Elohim is pluralis excellente. This form is even used for kings in ancient times. The reason is, women could not speak out back then, so the king would always speak on behalf of the queen saying we. Also Gen1:26 “And Elohim said, let US make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness..” and Gen11:7 God says, “Let US go down”. Also, Moses is referred to as ELOHIM to the PHAROAH. Who are the Spirit and the Bride in rev22:17?

gennyParticipantYou're missing the point about Moses. Moses is a singluar person, isn't he? Why would a plural word be used for Moses who is singular? The point is that simply because this Hebrew word is plural in word structure, doesn't prove it's always plural in number. You must understand the rules of a language to understand the language properly. If you ignore the rules, you will have a faulty understanding. This is true with any language.

I'm proud of my pants example. It's undeniable. You have pants, panties, sheep.. Lot's of words that, standing alone, appear to be singular or plural when really they aren't.

I like your example Renita! Your right! *quick note a pair of pants is meant for 2 legs. Assuming you have two legs. J.k.

Love'n HoneyParticipantI thought about that.. but then I thought about the bra. A bar is meant for a pair of boobs.

Stick to the pants, the koreans won't get the bra-example, they've probably never used any.

SimonParticipantPants is actually plural each leg used to be it’s own piece
As for the op I don’t think he even knows what pluralis excellente means if he’d argue it proves mother
June 3, 2013 at 3:55 PM #42507
Love'n HoneyParticipantSimon.. did you not read my bra example? A cup for each boob and yet it's singular.
June 3, 2013 at 6:27 PM #42508
SimonParticipantAs is the word form besides as smurf said. .
June 4, 2013 at 2:32 AM #42509
144000ParticipantExcept there are jewish scholars which have called pluralis excellente a ridiculous bastardization of the language and criticized such faulty use of form. and there exist several other places in the bible where Plural Elohim is used with Plural Verb to signify the truth of the plurality, see Gen 35:7.
"us" and "our" likewise signify the truth of the plurality while you still argue about the word Elohim itself.
Male and Female testify to the plurality as well, for the image of God is not unisex, it is multi-sex. Male and Female, plural, are the subject matter.
Father.
And Mother.
June 4, 2013 at 2:40 AM #42510
JoshuaParticipantThe Bible clearly states that there is ONE true GOD and that you shall have NO other gods before Him. Your idea of father god and mother god fails miserably when held up to the Word of God. Sorry!
June 4, 2013 at 2:51 AM #42511
144000ParticipantWow you must really hate Jesus then.
June 4, 2013 at 2:56 AM #42512
JoshuaParticipantNice lame attempt at diversion! My God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three in one. You might have heard of them. They are in the Bible!
June 4, 2013 at 3:03 AM #42513
144000ParticipantAnd the bride is one with the husband physically, which is the same spiritually, Elohim Father and Mother are a single God with two images, they are one when they want to be one, they are two when you want to say they are two. Two faces of the same singular coin.
You posit arguments we do not believe in. I think that is a strawman.
June 4, 2013 at 3:05 AM #42514
1004ParticipantIgnore Joshua his posts are becoming childish, you're doing a good job explaining 144000. Please keep going.
June 4, 2013 at 3:47 AM #42515
144000ParticipantIndeed. I have better things to do tonight.
Cheers.
June 4, 2013 at 4:26 AM #42516
DisturbedParticipantBut you’re still here…you better open your eyes and read Jeremiah 44. Worshipping the queen of heaven brings a curse. It is DETESTABLE to God. “Do not do this detestable thing that I hate!”
Do you deny the words of God? Read Jeremiah 44. God says “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6
June 4, 2013 at 4:33 AM #42517
emilParticipantYou have still to explain why Jesus mentioned the Heavenly Father over 70 times in the gospels but never spoke one word about any heavenly mother.
June 4, 2013 at 6:17 AM #42518
SimonParticipantUs and our is ALSO pluralis excellente
