Another End of the World Date

On the home page of this site a current member of the WMS is saying that Mother God told them at the General Assembly this year that September 23rd is the new end of the world date.  It is called the Day of Atonement, and according to this member, she told them that "Father" is going to come for them on this date.  She also is saying that a lot of people are selling their homes, cars, etc., to give more now because of this date.  It is described as a "great movement."

I have read about cults and that they have to have a "sense of urgency" to motivate their members do whatever it is they want them to do.  Usually that is give more money, possessions, etc., and/or recruit more members to do the same (they call it "saving lives").    The constantly moving (and failing) end of the world predictions would certainly fit the description of a well known cult tactic.  I cannot verify that this is what is now being taught at the WMS, but current members certainly could.  The lady who made this statement says this is what members were told directly by Mother God.  Does anyone else have any information to back this up?

I know I have said this several times, but for new members, they most definitely preached 2012 at the Chicago Zion.  One devoted member was witnessed by several people to have said that "If the world doesn't end in 2012, then this church should bar its doors and put a padlock on them."  So funny how he is still a member.  I know some members and non members alike heard him say that.  I know that at least three non members heard him say that.  He said it because at the time he really believed it, it was being preached to him, and he wasn't afraid to say what the leaders had told him was sacred truth that they got straight from "Mother God,"  by way of her holy messengers, the Korean pastors.

This is only one of the failed prophesies in their short history here in the U.S.  How many is it going to take for some people?  I have a feeling some are getting close to their threshold on how much B.S. they can take there.

they will not come out right in saying that it will be the end. they will use ambiguous allegory or metaphor so that when it does not happen it becomes easy for them to backtrack and claim that anyone who calls them out on another failed prophecy are just "slanderers"

same process for other groups. so the system itself is effective

why didnt you see the problem at the time

They didn't all get the memo at the Chicago Zion, apparently.  It was just said straight out in front of a bunch of witnesses that 2012 was most definitely the end of the world.  Not all those witnesses were members, either.
