Religion vs. Christianity

I was doing some reading today and I came accross a saying that makes a lot of sense to me. "Religion is one-way communication with God in which you try to please Him. Christianity is two-way communication in which you hear Him speak of His love for you everyday." Often I have said that I don't like religion. I look at religion as a man made thing and a fairly destructive thing many times. The WMSCOG is a key example of this! People pray to these false gods, get no real answers, and are convinced that for some reason this is the right way. Many of my prayers have been answered although not always the way that I would like them to have been answered. When I have gotten an answer and then tried to go it alone because I thought that it just couldn't be right the way it was answered I failed and usually fell pretty hard in the process. This doesn't mean that I didn't try hard enough, it means that I did not accept Gods Will and I rebelled. I brought on the failures and repercussions myself by being rebellious. When I keep in two-way communication with God and accept that what He does and doesn't do is better than my own way things go a lot better. Religion sucks! I'll keep trying to be a Christian. What are your thoughts?

I appreciate your humor and I like George Carlin a lot but all I can say here is that I disagree. Peace my friend.

Lol. You're like a broken record, man.

Try something new. And maybe do some research. Comedy doesn't count.

The sad thing for me is that while I am happy to be a former member, I still find myself in the clutches of their teachings. A friend invited me to her Sunday church and I personally don’t feel comfortable enough to go. I will not go to any weddings or funerals in any church for now. I agree with you that religion is man made. So for now, I will worship God in a manner that I hope is pleasing to Him.
