I saw a comment in the "Home" part of the site where a member is talking about the people on here telling Satanic lies. Anyway, she goes on to say that Satan uses the internet, people lying, and yes, even children, to keep members away from Zion. I asked this person how does Satan use children to keep members from coming to Zion, but I got no answer.
I did read the book by Joo Cheol Kim, "My Sheep Listen to my Voice," and on one of the pages it lists things that he considers temptaions of Satan, and sandwiched in between things like greed, jealousy, and other negative things he listed "family and children."

UntouchableJParticipantWMS believes anyone or thing that tries to take you away from Gospel work, is or has been influenced by Satan.Example; Your 1year old crying in the mall while your trying to preach to someone who you striked a convo with, Satan. I remember members blaiming EVERYTHING on Satan, and a sermon on the subject.

MountainMomParticipantSo sad. Blaming little children.

UntouchableJParticipantThe argument I was told was, “When Jesus said to Peter, “Get behind me Satan”, Was Peter really Satan?”. It was later paraphrased that Satan influenced Peter for that time, not necessarily, jumped into his body and had him acting like the kid from the Poltergeist.

MountainMomParticipantTo me it seems like Joo Cheol Kim is trying everything to undermine the bond of children and parents. Even though it is done subtly, it is done relentlessly. In his book "My Sheep Listen to My Voice" he says that young children should not be with their parents in the sanctuary during sermons because when the mother tends to the demands of her child she is not giving attention to the sermon. He goes on to say something like, visitors (read new recruits) will be disturbed and not have the experience there that they should if they have to put up with children. He puts adult recruits before the chidren, always, in my opinion. They are the ones who can supply money sooner, after all.
It goes on with older parents and children as well. Our sons and daughter who are in this group have no time for us anymore because the church allows them no time. They undermine the relationships and try to minimize the bonds, and this is subtle at first, but pretty darn direct later. Members are told to "rebuke" their parents for speaking out against the church. I am sure this is what my son was told. I don't think he wanted to do it at all, but he admitted he was "under a lot of pressure." So who was pressuring him? I think we know who.

UntouchableJParticipant@Mountain Your correct. There in encouragment to prevent others from speaking poorly. I think it may vary, depending on the Overseer. Once, between services, a member brought a group of young men to the church. We assumed they were from the Hebrew Isrealite faith, they were pretty well versed and began challenging the overseer. When they started goint back and forth, the Overseer kicked them out. As they were leaving, they began to say that we were in a cult and should leave. The Overseer and a Deacon began to yell “Shut your Mouths!” and “Get out now, talking bad about our God,YOUR Ignorant!!”. Now, the men never refused to leave and were walking. The Overseer then screamed to the male members “What you doing?Go, make sure they leave!!!” I and a handful of brothers escorted the men off the grounds. When we came back, we were rebuked, and told stories from other “Zions” where male members have physically escorted members off the church property and even gotten into fights. I remember thinking, “That was wrong” and how a fight could have escalated and we were yelling and ranting louder than them. I also felt that would have been a lawsuit waiting to happen. We had male members that were labeled as, “Security”, but they had zero training. I even offered to show the male members some training based on my background, but it was shot down. So we know that members are encouraged to stick up for “mother” at many costs.

@UntouchableJ I don't find it hard at all to believe that the WMS members would escalate to that kind of inapropriate behaviour when in my experience they are so full of zeal for WMS teachings. I remember 'brothers' and 'sisters' saying to me "If mother asked me to do it then I would do it, no questions!" and this was said more than once and by WMS members.I witnessed several heated arguments between people who were just visiting and our WMS members. Most of the arguments were about what we the WMS wanted to dispute and it was always the same retoric that we had been brainwashed into believing. I didn't get involved when this happened because I remember at the time being really disapointed at how inappropriate it was to me that we were arguing with people we were trying to 'save'.

JoshuaParticipantJesus said to bring the children to him. It's simply another failure of the WMSCOG's understanding of what being Christ like is supposed to be. Pathetic!

UntouchableJParticipantHyde- The heated arguments happen alot. The building of the “zion” I was at, was a former Methodist church that had living quarters that they offered to the poor. Many locals remembered that and we had less fortunate people come to the church a few times. But due to the high end camera system, they were spotted a mile away and diverted from the property or ignored. When the property was first aquired a man had snuck in between services and was found in the basment, sleeping. He told the member who found him, “I just wanted a room for the night”. Another time, two men came in wanting a hot meal, and a bible study. When the overseerA saw that they were inside the church, he yelled at them and told them to get out. One of the men took a swing at him and they were escorted out. Ironically, because of our brainwashing, we never questioned why the supposed, “True” church waa turning away the poor, and why weren’t we helping the needy.

Mayor and MikeParticipantGod once said Woe to the shepherds of Israel, "you eat the curds, clothes yourselves with the wool, and slaughter the choice lambs, but you do not take care of the flock. You have not strengthen the weak, or healed the sick, or bounds up the injured… you have ruled over them harshly and brutally." Eze 34:3-4. I'm not saying leaders in the wmscog are Israel. But I'm saying that God is watching them.

HydeParticipantThere was a time when WMS was on a campaign to garner media attention. So the deacon asked me, because I am a local, if I knew of an orphanage that WMS could visit and invite the news media along to capture it on camera. I said firstly that there are no orphanages in our town then I told him I would go home and think about it. So I confided in my REAL mother and we agreed that we were against this type of campaign because it was too hypocritical. I consulted my bible and found Jesus' warning against doing 'works' for the benefit of being seen by the public. So I felt I had some ammunition to get the deacon to change his mind. I took my mother with me to 'Zion' and we confronted the deacon and his wife. I showed them the verses I had found in the New Testament but they dismissed it, saying it was now the "age of the Holy Spirit now and everything is different from the age of Jesus". I should have seen the light at this point but I considered the decon to be my friend and I wasn't ready to leave our friendship behind. Anyway it turns out that the media simply isn't iterested in WMS acts of kindness because other 'Babylon' churches go to much greater lengths to serve the community without seeking the limelight. I know this very well because since leaving the WMS I have studied Community Services as a tertiary student and I have seen how much these churches and not-for-profit organisations actually do for our community AND they don't try to become famous or convert people.
