Tithe and offerings receipt

So today I was packing up because I am moving soon to my Own Place and after a year and a half of leaving the church I found my income tax receipt from the Church signed by the pastor that clearly states that they are a “non profit” institution and that I as a member did not receive any product or services in exchange for the money donated. I am going to keep this document because for some reason I fill it will be useful in the future.

What about you EX Members and current members?? Have you received the Tithes and offerings receipt to use for your income tax report in your location or ex location?? I wonder if it is the same for house churches and regular locations.

Never got anything. I’ve moved since then but still have access to receiving mails from my old place.

At the location I went to you had to ask for it. My first time asking my group leader about it was weird. She told me I could ask but “it’s not good to do that”. I felt bad for trying to get a tax write off on my money to God. I’m guessing they don’t want too many people claiming them on their taxes because the govt will be looking crazy because they’re not filing their own taxes. I suggest everyone from this point forward encourage all current members to claim that charitable donation every year if they continue to stay!

Wow!! Disturbed that is very weird. Does anyone know if they end up paying less taxes if a member does not claim the donations in their own taxes. I do not know anything about filling them out. :/

When I asked for my 2011 tax return beginning in 2012 finally by march they tell me since I left the church I was not a member and couldn't recieve my statement.

We always had to ask in Jan for our statement if we wanted it.    They were lazy.

Sounds like a call to the IRS may be in order. They cannot refuse to give it to you.

That does not make any sense because you were a member for the period of 2011. However I know that is managed by the Korean team in the bigger churches and they are in charge of adding the sheet located in your tithes and offerings envelope. If you still have the sheet and the envelope you can still use that to report your donations. They change that sheet every Sacred year starting from the month of the Passover

@Jellybean…at the Zion’s I attended the sheet was changed out at the end of the traditional calendar year. The sheet begins in January and ends in December, which would make sense for accounting & tax purposes.

Interesting… Maybe I am wrong then. For the year I was in there the Passover was celebrated very early so I wonder if that is related to the Income tax return that members receive.
