Jordan Hatfield of Great Light Studios (timestamp 49:23). According to Luke, the Korean pastor in Manchester, while arranging members for a video recording, said to him “Brother this is the UK, England, Queen, White people. If we show a DVD to the members around the world of Manchester Zion…it looks like you see the church in Africa not the UK, so when the White members come we need to put them at the front.”

Does racism lurk beneath the surface of the World Mission Society Church of God?

On November 18, 2011, a memo about the upcoming “Family Day” in the New Jersey area was circulated among WMSCOG leaders. Family Day is an event that the WMSCOG organizes in order to appear fun or normal to the public, and to recruit new members. The memo was said to be only for church leaders and only the necessary points were to be communicated to the members. In the memo (available below) it states:

Representatives: The 5 representatives chosen from each Zion should preferably be white (no Korean either).

This is quite consistent with Luke’s account above. Why did the WMSCOG prefer that the 5 representatives from each WMSCOG location be white, and specifically, “no Korean either?” Was it for the optics?

Is this the only documented instance of racism in the World Mission Society Church of God?

On February 20, 2012, a program called the “Armor of God” was being implemented in the World Mission Society Church of God in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and presumably in other locations under the NJ branch’s control. As part of this indoctrination program, which will be posted separately, is what is called “Preaching Discernment Training.” In this document (also available below), WMSCOG gospel workers are advised that:

Preaching to ghetto people is a waste of time.

According to dictionary.com, the definition of the word “ghetto” when used as an adjective in the context in which the WMSCOG applies the pejorative term, is:

Slang: Often Disparaging and Offensive. Noting something that is considered to be unrefined, low-class, cheap, or inferior.

Who does the World Mission Society Church of God consider to be superior? Well, according to the “Six Day Creation” study, the memo below and Luke’s experience in Manchester, one can easily conclude that the WMSCOG considers White people superior. In support of this conclusion, as part of the same training, the WMSCOG also makes the following point:

We cannot bring people who look lower than me, or just like me. We need to preach to people who look better than me.

The above statement proves that the World Mission Society Church of God is using the word “ghetto” in a way that is consistent with the dictionary’s definition of the term. Accordingly, the World Mission Society Church of God would seem to prefer that gospel workers recruit White people.

Why is this important?

It is more than likely that current Black members of the World Mission Society Church of God would never have joined the organization had they known that once indoctrinated, they would be taught that their entire race was cursed by God. People deserve the right to make an informed decision. Members of the public have a right to know if an organization that heavily recruits worldwide has a racist ideology, before joining. Current WMSCOG members who have witnessed unequal treatment of Black people and other minorities within the organization, and deny it, are part of the problem.

According to the World Health Organization, 264 million people globally suffer from depression. Depression is believed to be caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. A study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2010, determined that in 2007 the United States national treatment rate for depression was less than 3%.

Depression-loss of loved one

In a sermon titled, “We can do everything in God” presumably authored by WMSCOG pastor Joo Cheol Kim, dated August 18, 2012 (embedded below), he discusses depression among members, but begins with two versions the same infantile story about an “arrogant rabbit” and a “slow turtle” that engage in a race to the finish line. The turtle wins the race in both versions because the rabbit decides to take a nap halfway through. The moral of the more widely known version of this story is, never underestimate the weakest opponent. In the strange “new version,” according to Joo Cheol Kim, the “slow turtle” is bullied by other animals, and the rabbit, while remaining “arrogant,” develops a sense of empathy and purposely allows the turtle to win the race. In an even stranger segue into the topic of depression, Joo Cheol Kim suggests that the moral of this new version is that there is a “story behind the story” in the Bible.

It is not clear what the story about the rabbit and the turtle have to do with depression, but we will come back to this later.

What does the World Mission Society Church of God teach its members about depression?

What makes us complain, grumble and feel depressed is the doubts in our hearts…But if any member still feels depressed, that member does not understand God’s will or the value of the truth, nor do they have the hope for heaven. Now, let us get rid of sorrow and sighing in Zion.

Joo Cheol Kim August 18, 2012

As in any cult group, any feelings of unhappiness experienced by the member (or victim) are never the fault of the organization or leader. Instead, the blame is shifted solely onto the member‘s “doubts,” lack of faith, or other perceived weaknesses. A practice otherwise commonly known as victim-blaming. Clearly the World Mission Society Church of God is aware that some of their members are unhappy. So what is the WMSCOG’s solution to this problem?

What is the solution for depression according to the World Mission Society Church of God?

God has freed Their children from depression here in Zion because we have faith and hope and also share love with each other. If any of you is suffering from depression, preach hard! Then you will get “spiritual serotonin” in your brain, and all the problems will be solved.

Joo Cheol Kim August 18, 2012

According to Joo Cheol Kim, the solution to depression and “all the problems,” is not to seek medical attention or psychotherapy, but instead to recruit more members for the organization. While the “high” induced by the love-bombing a member is likely to receive from the leadership as a result of successful recruitment of more members may provide temporary relief of depressive symptoms, underlying depression will not be cured by this so-called “spiritual serotonin.” Instead, if left untreated members may experience long term effects of depression. Depression not only increases suicide risk, but is a known risk factor for the development of physiological conditions such as coronary artery disease, diabetes and uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure).

Let’s Fact Check the “True Church”

People suffer from depression when they lack “serotonin” which is thought to be a contributor to feelings of happiness.

Joo Cheol Kim August 18, 2012

While serotonin may be the neurotransmitter most commonly associated with depression, serotonin is only one of numerous neurotransmitters, such as norepinephrine and dopamine, that may be “lacking” in someone suffering from depression. You would think that “god,” and “creator of all things” including the neurological system, would have informed Joo Cheol Kim of this fact.

Recently, depression has been a national problem. It is said that among the OECD countries, the country, where the percentage of people who suffer from depression is the highest, is South Korea.

Joo Cheol Kim August 18, 2012

The suicide rates reported by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2012 demonstrate that Lithuania had a higher suicide rate than South Korea in 2012. Surely the all-knowing “god” would not have to wait for a worldly organization such as the OECD to compile their data in order for the information communicated to members in the sermon to be accurate.

But what about the Rabbit and the Turtle?

Let’s not forget the defeat of the rabbit who was happy to sacrifice himself for his friend, and let us also sacrifice ourselves for our brothers and sisters, and our Father and Mother with that kind of faith…Like the 2012 version of the Rabbit and the Turtle, if you look at negative things with a positive point of view, you will be able to find a beautiful story behind them. If you believe God’s prophecies and promise and try to find the deep will of God, anybody can find joy and gladness.

Joo Cheol Kim August 18, 2012

After reading the above statement by Joo Cheol Kim, it becomes clear that the WMSCOG’s expectation is that the member sacrifice him or herself so that the organization “wins the race.” To do so is a demonstration of “that kind of faith” that requires the member to essentially ignore their own emotions.

In addition, Joo Cheol Kim provides yet another example of blame shifting. The statement above clearly implies that if a member is unhappy, he or she has failed to view their depression or “negative things” with a “positive point of view.” Therefore, by this twisted logic, if a member experiences depression, they have brought it onto themselves as a result of their own failing to follow the cult leadership’s instructions and demands.

Why is this important?

In essence, membership within a totalistic, controlling, coercive group such as the WMSCOG, creates the perfect storm for members who are experiencing feelings of depression. Lack of sleep, stress, adverse life events, such as unemployment, loss of a loved one, break up or divorce, illness or psychological trauma are just some of the contributing factors to depression. The World Mission Society has a long history of divisiveness among families, marriages, friendships and other types of interpersonal relationships. Members have reported sleep deprivation, stress and loss of employment due to the cult’s extreme demand for their time and energy. And yet the World Mission Society Church of God, amidst the internal chaos created by their own teachings, and in a blatant show of hypocrisy, urges members to “be joyful always.”

If you or someone you know is dealing with depression, call 1−800−273−TALK (8255) to reach a 24−hour crisis center or dial 911. 1−800−273−TALK is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

As discussed in previous articles, the World Mission Society Church of God claims that Ahn Sahng Hong wrote Problems with the New Jerusalem, the Bride and Women’s Veils as a “temporary measure” in order to discredit a false prophet named Um Soo In. If you only read the Preface, as most WMSCOG members do, this explanation for why Ahn Sahng Hong wrote his book may be plausible. Yet, beyond the Preface is a mountain of evidence that Ahn Sahng Hong’s book applies to Zahng Gil Jah as well.

Who Is the King of Heaven in the Bible?

In the Bible, God is referred to as the King of Heaven:

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

Daniel 4:37

The World Mission Society Church of God essentially claims that the God required a female counterpart in order to create, because human reproduction requires a male and female. It is well known that the WMSCOG claims that Genesis 1:26 proves that there is a God the father and “god the mother” because God is referred to in the plural tense. Therefore, by the WMSCOG’s exegesis of Scripture, if the male image of God is the King of Heaven, there should be a female counterpart, the Queen of Heaven.

Who is the Queen of Heaven in the Bible?

The Queen of Heaven is referenced twice in the book of Jeremiah:

The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger.

Jeremiah 7:18

The women added, “When we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes impressed with her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?” Then Jeremiah said to all the people, both men and women, who were answering him, “Did not the LORD remember and call to mind the incense burned in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem by you and your ancestors, your kings and your officials and the people of the land? When the LORD could no longer endure your wicked actions and the detestable things you did, your land became a curse and a desolate waste without inhabitants, as it is today.

Jeremiah 44:19-22

After reading the above referenced verses, it becomes clear that worship of a female deity or Queen of Heaven is seen by God as worshipping another god. Recently a former member informed me that when he asked his overseer about the above verses, he was told “not to look at that stuff, it’s a trap and doesn’t represent mother.” According to this former member, the World Mission Society Church of God claims that there are three parts to the bible:

  • man’s false writing due to a misunderstanding of what God said to them;
  • Satan’s hand; and
  • God’s absolute truth.

So the only way anyone can follow the bible accurately is if God (referring to Zahng Gil Jah) is here to teach them. Information control is one of the hallmark characteristics of a cult. A cult’s main objective is to exert total control over its members. A member’s belief in the WMSCOG’s claim that they are the gatekeepers of Biblical interpretation, allows this cult to use their interpretation to exert control over all aspects of the member’s life.

Did Ahn Sahng Hong Agree?

In Chapter 17 of Problems with the New Jerusalem, the Bride and Women’s Veils, titled A Curse is Received by Making an Offering to the Queen of Heaven Ahn Sahng Hong wrote:

Um Soo In fulfills the prophecy of the Jeremiah by claiming that she alone came down to this earth from the New Jerusalem and that people must serve her in order to receive great blessings. (quotes Jeremiah 7:18)

Um Soo In claims that she is the only bride, the new heavens and the New Jerusalem. Through this, she becomes a queen and she receive tithes that should be given to Melchizedek. She raises herself up as if she is greater than God.

How arrogant and insolent an act is this? How long will God be patient with her? (quotes Jeremiah 7:18-20)

This prophecy is said to refer to the Roman Catholic Church worshipping Mary but it becomes more clearer evidence against Um Soo In.

Ahn Sahng Hong Chapter 17 A Curse is Received by Making an Offering to the Queen of Heaven

It is clear from the above passages that Ahn Sahng Hong did not believe in a female deity of any kind. Ahn Sahng Hong actually believed that the Devil would utilize women to cause confusion inside the Church. The World Mission Society Church of God’s belief that Zahng Gil Jah is the mother god is in complete contradiction with what Ahn Sahng Hong wrote and taught his followers. In fact, the WMSCOG makes the same exact claims about Zahng Gil Jah that Ahn Sahng Hong says are false. The WMSCOG claims that Zahng Gil Jah (Jang Gil Ja):

It is no wonder that the World Mission Society Church of God does not want members to read these verses and even goes as far as to say that these verses are a “trap.” After reading about the Queen of Heaven in Jeremiah and Ahn Sahng Hong’s interpretation of the same verses, it is evident that the idea of a mother god is an outright deception.

In a previous article, we provided proof that Ahn Sahng Hong’s teachings about the non-existence of a “god the mother” in his book Problems With the New Jerusalem, the Bride and Women’s Veils, could not have been temporary and therefore still apply to Zahng Gil Jah. In order for the World Mission Society Church of God’s argument that Ahn Sahng Hong’s teaching about women in the church was temporary and only applicable to Um Soo In, all of the teachings in Ahn Sahng Hong’s book would have to meet the same criteria. Ask yourself how the World Mission Society Church of God come to the sweeping conclusion that Ahn Sahng Hong briefly wrote this book in order to “conceal the truth until the appointed time” after only reading the Preface? Some members have said on social media that Ahn Sahng Hong only wrote his book to expose a false prophet (Um Soo In). Does the WMSCOG do that with any of Ahn Sahng Hong’s other books? Why doesn’t the WMSCOG encourage members to read the entire book and decide for themselves if Ahn Sahng Hong’s teachings apply to Zahng Gil Jah (Jang Gil Ja) as well?

Was Ahn Sahng Hong’s “scandalous” teaching about Isaac marrying his mother temporary?

In his book, Ahn Sahng Hong claims that Um Soo In believed that he was Isaac, and therefore Jesus. In disproving Um Soo In’s interpretation of Galatians 4:22-24, Ahn Sahng Hong concluded that it was “scandalous” to believe that the Heavenly Jerusalem represented a “god the mother” because that would mean that Isaac, or Jesus, married his mother. Ahn Sahng Hong wrote:

Nevertheless, Um Soo In claims that she is the Heavenly Jerusalem and that she has come down to earth.  According to the prophecy of Galatians 4:22-24, Sarah is the Heavenly Jerusalem.  However, if the New Jerusalem is Um Soo In, she has then married her son.  The reason for this is that Isaac is the son of Sarah, and it is said that Isaac is also Christ. (Gal. 3:16)

Um Soo In has then become the mother of Christ as well as the bride (wife) of Christ.

Um Soo In states that I am Isaac with weakness of sight while claiming that she is Sarah, who is the Heavenly Jerusalem.  She is then saying that she will live with Isaac who is her son.  How extremely scandalous is this?  With this type of misguided delusion, she has become a false prophet and has attempted to gain power.  Please think of what will become of her sin and the sin of those who follow after her. (Isa. 9:16)

Chapter 7 The Jerusalem in Heaven is Our Mother

What happens when you substitute Um Soo In with Zahng Gil Jah?

You can easily replace Um Soo In’s name with Zahng Gil Jah’s name and see that the meaning of the above paragraphs remains the same.

Nevertheless, Zhang Gil Jah claims that she is the Heavenly Jerusalem and that she has come down to earth.  According to the prophecy of Galatians 4:22-24, Sarah is the Heavenly Jerusalem.  However, if the New Jerusalem is Zhang Gil Jah, she has then married her son.  The reason for this is that Isaac is the son of Sarah, and it is said that Isaac is also Christ. (Gal. 3:16)

Zhang Gil Jah has then become the mother of Christ as well as the bride (wife) of Christ.

Zhang Gil Jah states that I am Isaac with weakness of sight while claiming that she is Sarah, who is the Heavenly Jerusalem.  She is then saying that she will live with Isaac who is her son.  How extremely scandalous is this?  With this type of misguided delusion, she has become a false prophet and has attempted to gain power.  Please think of what will become of her sin and the sin of those who follow after her. (Isa. 9:16)

Setting aside that Ahn Sahng Hong believed that the New Jerusalem was not a person, when replacing Um Soo In’s name with Zahng Gil Jah’s name, the overall meaning of Ahn Sahng Hong’s words does not change. How could Ahn Sahng Hong’s scriptural interpretation change just because the name of the woman changes? It cannot, because whoever claims to be the Heavenly Jerusalem, would still be marrying her son in the above scenario. The Bible warns that incest is a sin (Leviticus 18:6-7, specifically between a mother and son). If Ahn Sahng Hong’s claims in this book were supposed to be a “temporary measures law,” why would he include claims, that when changed in the future for Zahng Gil Jah, would not only directly contradict the Bible, but would also be sinful? This is just one of the many reasons why Zahng Gil Jah, a divorced woman, cannot be god.

The World Mission Society Church of God’s “temporary measures law” explanation would also mean that Ahn Sahng Hong was deceitful in his writings about the non-existence of a “mother god.” Ahn Sahng Hong could not have been the Second Coming of Jesus because Jesus was without sin and no deceit was found in His mouth (1 Peter 2:22).

The World Mission Society Church of God leadership has argued that the book written by Ahn Sahng Hong about Um Soo In in 1983, does not apply to Zahng Gil Jah. But an in depth look of Ahn Sahng Hong’s book easily proves otherwise. The WMSCOG specifically focuses on certain parts of the Preface of Ahn Sahng Hong’s book, but nothing else. The WMSCOG claims that Ahn Sahng Hong wrote the book about Um Soo In “briefly” and that the book was a temporary measure that does not apply to Zahng Gil Jah. Yet the word briefly does not even appear in the Preface of Problems With the New Jerusalem, the Bride and Women’s Veils and nothing in his book would suggest that it would not apply to anyone else. In fact, Ahn Sahng Hong claims the opposite.

Was the purpose of Ahn Sahng Hong’s book temporary?

The WMSCOG also claims that Ahn Sahng Hong’s purpose for writing the book was a “temporary measure law,” “special measures law” or “provisional law,” meaning that the claims in the book were only temporary and would somehow change at some point. In actuality, the very first sentence in the Preface states that Ahn Sahng Hong’s purpose for writing the book:

The WMSCOG also claims that Ahn Sahng Hong’s purpose for writing the book was a “temporary measure law,” “special measures law” or “provisional law,” meaning that the claims in the book were only temporary and would somehow change at some point. In actuality, the very first sentence in the Preface states that Ahn Sahng Hong’s purpose for writing the book:

This booklet was published to prevent troublemakers who misinterpret and behave fanatically, explain the errors in the books that Um Soo In published and testify of the unchanging truth of the Church of our God.

Ahn Sahng Hong Preface

The claims in Ahn Sahng Hong’s book cannot be temporary and unchanging at the same time. Both cannot be true. Why would Ahn Sahng Hong say that the claims in his book were the unchanging truth of the Church, if he knew he would change his mind a few months later? The World Mission Society Church of God alleges that Ahn Sahng Hong “revealed” Zahng Gil Jah as “the bride” during the last Passover he celebrated. The book was written in October of 1983 and Ahn Sahng Hong celebrated the last Passover before his death only 6 months after he published his book, in April of 1984. Then is it realistic that after Problems With the New Jerusalem, the Bride and Women’s Veils was published and circulated among the congregation, that they were then collected as the WMSCOG claims?

Why does the WMSCOG only focus on the Preface of the book?

It is obvious that the World Mission Society Church of God leadership only focuses on the Preface to prevent members from reading past the first page. The WMSCOG does not want members to read Ahn Sahng Hong’s book in its entirety and realize for themselves that Ahn Sahng Hong could never have believed in a “god the mother.” Ahn Sahng Hong actually believed that women who spoke out in the church would cause church members to “fall under the deception of the devil.” This statement would apply to all women, not just Um Soo In.

Ahn Sahng Hong’s book does NOT only apply to Um Soo In.

In his book Problems With the New Jerusalem, the Bride and Women’s Veils, Ahn Sahng Hong writes:

There is never a time when the activity of Satan is cut off in the true Church. The Apostle Paul has written as follows that the Devil will utilize women to cause confusion inside the Church.

Ahn Sahng Hong Chapter 19 The Claim of the Woman is the Temptation of the Devil

Ahn Sahng Hong said “women” plural. Therefore, his teaching on the subject does not only apply to Um Soo In, but to women in general that might make similar claims. Ahn Sahng Hong goes on to quote the Apostle Paul:

A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

1 Timothy 2:11-14

Ahn Sahng Hong further claims that the above verses are a “prophecy” about his church.

Through the prophecy of 1 Timothy 2:11-14 mentioning Adam and Eve, it is evident that this prophecy was made without doubt of our Church during this present time.

Ahn Sahng Hong Chapter 19 The Claim of the Woman is the Temptation of the Devil

Prophecies can be fulfilled more than once and by more than one person. Jesus said “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them” (Luke 21:8). It is well documented that this prophecy about false Christs has been fulfilled numerous times. Accepting Ahn Sahng Hong’s scriptural interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:11-14 as correct (for the sake of argument), the prophecy has been fulfilled by Um Soo In, Zhang Gil Jah and even Hak Ja Han, the “true mother” of the Unification Church (aka the Moonies).

(Click here for a comparison of Ahn Sahng Hong’s teachings vs. those of Sun Myung Moon.)

Why else does this argument fail?

Ahn Sahng Hong goes on to explain:

By observing the claims of Um Soo In that she is Eve, it can be seen that it was stated that “a woman should learn in quietness and full submission” and “I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet” looking ahead to when Um Soo In (the woman) would claim that she is the bride and the New Jerusalem that has come down from Heaven. By seeing that it was said of Adam and Eve in Genesis that “for Adam was formed first, then Eve” and “Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner,” it is clear that it is a prophecy of Um Soo In. It is a prophecy that if the claims of Um Soo In (the woman) are followed the Church will come to ruin under the deception of the Devil.

Ahn Sahng Hong Chapter 19 The Claim of the Woman is the Temptation of the Devil

Just as Um Soo In claimed that she was Eve, the bride and the New Jerusalem that came down from Heaven, the World Mission Society Church of God claims that Zhang Gil Jah is Eve, the bride and the New Jerusalem that came down from Heaven. Ahn Sahng Hong said that Um Soo In’s followers would “come to ruin under the deception of the Devil” as a result of their belief in her claims because she is a woman. There is nothing in Ahn Sahng Hong’s book that would suggest that there would ever be an exception to his misogynistic views on women speaking in the church in the future.

Ahn Sahng Hong’s interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:11-14 applies to Zahng Gil Jah and those who follow her.

When reading the aforementioned paragraph by Ahn Sahng Hong, someone might like to conclude that Ahn Sahng Hong’s book only applies to Um Soo In and her followers. Yet, it would appear that Ahn Sahng Hong did not want there to be any confusion on this matter at that time, or in the future. Ahn Sahng Hong went on to explain:

In other words, whenever a woman makes assertions in the Church, the Church will fall under the deception of the Devil. There was a time when women in the Corinthian Church spoke out on the issue of head covering. This is the reason that the Church at Corinth gave a warning to women to be silent.

Ahn Sahng Hong Chapter 19 The Claim of the Woman is the Temptation of the Devil

When Ahn Sahng Hong says “whenever a woman makes assertions in the Church, the Church will fall under the deception of the Devil,” he is not just referring to Um Soo In or to just one woman. The use of the word “whenever,” meaning it may happen more than once and at any time, proves that. In the same paragraph, Ahn Sahng Hong continues to speak about women in the church in general, and in the plural form. Although Ahn Sahng Hong’s book specifically addresses Um Soo In and her claims, nothing in his writings suggests that his teachings only apply to her. On the contrary, Ahn Sahng Hong’s teachings clearly refer to ANY woman making assertions in the church, claiming to be Eve, the bride, heavenly mother or the New Jerusalem that came down from Heaven.

The World Mission Society Church of God claims not to preach about disasters in order to influence its members to stay. Victor Lozada, current World Mission Society Church of God Missionary, published an article on June 2, 2016, addressing this issue on his blog “The True WMSCOG.” Mr. Lozada claimed that a news station in Mongolia aired a false report about the local WMSCOG. According to Mr. Lozada, the report claimed that the WMSCOG in Mongolia:

…expanded its congregation by preaching that the world is coming to an end. The Church urges its members to sell their properties like houses, and exploits them for their money. This Church threatens people by preaching about disasters all the time…

thetruewmscog.com

In previous articles, we have examined the WMSCOG’s obvious fear mongering tactics in their pamphlets about the Passover. Former members have spoken out in YouTube videos about being taught that the world would end in 2012. A news station in South Korea broadcasted an investigative report on the WMSCOG’s claim that the world would end in 1999. The World Mission Society Church of God has even shown this video about disasters to members in their congregation.

But what does Zahng Gil Jah say about disasters and the end of the world? Below is an 8 page sermon from Zahng Gil Jah, dated October 27, 2012. Here are some highlights:

  • Like this, if we know that a disaster is coming, it is very important both physically and spiritually to warn people to evacuate. From now on, there will be more earthquakes, and people who survived in the last one might die in the next one.
  • All the arrogant and every evildoer will be set on fire like stubble. The war that can burn them without leaving even a root or a branch is the nuclear war, the WWIII. The Bible records that there is definitely an appointed day when these things will happen.
  • The only medicine that can heal us so that we can survive even in the nuclear war is the Passover bread and wine of the new covenant that Jesus promised us with His flesh and blood. Since God’s flesh and blood remain in us through the Passover bread and wine, the disasters can pass over us. Now the whole world is coming to our Church, being surprised by this news of salvation.
  • How joyful will it be since only our members will live while all the other people die in the last days?
  • No matter how much Gold tells them that what they are keeping is wrong, people do not listen to Him and they do not give their ear to His teachings. So as a result, they will receive a plague.
  • In the Bible, the wind means “war.” Then when will the wind be released? It is when all the children of God are found. If all the children of God receive the seal today, that day will come today, and if they all receive the seal tomorrow, it will come tomorrow, if they all receive the seal next month, that day will come next month.
  • If a nuclear war breaks out between Iran and Israel, North Korea will seize that opportunity and shoot what they have prepared. That day will come on an unexpected day. Since God told us to be ready, we must be ready. It is better to be ready in advance.
  • We must flee to Zion before the disaster comes. Once the disaster comes, people will not be able to flee to Zion even if they want to. And just because we are safe from disasters, we must not sit back and do nothing, but we must lead other people as well so that they will also escape disasters. Then we will receive an award.

Zahng Gil Jah’s statements speak for themselves and her sermon makes it clear that the World Mission Society Church of God does in fact preach about disasters in a way that would promote fear in its members. In this sermon alone, the word disaster or disasters is found 36 times.

Let us fact check the “mother god”.

From now on, there will be more earthquakes, and people who survived in the last one might die in the next one.

“According to the Words of the Prophecies,” by Zahng Gil Jah, page 2

According to the USGS Worldwide Earthquake Statistics below, the total number of earthquakes in 2010 and 2011 were 2,383 and 2,481 respectively. After that, the total number of earthquakes have decreased NOT increased, and have remained below 1900 thus far. The total number of fatalities in 2010 and 2011 were 226,050 and 21,942 respectively. Subsequently, the total number of fatalities has dramatically decreased, remaining below 10,000. The data does not support Zahng Gil Jah’s assertions.

They killed up to 70 million children of God to change God’s commandments to the commands of men-from the Sabbath to the Sunday service and from the Passover to Christmas. It is 70 million officially, so they must have killed even more people unofficially. Babylon did this. Parents bear a grudge even if someone kills only one of their children. But Babylon killed 70 million children of God. That is why it says that their sins are piled up to heaven.

“According to the Words of the Prophecies,” by Zahng Gil Jah, page 7

The World Mission Society Church of God commonly refers to the Catholic Church as “Babylon.” Zahng Gil Jah is referring to the deaths that resulted from past actions of Catholic Church, such as the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades. The estimated executions in Spain during the Inquisition is about 32,000, the area most affected. The death toll from the Crusades is estimated to be from 1.7 million to as high as 9 million and included people of other faiths such as Muslims, Cathars and Jews. The available data simply does not support Zahng Gil Jah’s claim that 70 millionchildren of god” died as a result of the Catholic Church’s actions.

Salvation

God The Father and God The Mother, by Joo Cheol Kim, page 263

Interpretation of Galatians Chapter 4

“The only reason that the Apostle Paul wrote Galatians 4:22-26 is to clarify that the history of the family of Abraham is a prophecy. (Gal. 3:16)” Problems with New Jerusalem, The Bride and Women’s Veils (1983), Chapter 7, The Jerusalem in Heaven is Our Mother“The Bible clearly tells us that there is our spiritual Mother above (in heaven). We were angels in heaven, but our sins separated us from our Mother and caused us to be cast down to the earth. Because of the sins we had committed in heaven, we lost our memory and couldn’t remember our Mother. Our sins caused our Mother to come from heaven to this earth.” God the Father and God the Mother (2008), p. 218
God The Father and God The Mother, by Joo Cheol Kim, page 218

Though the WMSCOG claims that Ahn Sahng Hong’s analysis of the same verses only applies to Um Soo In, it is painstakingly obvious that Ahn Sahng Hong’s analysis applies to Zhang Gil Jah as well.

The New Jerusalem – A Place or Person?

[After quoting Hebrews 9:11-12 (The Most Holy Place)]
“The temple on earth that was built in Judea could be seen by the human eye and could be felt by human hands.  However, the temple in Heaven cannot be seen with the eyes of this world and cannot be touched by unclean hands.  Because it is a holy temple, whether it exists or does not cannot even be imagined with the human mind.”  Problems with New Jerusalem, The Bride and Women’s Veils (1983), Chapter 8 The Heavenly New Jerusalem is Real and Material
“In the Bible, the Most Holy Place means the heavenly Jerusalem our Mother (2 Ch 3:8, 1 Ki 6:19-20, Rev 21:9-16).” God the Father and God the Mother (2008), p. 232
“The New Jerusalem which is written of in Revelation 21:1-4, the tabernacle of God, abides with human beings.  However, this tabernacle is a spiritual building not a person.”  Problems with New Jerusalem, The Bride and Women’s Veils (1983), Chapter 8 The Heavenly New Jerusalem is Real and Material[After quoting Galatians 4:26-31]
“Our heavenly Mother has been worrying about our safety since the world began. Since we have been cast down to this earth, the city of refuge, by committing sin in heaven, our Mother has also come to this earth and is with us.” God the Father and God the Mother (2008), p. 211

Who is the Bride in the Bible?

Um Soo In claims that she is the bride in the passage ‘The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!’.  Furthermore, it is incredible that Um Soo In says that the voice in the passage ‘and I heard a loud voice from the throne’ is Um Soo In herself.
The Throne of God is a place that only He abides and the Lamb of God is at the right hand of God.  The loud voice coming from the throne cannot come except from the Lamb of God.  Nevertheless, the fact that Um Soo In arrogantly states that she has made the loud voice reveals that she is extremely mentally ill. Problems with New Jerusalem, The Bride and Women’s Veils (1983), Chapter 16, She Claims To Be The Only Bride

Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come! Take the water of life!’…God came in the flesh as the Spirit and the Bride to call us.” watv.org

“It is true that the bride here is the same bride found in Revelation 21:9-10.  Since it is written, ‘Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb,’ the wife of the Lamb is the saints.” Problems with New Jerusalem, The Bride and Women’s Veils (1983), Chapter 16, She Claims To Be The Only Bride“The angel said to John that he would show him the ‘bride, the wife of the Lamb,’ and then showed him Jerusalem. Here, we can see that Jerusalem represents the wife of the Lamb. Jerusalem is our spiritual Mother who gives us eternal life.” God the Father and God the Mother (2008), p. 183

Why is this important?

It is abundantly clear that Joo Cheol Kim has completely distorted Ahn Sahng Hong’s teachings. The World Mission Society Church of God claims to believe that Ahn Sahng Hong was the Second Coming of Jesus, and therefore God Himself. Why would the World Mission Society Church of God teach things that are not only contradictory, but at times the complete opposite, of what Ahn Sahng Hong preached? The Bible clearly says, so does the World Mission Society Church of God for that matter, do not add or take away from the Bible (Revelation 22:19). Therefore, if you are a member reading this, the “because mother said” excuse should not be a sufficient reason for you to continue worshipping Zhang Gil Jah.
