This is the documentary about the Worldwide Church Of God leaded by Herbert Armstrong. It explains how he started explaining how people should keep the Sabbath. He used the happenings of the time to warn the U.S. bout the end of the days. And preached many other Ideas that we have heard in the COGWMS.

Similarities:

He started teaching about the Sabbath

He started to ask for tithes

Spoke about the feasts of God and promoted them

When his message finish to go around the world then the end of this age will come. (at the time)

If we do not keep the Sabbath on Saturday we were not true Christians

He was the only true Apostle

He excomunicated his son from the church

The church came to a 150 thousand people

The church was stablished in over 60 Countries

Members of the church will become inmortals and become Gods themselves

Did not celebrate no birthdays, no Christmas, Thanksgiving, People were forbiden to go to the doctor (COG doesnt forbid it but with the little money you have left in your pocket you barely can make it to eat)

Chosed a Succesor

He was profesied to come (Armstrong) and that he cannot die before Christ second Comming, Armstrong was the anointed one, the chosen.  (COG says the same about their "Mother God")

When he died people started to realized that they were in a cult. (This is when I think large amount of people will leave the COG when their leader faces Death, I think they are just pushing it as much as they can)

Some people when they saw evidence they did not accepted at first

When he died they started look at his teachings critically (just as we when we come out and read all the material from COG)

His Church was the only true Church

 

I will keep posting my toughts about this topic later on. The reason I decided to open this topic was not to go offtopic but by seeing that other people have done it and gone through it there is much teaching and understanding that can come out from this. So far I see that the people that came out from this cult and realized the mistake they were into have a chance for salvation because they chosed to repent, to change and to look for the truth. They realized they were doing wrong by only following someone speaking beautiful to them and not by testing every word.

Outstanding! I'm on here everyday looking for something serious and new happening in regards to wmscog. I'm glad to see something that really makes a difference. The similarities are truly uncanny. I hope every member in wmscog can see this. Thank you jellybean.
