@mountain Yes. They will never admit their wrong. They also know how to mince truth and lies, and what NOT to say. Notice how in the NewJersey article, Pastor Daniel stated…"You will never find any written evidence that the church claimed the world would end in2012". Correct. Nothing was wrotten, published by them. But they said it. They insenuated it. It was made known, clearly. But what I fail to realize for the Elder members and Korean title holders is this; They know that 2012 has been pushed, when it didnt happen, why didnt they leave?

You know, you are right.  My son definitely knows what NOT to say.  That, I believe, is why he hardly ever says ANYTHING or communicates with us.  If we ask a question he is completely evasive.

    @mountain Lol, WMS does teach the art of evasive speech. My wife and I joke at home now, and use it as a joke, in the WMS jargon;

Wife- “Honey, did you take out the trash?”

Me- “Whugh….It was never stated for me to take out the trash. Can you show me where that was said? Such arrogance. Such slander”

@Untouchable:  It is pretty funny!  Lol!  I am glad that you can joke about it.  I swear, I haven't got a straight answer out of my son since he joined.  It's been years.  He couldn't answer me on some things, even if I just resorted to saying, "It's just a yes or no answer."  Couldn't even say that.  Wow.  At the beginning he wasn't as good at it, so I did get some answers out of him sometimes.  But later, we never talked about the church because every conversation would result in an argument, and I just didn't want that.  So in the few and far between times we talked after that, it was always so superficial:  How's the weather, etc?  And his  voice was always a flat monotone like he had no happiness or excitement in his life.  I would have to do most of the talking, and I would be the one calling him too. Nothing from him.  He had nothing in his life but the church, and it appears  that it wasn't a very happy existence.

It is truly amazing to me to read all of these posts.  At times I truly wonder if these leaders take a class or something.  How could all of these groups and dare I use the word "leaders" operate the same way?  How could our children…behave in the same manner and be given the same kind of directives?  Wish the people in WMSCOG realized that what they are being told "to not do" or "do" is the same thing that other groups say..do when it comes to their followers.  Think about it…the uniqueness of their group, the words they are hearing and the directions and fears being instilled are mirror images to what followers of other groups hear and experience.

This is true. It is never really about the doctrine. Once they recruit someone and the person commits to believing, they can feed them whatever they wish and the member will be believe it. I have spent the last couple of years studying cults and their behavior. There are many examples of cults having a major event proven false and yet the members follow. The people of Jonestown were not stupid, they just believed what their leader told them, just like the WMSCOG members believe their leaders. But like Michelle says in the article, "Nobody joins a cult" They are not told everything up front, but led in little by little. Then the big "impossible" doctrine gets slowly fed to them, supported by scriptures that they have found that could possibly be interpreted as they see fit.

If someone walked up to a possible recruit on the street and said, "Hey – come join our group! We believe a Korean woman is a god and a Korean man that died in 1984 is god the father. He is going to come back and collect all the believers and take us to heaven. In order to go, you have to spend all your time at the church. In order to elevate your status or rank in the church, you will need to recruit new members by pretending to care about them. You will need to live on only what you need and give the rest to the church. If you are white and single, you will be given a Korean wife or husband so they can have Visas in the US and spy on you and report your every move to the Korean leaders. If you are in college, you will be guilted into leaving because we will tell you over and over that the end is near. Why bother getting an education? Your family will be left behind. You will be made to feel guilty about visiting them or attending weddings or funerals. You will be taught that Christmas and Easter are pagan holidays and you will not be able to be with your family to celebrate them anymore. Even Thanksgiving is out because we will teach you that even though we cannot tie it to a pagan belief, we come up with a reason to keep you from celebrating with your family. But don't worry – we have activities at the church for you to attend on those days so you won't have time to think about your family or the fun they are having without you. But hey – once we get you in and believing, none of this will matter because you will be a follower and will be controlled by us. Trust us! You will love it! What's your telephone number?"

That sums it up pretty good Ms Freedom. Lol.

I was spoon fed like an infant. Here comes the air plane, open up. Don’t tell my overseer but I secretly joined the family for the holidays, even though they have pagan origins. 🙂 I wasn’t going to neglect the family to be under control of the church for nothing. Freedom is priceless. Its good to have it back. I’m going follow the words of Solomon, eat, drink, and be glad. Ecclesiastes 8:15

When my husband and I found out our daughter had been in this for about six weeks we went to visit her and try to reason with her. Her brother was in this so we knew a lot about it. I remember asking her “You don’t REALLY believe that the mother is god do you?” Her response was ” I don’t know, they haven’t told me that part yet”.

My son said the hardest part for him to "swallow" as he put it, was the bit about God the Mother.  I still think he really has his doubts.  But he tries to "pray them away."  He says Mother won't die.  Well, we'll see what happens when she does.  More lies, more cover ups.  More "swallowing lies" I predict, and I don't claim to be a prophet.  I just lay claim to common sense.

Parts 3 & 4 are up and couldn’t be more factually incorrect :). I hope that my ex sees this nonsense for what it really is. Btw, re-writing the past to make is seem terrible just to further the group’s agenda and keep a tight grip on the member is another characteristic of a CULT.

@Michele I was really tempted to leave a comment on their website, but I see through that trap. The jargon that the WMS members post is sickening. Why would any church be concerned with the relationship status of members, when they didnt try to help? Terrible. WMS just shows its true colors

If you did that it would either be deleted or drowned out by dozens upon dozens of " thank F&M so much for the truth comming out" comments. :/

Michele, I haven't even looked at the church's videos smearing you.  It is such a bunch of garbage that I think I would just get really ticked off, and I don't need that.  Besides, like everyone has says, I feel they would delete our comments and/or drown them out with their own.  Funny thing is, why would a church group get involved in someone else's busness so deep that they would make a video about it?  I have yet to see any real Christian church make derogatory videos about someone else's marriage.  And where is your ex in all of this?  Has he no voice?  So bizarre, so un-Christian like.  So cult-like.

Sorry you have to go through this.

The Saddleback church in Southern CA certainly has its critics, especially Christians who believe the church is focusing more on the person than on the Bible and God. I have never seen a video created by the church attacking their critics and engaging on personal attacks to the point of their marriage and family members.

Lakewood Church with Joel Olsteen has many critics that attack the church and especially Joel himself. I have never seen a video produced by the church that focuses on their critics and supports their views of vicious lies and persecution.

Both of these churches are some of the largest in the country and they obviously have the money to take this approach. But they are Christian churches and take the high road.

Scientology on the other hand does exactly what WMS does in attacking anyone that speaks out against them. They make videos, build websites and even hire people to follow ex-members. Why do the actions of WMS match the actions of Scientology instead of the Christian churches? Because they are both cults.

Keep it up WMS! Your actions are another validation that you fit the characteristics of a mind control group – C U L T

It was pointed out above that this "True WMSCOG" website is really planted for those already in the cult or those being recruited.  And I agree it fulfills this purpose and for WMSCOG is a counter to the efforts of other sites to discredit its "theology" (a stretch to use that word).  I would guess that an attorney (or two or three) vetted this series on Michelle's marriage before they posted it.

I consider the WMSCOG site as a compliment to the success of the efforts of those behind this Examining site.  The Examining site has done a wonderful job exposing WMSCOG for what it truly is, and IMO have kept many from being caught into the cult, as well as helping those trapped in find a way out.    Some day our child will find a way out.  Meantime this site and forum has provided a great way to help maintain our sanity while waiting.

@Heinrich I agree…this site has been one of the leading weapons against WMS. When I was a member, I remember coming to this and other sites, “defending Mother and Father”, but when I would read similar accounts to things in WMS I had seen, I began to slowly want the truth. Anybody who is a member and comes here, is probably doing the same, and they must admit that to themselves. They are doubtful, concerned and see errors in the WMS that can’t be denied. As much as WMS tells its members “The internet has tons of slander”, they don’t stop members from going to this site and other venues to speak out against those whom oppose their lies.
