What Year Was Ahn Sahng Hong Baptized?

The World Mission Society Church of God claims that Ahn Sahng Hong was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1948. Photos posted to a South Korean blog prove otherwise.

Pictured above is a photocopy of the baptism record book for the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Haeundae, South Korea. The entry clearly shows that:

  • Ahn Sahng Hong 안 상 홍 was born on January 13, 1918;
  • baptized on October 9, 1954, not in 1948;
  • and kicked out of the SDA church on March 31, 1962.

Below are actual photos of the Ahn Sahng Hong’s baptism entry and the SDA church in Haeundae where the record is kept.

Why is Ahn Sahng Hong’s Baptism Date Important?

The World Mission Society Church of God’s alleged prophecies are predicated on Ahn Sahng Hong’s baptism taking place in 1948. For example, the World Mission Society Church of God claims that Ahn Sahng Hong fulfilled the parable of the fig tree:

Through the parable of the fig tree, Jesus revealed that He would come for the second time in 1948, when Israel—represented as the fig tree—would gain its independence. Ahnsahnghong came in 1948 according to the prophecy of the fig tree, so the Church of God believes in Him as the Second Coming Christ.

Setting aside the biblical misinterpretation of Matthew 24, because Ahn Sahng Hong was baptized in 1954 and not in 1948, he did not fulfill the parable of the fig tree.

The WMSCOG also claims that Ahn Sahng Hong fulfilled the prophecy of King David.

Christ Ahnsahnghong fulfilled the prophecies of the throne of David; He was baptized in 1948 when he was 30 years old, preached the gospel for 37 years and ascended to heaven in 1985 after completing His ministry.

Again, setting aside the biblical misinterpretations that lead the WMSCOG to this supposed prophecy, the math does not work when you factor in Ahn Sahng Hong’s actual baptism date. Ahn Sahng Hong was baptized in 1954 at the age of 36, and died in 1985. Therefore, Ahn Sahng Hong only “preached” for 31 years.

When Ahn Sahng Hong’s true baptism date is exposed, it is clear that Ahn Sahng Hong did not fulfill the parable of the fig tree or the WMSCOG’s manufactured prophecy of King David. Thus, according to the WMSCOG’s own teachings, Ahn Sahng Hong was not the Second Coming of Jesus.

    I look at the document with scrutiny and skepticism. As an analyst, I’m trying to make sense of the data such as how the data is sort/ written in what order ? (Disclaimer: I can’t read korea but I’m just looking at the numeric presented)

    Logically it would have been sorted/ written in the order of Join date or baptism date? (Which the picture doesn’t seem to be the case) I did see some similarity in birth year but it would be a strange & tedious way to arrange or find data. (Which baptism / joined date would make more sense)

    Upon closer look at the baptism date. There seem to be a digit “ 1 “ before “7” (or is my eye playing trick with me) 4281 -2333 would be 1948.

    If “7” was deceitfully added. Then what creditability does the source have? Was it re written when A.S.H set up his church and ministry (which was also many years back to warranty a book to be yelllow as per Korean blog mention the authenticity of recorded being age)
