I can only wish, perhaps, in my dreams that all who visit this site can unite. When we see each other in heaven, we can reminisce. Talk about the Simons of the world, how he kept confusing Sarah. Talk about FTOS, how he fought for what he believed. Talk about Joshua who was like Saul but with a heart like Paul (same person). Talk about Emil who wont quit in her pursit, and Renita who had her uniqueness, and everyone else. Mountainmom who held strong, Stained, who won’t take rubbish, Elaine, Elie, whom i missed, KF, Ouestioning LA, who always appeared philosophical,fedupmom who never said too much, genny who held her own, Liberty, Rebecca, Smurf, whom i never spoke to, J. Nazoreth, King, whom appear once in a while, J. Escariot, who once said hi, and Admin, who kept helping to Make sure we didn’t post derogatory comments……
And, WMS brother, who won’t speak anymore.

That seems like too much. It wouldn't be much different than this site. People share their stories here all the time. I think if there are people, like me, who aren't afraid of the WMSCOG should consider the FB page without getting a new email address and such. I can understand why MM and people in her situation would want to stay anonymous. But what exactly are the rest of us afraid of?
what are they afraid of, well for one it was a big step for them to come here, that took courage on their part, but to actually set themselves up with the possiabilty that their identity can be known.
that's cool that your not afraid, but not everyone is Rentia, or ready to expose their identity, and they have every right to protect themselves from the wms if they feel threatened.
for the ones who are not associated with the church or never attended well that's on them. Do you not think that if someone from the wms higher uppers join, they will use their real name or email.
and it was a suggestion so that they may be able to join with no worries, I don't see why you think that's too much. Also the difference between this site & fb is way way different.
all in all I suggested that for their protection, no biggy.

I'm not saying they have to be like RENITA. Idk who Rentia is.. But I would like to know what they're afraid of. Are they afraid that a member is going to shoot up their house? That's something to be afraid of. And what do you mean 'let their identity be know'?? People know who they are in the town they live in. Chances are the people around them, whether it be friends, family, co-workers, etc. know they were once a part of this organization. Like I said in another post, I voice my opinion when I feel like something doesn't make sense. And these people don't seem like the type to cause physical harm to someone who decides to say, "I'm no longer a member." You're coming out the WMSCOG, not the closet.. Like I said, that's my opinion.
Let's make a page on FB so people can talk about their experiences in the WMSCOG but with no real names, no pictures, etc… sounds a lot like this site. The difference between this site and FB is the fact that FB is a whole lot more personal than this site. But taking out the personal portions [your hometown, where you work, your real name, your face, etc.] of FB would be a waste of time because a place like that already exists and you're posting in it. It's too much when you don't need to do it.

@ Kim & Renita- I understand what you both are saying, and both of you make valid points. Renita is correct when she says that Facebook is meant to be more personal. Kim is correct when she says some people are afraid for their identity to be known. I understand both and agree with both.
I guess I should be a bit more clear:
As for the idea that I was thinking of- it wouldn't really be like this site at all, not would it be replacing it in anyway. The function would be completely different. It would be a place to get to know each other better and plan possible events and meetups. Kinda like a social group. It's meant to be more personal than this site. Has anyone ever heard of meetup.com? I just like facebook better than meetup.com.
It could be a hidden facebook group, if people feel more comfortable with that. The name doesn't appear on your profile- meaning only you can see it. But of course, being facebook, you'd be able to see everyone's profile, if they are in the group. Unless your profile is blocked to people who aren't friends- but then again, that kinda deletes the purpose.
People would join on a volunteer basis and the name would probably have nothing to do with wmscog. They would join because they want to get to know other members better- than just being a screen name on a forum- and actually possibly meet people in real life. Of course, not all would be comfortable with that, but for those who are- it could be a really fun group.
Mountainmom proposed the idea of forming a real life meetup- and I just thought that it might be easier to plan that over facebook, rather than this forum. I think she originally mentiond the idea of skype, but I think that facebook would be easier.
And even though I am proposing the idea, I'm not necessarily proposing to make it. I just wanted to see how many would be interested in something like that, or know if there was already something like this in existence.
Mountainmom or Renita can make it. Less work for me 😛
I will probably not be eligible for this group but I get what Liberty is saying. This proposed group can be an excellent support group for those who come out of wmscog or desire to come out but don't know how.

I'm not doing it. I think it's not a good idea if we have to make a whole new profile just to use it. Joshua keeps opening threads about how greatful he is and such. Though I think that's not the purpose of this site, you can still do it. This site is enough. If there were people in my area who wanted to start a committee, I would like to do that. =)

I need help getting my husband out of this cult. Would any ex members be able to help me or talk to my husband directly? It does no good when I try and talk to him because I get very angry and nothing gets resolved. Ive wasted 6 yrs of my life/marriage dealing with this and I am extremely tired of it all. I would appreciate any help I can get…..:(
