I was made aware of some national news today, and after watching the video (link below), I have come to the conclusion that YouTube user "The True WMSCOG" ("True") has made some fine points in the three rebuttals to the Ron/Diane videos.
As you will see in the video, evidence is gathered, reviewed, and analyzed in order to come to compelling conclusions, and because the methodology involved in this examination process is so solid, imho, I have reconsidered my position of being so critical of True.

yes, I did.
when we are deeply ingrained in defending our team, we tend to see the world through those glasses and find the information that confirms what we want the conclusion to be.
The analogy – True has no more of an ability to think critically than some 49ers fan with too much time on his hands.

uh oh, I might need an intervention….I lost a lot of money that day and i bought into everything that video said. Somebody call Hassan!
That's a spooky analogy Q…..Peyton Manning threw the super bowl too! Are we really supposed to believe that he would let a snap sail over his head on the very first play of the game or any other play for that matter and doesn't it seem a little strange that Eli's facial expression never changes no matter how good or bad things get……the devil at work

Love'n HoneyParticipantI'm confused..

1)the analogy is that we defend our team. and in doing so we don't realize that our emotions are guiding a good portion of "us". we "feel" that our team got the short end of the stick, and then we go out and find information that supports that conclusion. almost always we can do that. I could provide many examples but before basketball season is over, try this:
take $x for the price it will cost for admission to a local high school basketball game that you care nothing about either team. observe independently the play of the teams and compare that to the reactions of the fans in the stands. "my" team almost never fouls the other team, and if they did it certainly wasn't deserving to be called a foul because the other team "got away with worse". then find a parent of one of the teams that was outspoken during the game and convince them that the calls actually were pretty fair.
now take that observation and ramp up the stakes from nothing to the comraderie found in wmscog and also consider the one true path to salvation that rule-following will provide that answer to the primordial fear of death…
2)another analogy is that it is an essay written in reverse order.

Love'n HoneyParticipantSo.. are you saying the WMSCOG are defending their wrongs by pointing out someone else's worse-r wrong doings?
February 6, 2014 at 9:38 PM #66072
QuestioninginlaParticipantit depends upon the definition of "wrong".
I feel that the process of coming to a conclusion (which The True WMSCOG uses) is most definitely flawed and wrong.
but it is also natural behavior that he exhibits.
perhaps through analogies he can someday see the errors of his ways…
otherwise, it's kind of like arguing with a color-blind man what color something is – both will be correct, given their perspective point-of-view.

upon edit, I realized you were likely addressing something different. I would answer your question about pointing to someone else's wrongs – imho, it keeps people off the proverbial trail as well as keeping the focus elsewhere. don't do that and de facto I appear to be legit/more legit.

emilParticipantThe technique TTWMSCOG employs on his website articles is that he states a common accusation against their church. He then goes on to supply his perceived arguments in favour of the accusation. The arguments he supplies are the silliest ones he can find. Obviously he is able to show why the arguments he provided are so unbelievably stupid. Then all the sheeple come and post comments on how silly others are to blame the wmscog. How nice that TTW has exposed such silliness. Thanks be to papa and mama who are sacrificing so much.
They also another form of "counter measure" as they like to call it. State the accusation. Then say how stupid of people to say this about us. hasn't the Us president given us an award? Havent we also got an award from the Korean government? Usually there is no connection between the accusation and the award. But the sheeple love it.

I get it now! Yea, I completely see that a lot. I noticed for the book Ash wrote "Interpretation of.." they omit the general statements Ash made. All of my arguments concerning the book are about the general statements. So, of course they wouldn't select those statements to disect. They choose the silly ones.
Q-
I don't know if I posted it in my FB group or not.. but I saw a picture of a cylinder suspended in midair near a corner. In one direction, a light was shown and a circle shadow was cast on the wall. In another direction, a light was shown and a square shadow was cast on the other wall. If I say the shadow is square I am right. If you say the shadow is circle you are also right because it's all about perspective. But neither of us can say the other is wrong and yet.. we're still wrong.
