My X-husband has been involved for a few years. He stopped exposing our son to the "church" after I got really upset. He had him baptized without my consent. He now agrees not to discuss it with him, but my son tells me that he tries, but ends up always saying something since it is the only thing going on in his life. I just found out that he has disappeared to Korea for the 2nd time. He has been gone a week & we don't know when he'll return. What happens there? Being his 2nd time I am more concerned. I really hoped he'd be over this by now. He has promised however that if Dec. 2012 is not the end he will leave the WMSCOG.
I don't have a problem with people having their own religions, even if I don't see the validity of it, but there are a few things that make it of high concern. First, is his loss of connection to our son. He used to be a very active Dad and now he has very little interest. Second, he thinks he is invinsible. He says that if he got shot, the bullet would go right through him and not harm him and that he hasn't even gotten a cold since he joined. Three, he thinks "Mother" levitates. Four, he has completely disconnected from any friends not in the church and is pretty distant with his family too.
It is sad for me to see him so distant from our son, but I am trying to think what my real concerns are. Has anyone ever been taken to Korea against their will? I am a little scared he could take our son and disappear, but is that just silly? Would they ever to a Heaven's Gate thing if 12/12 doesn't happen? Besides the person removing themselves from all family and friends & not paying child support, what else have people seen happen to members?
