I have started reading a book about the Worldwide Church of God. Some of you may recognize this cult from several of the cult watch groups. This group was founded by their General Pastor Herbert W. Armstrong who many of us believe to be a false prophet. This book is called, "Coming to Grips with the Law of Moses in the Worldwide Church of God "Difficult Scriptures" written by David Albert. I just started reading this book but I want to quote part of the preface to you. "The 1990's have been a time of considerable doctrinal change and reform for us. One of the biggest lessons we have learned, rather belatedly, I admit, is that the law of Moses is not required for salvation. This came as a shock because, unlike members of most mainstrean denominations, we in the Worldwide Church of God truly were Christians living under the law of Moses. Thankfully, most of our members have come to understand and agree with these doctrinal changes even though that task has usually not been easy for them.
This forward also states some of the practices they realize that they are not bound to, "members of the Worldwide Church of God did not eat "unclean meat" such as pork and shellfish, paid not one but two, sometimes three tithes, observed a seventh-day (Saturday) Sabbath and celebrated annual festivals such as the Days of Unleavened Bread and the Feast of Tabernacles.
I know that many of the members and ex-members of the WMSCOG will recognize similarities between these groups. This group has discovered the errors in some of their doctrine and have made efforts to correctthe false truths that they once defended. The WMSCOG has the opportunity to admit just how in error their doctrine is and I am sure that there will be members that would stick around and try to make things right. There will also be people that will want to cling to the old traditions and that will probably want to splinter off and create their own false religion. One thing is certain, the WMSCOG would have to pitch the harlot that lives off of them out into the street, scrap the old doctrine, and start over again seeking God with fear and trembling. Is there hope for them? YES Will they realize it and embrace it? I don't want my oppinion to cloud your judgement about this. Food for thought people.
This depends on so many things. I don't know who "officially" created the WMSCOG. Was it a collaboration between Zhang and General Pastor.? Or did someone else give those two athority? Maybe it was Big Shine.
But what I am trying to say is that I believe whoever created the WMSCOG intentionally did so to deceive people. I don't think there is any hope for them, because I don't think they really want to serve the true God, or that they want their members to know the "truth."
I don't think that Ahnsahnghong meant for the WMSCOG to be like it is today. I think that he was a very intelligent man. I can't say if he was a Prophet or Elijah or anything like that. But I think he was truly and earnestly seeking God and trying to bring back a lot of truth to Christianity. I think of him kinda as a modern Martin Luther.
Although, I want to say for the record, I don't believe that anyone has the "Truth." Not one soul, no matter how much they think they do. Didn't the bible say that humans will never be all-knowing. And I think that's every aspect of life- religion, spirituality, math, science, history, language, etc, etc. No one will ever know everything. This should be COMMON SENSE! Its sometimes funny reading how people debate back and forth on what is true or not in some of these threads. None of them know!
I've learned many things from my experience at WMSCOG. But I think most of all, I've learned to (try) to be more humble and admit that I know nothing. Try to be open-minded, and learn from people, situations, life.
Just a few months ago, I was so very arrogant- thinking that I had the truth- sabbath, Passover, Father, Mother, Feast, blah blah. I was like, "I'm going to Heaven, and they are all going to Hell, haha." And yes, people there really think like that. They may not want to admit it but they do. The Pastor even jokes about that during summer.
Well reality finally came and slapped me in the face, and I realized that I had nothing. And now I am grateful every single day for realizing that. That was the grace of God. Now I just pray, "God, I know nothing, so please guide me through this day." And that's it.
I do think there are still many members there, just like I was, who are truly trying to seek a genuine connection with God and do whatever they can to please him and make him happy. They can't help that they've been deceived. I can only pray and wish that God will love, protect and guide them all, and that they will receive true salvation and happiness at the end. And I pray and hope that goes for all people in this world who are truly and genuinely seeking God, but they don't have all the answers (no one does).
So to answer your question- no I don't think there is hope for WMSCOG as an organization, but there is hope for the individual members who are true, honest and sincere.

Brother, what disturbs me about your post is that it contains no true sympathy and no love of any kind.
Well said Liberty, wmscog strong determination about salvation has lead to a discreditable remarks.
FTOS, You may have been told we (as in all us non-members) worship the sun god, but that is a lie. I have never worshipped anyone but Jesus Christ and God Himself, and neither has Joshua. You have been told lies. We don't pray to the cross either. Those things are a big stretch of the imagination, but they lied when they told you that. Lies, the very thing you are so adamantly against. They are very convinicing and can get you to believe things that have absolutely no basis in fact. And love and truth in the form of attacks? Not a good way to bring credibility. But the wmscog has no real credibility. Lies aren't credible. Just because they said it doesn't mean it is true. As you said before, people lie. And the hierarchy of that church are people. Rich people, by the way.
The thing is WMSCOG teaches we unknowingly do it so we can't just deny it easily unfortunately
Yes, I know they say that. But I actually CAN deny it easily. I know what was in my heart as I sat in church on Sunday, and God knows too. He knows we were worshipping Him, so does it really matter what men in the wmscog think? They don't know me. They like to say the opinion of men doesn't count, and that is one thing I agree with. God knows where our hearts are. And it isn't with any sun god. i don't worry about that for one minute.
And isn't it ironic that they are unknowingly worshipping false idols, the very thing they preach against? I guess the key word for this is unknowingly. And they profess to know all see all. That is obviously false as well.
you can deny it but not convincingly which was implied in my statement. I can deny being a human but you likely won't believe me… although of course I'd be lying unlike you.
I just think the truth stands on it's own. And it wins in the end. That's been my experience.
Eventually truth will win but sooner is better than later 🙂

I'm so sorry for your disability here FTOS. Why do you claim love and truth and then post something like this? I have never worshipped the sun god of any kind but I have noticed that the members of the WMSCOG like to transpose their faults and failures onto others. I guess the real question is why do you worship and protect false gods? If you only knew the love of God what a great person you might be. I pitty you greatly. I have no doubt that you life is in great turmoil especially due to your disability and your lack of wanting to do anything about it. Pitty, lots and lots of pitty.

Fight fire with water. I remember Mother gave a sermon and in it she spoke about the way we should be using a coke bottle. We know what happens when we shake a bottle full of soda. We also know what happens when we shake a bottle full of water. I might not believe she is God but I do agree with a lot of what she says. I try to be like water… try.. =)

Then I think it's better for you to never come back. I'd rather you be a part of the WMSCOG with a good attitude toward other people online or otherwise than to be a part of the WMSCOG with a bad attitude because of this site.
I know there have been months where I didn't comment because I needed to take a step back. The things I was reading were getting to me and made me upset.
People have to learn to beware of this site, so even if I do get a bad attitude I wouldn't have it outside of this website. That I can deal with. If me having a bad attitude is what it takes to keep people from falling then I'm willing to too.

In the army or military you have to kill in order to win and survive and our brothers who served and fought did not say Please before they fired and did not say excuse me after .
