Award Criteria

Any individual, family or group that meets the program’s criteria can receive Presidential recognition for volunteer hours served over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime. Criteria for recognition are:

Recipients must be United States citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States.

Awards are issued for service hours served within a 12-month time period or over the course of a lifetime.

Awards are issued for volunteer service only. Additional levels of participation with the organization, i.e. charitable support, are not a factor considered for the award.

Court-ordered community service does not qualify for the award.

Awards are issued by approved Certifying Organizations.

Service must be with an organization that is legally established in the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or one of the territories.

The Award

Award recipients can choose among different options for award recognition:

The official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin

A personalized certificate of achievement

A congratulatory letter from the president of the United States

A combination of all three of the above

I'm sorry you are getting so defensive about this 144000.

Have you looked at the awards pages of the watv websites?  Have you heard (or read) members pointing out all the awards the wmscog has received?  If not, then maybe you individually have been less focused on that, which is refreshing.  But that's not the general feeling the wmscog gives off.

The purpose of bringing up this issue was to get an explanation about it.  If there is a "perfectly innocent explanation" for it, why doesn't the wmscog just come out and say so and clear everything up?  They could have easily done that when it was first pointed out.  Instead the defensiveness has made this issue just drag on and on, which gives the impression that there is not, after all, a 'perfectly innocent explanation.'

Well 144,000 I don’t know how your Zion presented the award but at the Zion I attended made a BIG deal about it. It was waved in our faces (not meant negatively). Or maybe you weren’t a member at that time. Whatever the case may be…WMSCOG made a big deal about it.

The members who did the good deeds to get this award may have had good intentions when they applied for this award. What I am saying is that this award was not “awarded” to Zhang!

The church makes big deals about awards and allegedly members of royalties being baptized. A big deal is made when the church establishes a new, permanent Zion location. But like I said…maybe your Zion is different and don’t talk about such things.

We don’t answer to you, you are not the FBI okay? You are not the Presedential Award Polic, and going around saying that someone is commiting fraud can get you into big trouble real fast.

 Good point.. I'll talk to the FBI and see what they say. Maybe you're right.. Maybe it's perfectly fine to have Zahng's name on the award though she wasn't the awardee.

 I have it written on my car and haven't gotten a ticket. =) Lots of people have stopped to talk to me about my car. I think one of the recent guys was a member trying to pretend he wasn't. He looked super familiar.. like one of the sisters [who was in my group] husband.
