There’s a lot of pressure placed on members of the WMSCOG to recognize the supposed new name of Christ. If their god the mother is so important why don’t they recognize her name? By the way, she’s been called by a couple different names over the years. Which ones the real one?

SIMON, I'm going out on a limb again, PLEASE tell me you know when we write about Stained being like god, it's a parody. You know, like we are making a joke to prove a point. All the ridiculous stuff we write directly relates to the ridiculous stuff they do. So please don't call our brother J of N a blasphemer. I think you need to count more actuallys (which is like them telling you to keep studying) I'll translate the stuff for you
Brother Simon is right on this one. Everyone here knows JofN is mocking the WMS, but for someone who's just tuning in may not be that clear.

Your right Rice but if someone is going to read one post and leave then they are not going to get anything out of this anyhow
As for this particular statement by J of N it might just leave someone scratching their head but that is not uncommon for J of N because he plays the part of the member who gets special treatment from the paster such as doesn't have to show up for services on tuesdays and Saturdays and still gets to show up for passover and when they are around, the paster puts them up on a pedestal in front of the other members and they proclaim their devotion to father and mother. I bet that leaves some members scratching their heads too.
I know we have debated this before but I do believe that some of these posts have to at least make someone stop and think "what are these people talking about"? Critical thinking is the key. You have to admit we have cleaned up the profanity except for Stained but he is the All Knowing One and they/he gets to do whatever they/he wants. You see it's really not personal, it's strictly buisness

SmurfParticipantSometimes I wonder if we're just in the way. The church is doing a pretty good job discrediting herself on her own. One day they are going to get too greedy and make a bad move. I just hope I'm here to see it.
As for the critical thinking I'm not so sure. Members are fully capable of critical thinking and I dare say even more than other religious folk.
The main issue here is pride. Nobody likes being wrong, and for some this is sufficient to stay.

I'll split the difference with you Rice, I don't believe the members have any ability to think on their own especially critical thinking. When my favorite ex member came out she described it as "coming out of a coma" and felt as though she was in a "snowglobe" those thoughts came off the top of her head just a day after coming out so I know they were real.
I totally agree with you on the pride issue though and I would love to know what Q thinks about us "being in the way" could be some merit there too with regard to current members anyhow. Do we even know if a member has been helped out by this site? On their own?
There is no doubt this site and forum has tremendous value to ex members and family or friends of current members which hopefully leads to members getting out.

Hi Harry. I know of a lot of people that have been helped by the forum, members and ex members, and also a good thing about the forum is that it keeps the church in their tippitoes. Also, as with any "organization of this type" when they start receiving bad PR they change their methods, ie: Now they are more careful about telling people to get abortions, which is good! because now people can have babies! or now they are not so pushy to break up families like before, which is also good.
I think something that would be more awesome and effective is if everybody talks about their experience or even if we touch some topics about doctrine. I know that the first time I read about other people's experience I just said "this is the exact same thing I'm going through".
But I think the forum has different purposes, it helps ex members leave, it helps members "think", it helps families of members and ex members to cope and to help.
There are A LOT of people being affected by this group, and this group is very active at trying to hide the bad things that they do as you can see here: http://vimeo.com/80916115 , I think we should be as active and loud, if not more.
I think the forum is great, and I can't say anything bad about it, but I think it definitely could be better, and not only in the forum, but we can take actions outside of the forum to help in a more significant way. Just my thoughts.

SmurfParticipantI agree, but you've seen what happens to all who dare to speak against them. Not only that, we are also vastly outnumbered. And the forum is nice and all, but it's like fighting a dragon with a stick. We must up our game.
Bring in the garbage truck… It's time to take out the trash 😎

Seriously, they ain't that tough Rice. Historically they only attack those they perceive to be weaker then them. (heavenly mother michele was a blunder on their part)
I do like the garbage truck idea, are you sure your not from Jersey?

emilParticipantI am kind of ambivalent on the Church of Stained approach. On the one hand, I enjoy the parody and I think people, even wmscog members who read it, will see it as such.
On the other hand, I have visited and studied some of their websites. They are usually filled with a whole lot of strawman arguments. They state something that is apparently being said about them and prove why the statement is wrong. Now this is where it can get bad. They can take the statements of the Stained church and use them as instant strawmen. Most of their members don't actually visit this site. They just lap up what they are told this site says. This is what can work against us. They will truthfully quote this site, obviously without the caveat that it is a parody.
Having said that, we must admit that they have demonstrated that they are fully capable of presenting strawmen without any help from the church of Stained.
Regarding blindly accepting what people quote, most of us here have been guilty of even blindly accepting things that the wmscog quotes. This is where our beloved Genny has been enlightening us by doing a wonderful job of examining their quotes for accuracy, credibility and authenticity.

MountainMomParticipant@Fried Rice: We aren't really outnumbered, it just seems that way at times. For every member of the wmscog, I very conservatively estimate that there are 20 or more family, friends, etc., who are extremely upset that their loved one is a member. I think that number goes up every time someone realizes what this group is, too. so there is probably a lot more than 20 that are upset about their involvement. We have them outnumbered greatly. Coordinating anything, getting together to fight this is our real problem.
I have some ideas but might need some help.

emilParticipantJesus has a hundred different names already. Yashua or "Yahweh is my salvation" (correct me if my translation is wrong) is one of them. Then there is Emanuelle or God is with us. There are quite large number of other names like Prince of Peace, Lion of Judah, Mountain of refuge, etc. Ahn certainly isn't one of them. Let them try publicly dclaring what his name means in Korean.
They claim that Ahn is both Jesus and the Holy Spirit. They claim that Jehovah, Jesus and Ahn are the 3 names in the 3 different ages. I reject this because the bible unambiguously shows the simultaneous existence of the 3 persons at the same moment in time.
