When I was a member, I was told that people who had left the wms had gotten sick, gotten into bad car accidents, etc. Did anyone else hear similar stories?

It does seem like kind of a "Big Brother" type thing to do. That's 1984 big brother, not your big brother Tommy. The "book of life" is essentially a giant database of everyone they've ever baptised. Think of how you would use that if you were a multi-level marketing type scam…like the WMSCOG is.

Yeah, that's true Simon. With cameras everywhere now, pretty much everybody's got your picture. I guess as an "outsider" to this group, I just can't defend them having all that personal info. It's a church, you don't need to know where I live or have my picture to "save" me.

They like to have your address to visit you in case you fall away or need help getting to zion, etc. When I was in the hospital, I was visited by cog members and they called me everyday to make sure I was ok.
That's quite nice of them. It really does seem to me that the lower level members of this group are great people.
Yea.. My missionary and some sisters visited me. I wish o could talk to them but i know i can’t.. =(
