Tithing for the church

    Here is my dilemma for those who are members of the COG;

    I was told that the members are expected to tith at least 1/10th of their earnings to the church. In a sense, I see no wrong for an intention of donating God-given earnings to the organization which in return would spend it all for the sake of God as long as the organization is being transparent with spending so as to keep it kosher. Honestly, I really do not think that wmscog does that…

    Now, if the members are encouranged to share the wealth with the church why they are absulately "advised" not to help each other. Supposedly, they call each others brothers and sisters. I cannot think of my brother not helping in case I need help. How can you be my brother or sister if you are not willing to extend a hand when I am down? How could you justify being and doing good if you choose to be obliviant for your fellow who is in agony? If you see me in fire(figuratively), won't you come for my aid?

    Once they told me it might create a conflict if the favor was not returned. In other words, if you loan money to someone who is in need and maybe you will never see a dime of it, it might disturb the "ambiance" of the church. My question would be if you are so eager to give away your earning for the mother, why won't you help those in need? Can't you help someone with no return and just say "pay it forward"? I guess COG is more concerned about hogging the money for themselves…

    What about those who lose their jobs and God forbid don't get a job immediately and skip their weekly donations? They would get an ultimatium to get a job or else… well, in life, not everything is peachy. Maybe, you cannot get a job immediately. Maybe, you cannot work for sometime because of health issues. Maybe,… what I would expect is to get support from my brothers and sisters when I am in difficulty. You are supposed to be my brothers and sisters.

    There was a girl in the place where I used to work. She was a member of COG. She was going through a tough time and having health issues as well. I wanted to help her, but I did not want her to take my approach in a wrong way. So, I asked a friend of hers who happened to be also a member. She told me that it is her problem and she might be paying for her bad deeds. She should be left alone and it is better that she prays God for forgiveness.

    I really cannot make of this church to anything. They are so nice and loving from outside but pretty cruel inside. I don't understand how one can embed love of God in heart where one does not have one…

    All tells me that your complacent beliefs will NOT echo in eternity. And, all soon will come to an end, your highness!
