The Bucket List. It made me think.

I just got done watching the Bucket List again. There are some things that I would like to do before God takes me to Heaven however, it made me reflect back on my life and some of the things that I have already done and been a part of. I have been a teacher, a student, ran a charity, swam in a glacer fed lake, I've driven a big rig, walked for charity, parasailed, work as an electrician, green broke a horse, took firefighting training, worked in food service, was a lifeguard, a Boyscout, took wilderness survival, lived halfway around the world for a time, survived a motorcycle accident, built a church, taught children how to ride horses, did several rope obstacle courses, been in a burning building, saw someone get hit and killed by lightening, I know how to use a map and compass better than I know how to use a GPS, cut down a tall tree, I can start a fire without matches, I've been to college twice, participated in student government, ect… Many people have varied lives like mine and like me there are many people who grew up in church believeing in Jesus Christ. So far one of the most rewarding things that I've done in my life came out of a trajety. My loved one got involved with the WMS and because of this I have gotten involved and have not only helped to save my loved ones life but the lives of several others. This has been one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done and I am thankful. God did not let me go through the rest of my life with blinders on He opened me up to make me useful for His kingdom. If this event would have never happened I would not be the warrior that God has created. All honor praise and glory goes to Him. What is some of the things that you have encountered in your lives?

I take flying lessons and would love to fly a jet around Ireland and prove the inconsistency of the fake churches.  That's my bucket list.

I love to travel, to go places and see things.  I've walked the Great Wall of China and hiked in Yosemite, gone up the Eiffel Tower and the CN Tower and the Peak in Hong Kong and the London Eye, toured the Vatican City and the Forbidden City, walked beaches of Mexico and California and Florida and Holland, been in the dome of St. Paul's and on the roof of the Milan Duomo and the spire of the cathedral of Cologne, and visited a concentration camp and a California Mission and a homeless shelter.  I've seen the Colosseum, the Grand Canyon, the Smithsonian Museum, the Louvre, Neuschwanstein Castle, and Crater Lake.  Lots more I've seen and done, and lots more I'd like to see and do in the future.

Something I'd love to do as soon as my children are old enough is take them on trips to Africa and India (and any other place that presents itself), not just for fun but to help with Christian ministries.  I'd like them to get a sense of how others in the world live and to not take for granted our lives here.

I also love to travel. Hiked lots of Appalachin trail, and went the Philmont Scout ranch in New Mexico. I've been to France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel, and the Caribbean. I've definitely got the travel bug. Israel was probably my favorite place, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, and the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth were incredibly moving.

On the to do list, I want to hike Mount Kilmanjaro with my Dad someday, but its mighty expensive… God willing, someday…

I agree…. Not so sure I feel the same way about Israel. I feel we side with that country no matter what, but that's a political debate and I'll leave it alone. ๐Ÿ™‚ My sister loves Jerusalem.

Sarah, I agree with you about the politics… I'll leave it at that.

I'd like to go to Jerusalem.  And I wish I could start a fire without matches.  And it would be awesome to learn how to fly.  You all are inspiring. ๐Ÿ™‚

Philmont is where the guy I was with was killed by lightening. Still wouldn't give up scouting though. I find God's sense of humor funny now that I'm an electrician. Genny, I have been to many of the places you have. Someday we'll get together and exchange stories. As for lighting a fire without matches; try using steel wool and a nine volt battery. It's pretty effective. One of my undone bucket list things is to get into politics. You probably think I'm a little crazy for wanting this but I feel that you cannot create change if you wont get involved. I guess that idea works here to. If we hadn't gotten involved then some of these changes might not have happened. Sarah, I find that we have one more thing in common. I also have taken flying lessons. The thrill of being in the air, well there's nothing quite like it.

Wouldn't it be funny, Joshua, if we ran into each other at some far off place?  Not that we could easily recognize each other, having never met, but still… ๐Ÿ™‚

It's funny you mention getting into politics.  I was talking yesterday with a bunch of third graders about citizenship and how in the United States we elect our leaders and have the freedom to vote, which not all countries have.  Great discussion with those young ones about it, and one of them asks, "Are you allowed not to vote?"  So I got to explain that yes, you are free to vote and free to not vote, but of course if you don't vote you miss your opportunity to make your voice heard, and as I always say, if you don't vote, you can't complain about the way things are.

True Genny. I just wish the choices were a lot better than the last time. I admit. I didn't vote. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, I didn't much like the choices last time either.  I voted, but not very enthusiastically.
