The Internet – Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?

The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) urges members to stay away from the Internet because “the Internet is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”  Members believe that if they view critical information about the WMSCOG online, they will “fall away” or “lose their salvation.”  This is an obvious attempt by a cult to control the information that the member is allowed to read about he group.

Does this belief have a basis in the Bible?

Let’s take a look at where the tree of knowledge of good and evil is described in the bible:

In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:9

It looks like the tree of knowledge of good and evil is in the Garden of Eden along with the tree of life.  Genesis also tells us that Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden for eating from it:

And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Genesis 3:22-30

Did Adam And Eve Have Access to the Internet?

Well, the Bible tells us that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is in the Garden of Eden. How can the Internet be the tree of the knowledge of good and evil if that tree existed in the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve ate from it? Did they eat from the Internet?  Obviously, they did not.  Adam and Eve did not have an Internet connection in the Garden of Eden.

The WMSCOG Has Fruit on this Tree

If what the WMSCOG says is true, then why does the WMSCOG have fruit on this tree?  They have a number of official web sites, YouTube videos, press releases and their followers spend a lot of time posting comments here and on other blogs.  For the Internet being a bad place, the WMSCOG members dedicate a great amount of time and energy on it.

During one of the services I attended in the NJ location, I heard the pastor warn members about the internet being the tree of knowlege of good and evil because “mother said if you eat of it you will surely die”. I aksed one of the members for clarification on this and she told me that members have stopped attending the church because of lies that are spread on the internet. So I asked, how does that make the person dead? She replied, that if you stop coming to the church, you are then considered spiritually dead. I’m not sure that I’m buying that explanation but many there are accepting it as true.

I have been persecuted as well. I must be the true Church for I have been persecuted just like Jesus Christ. I have taken up my CROSS and followed him. Why doesn’t this church have crosses in or on their churches? I know why, it’s because they want to remove anything that will remind their member of the true way to salvation. This is the same reason why they don’t want their members to celebrate Christmas. Oh they have made up their own reasons for these things such as the cross is an offensive object used to kill and the roots of Christmas are pagan. Whatever. Christmas replaced the pagans holiday and gave us Christians a day to declare our happiness for the birth of our Savior. Don’t believe the teachings of the WMSCOG as regards to these things. The only thing that makes sense is that they are removing as much of Jesus and the one true God as they can in order to make their filth seem like truth.

Funny how the church still plays and preys,…instead of praising and praying. It has been that way since Jesus walked the earth. Even he was p****d about it and flipped the tables in the temple.
Okay people here it is. GOD IS EVERYWHERE. GOD DOESN’T COST A THING. Four walls with a cross stuck on the top, nor a tent or a gathering have anything with “keeping the lords day holy”. It is more about taking a day to reflect on all you have done and the joys God has given you. Church is a business. They sell religion. Business has been pretty good over the last 600 years. People go there, pay there tithe, sit for a few hours and listen to a tale. If you can read, open the book and read it. “Dont be led blindly like sheep”. It isn’t hard. Use your own head, talk with friends if you dont understand.
I get so tired of the blatant ignorance people show. They want to follow even when they are mislead. At some point you have to open your eyes, research the history of the bible, its teachings and why you clutch that book. Make up your own minds.
