The other day I was in church listening to my Pastor. The general idea of the message was how the world tries to force the truth to fit into the way they want things to be. Many times groups or individuals will take Gods Word and twist it to suit their own purposes or ideas. I don't know how many times I've heard things like, "Well, I'm a good person so I'm sure I'm going to Heaven" or "There's more than one way to Heaven." How about the folks that pick and choose what they want out of Gods Word?
If it's mostly the truth folks, then it is a lie! You can have 99% truth but if the 1% is not then it's just plainly NOT the truth!
As my Pastor went on he presented us with an example. What he did first was he poured a nice tall glass of cool refreshing water. How do I know it was cool and refreshing? He had someone else come up and try it. As expected, the individual reported that it was indeed cool and refreshing. Next my Pastor squeezed a bunch of lime juice into the water and had this individual try it again. Of course it was not the same and in its present form was not very acceptable. After the second taste my pastor proceeded to add sweetner to the mix. The third taste was much better and made the lime juice much more palletable.
The origional water was the best thing for us in this example. Our bodies need water in order to function properly. The water represents Gods Word! We need the truth in order to function properly. The lime juice represents how the world, groups, and some individuals like to twist the truth and misrepresent the very thing that we need in order to get through life. Most of us can tell when there's something that just doesn't seem right about what is being presented to us as the "Truth". This is when the world, groups, and some individuals try to make whatever it is they are telling us more acceptable. How? By trying to make us thing that what we have been taught over the years is somehow wrong. By love bombing us thus making us feel like we don't want to go against them or hurt their feelings by disagreeing. How about placing the one that's questioning what's being taught into a group that is constantly telling them that they just don't understand yet but in time they will. Most people want to be accepted and eventually just follow along. (There are way too many studies done on this for anyone to make a valid counter argument about this.)
Why are people tollerating this? This is no way to go through life! For the members that are trapped in these controlling groups ask yourself if there is something that just seems like it's just not quite right? Doubt helps you to make decisions that are better for you in the long run. Over the years of posting in this forum I have constantly begged people to do their own research! If you have a doubt, check it out! If you're stuck on the idea that the Internet is somehow misleading and/or being used by Satan then do your research the old fashion way. Go to the library! If you're not afraid then I would suggest you go to a different church and present them your situation and your questions. If they are worth their salt they will be willing to sit down with you and if they don't have the answers they will point you in the direction of someone that does. Don't just sit there when you know that something is not right! Research, research, research!
