UntouchableJParticipantIt kills me, how the members respond and feed off of each other in such a leading way.
April 19, 2016 at 8:56 AM #71628
Ms FreedomParticipantAn obvious campaign by the church, asking the members to watch and comment. There is not one negative comment on there which shows they are sensoring the comments. From a previous forum topic, I again ask the question – how is this helping the WMS? The current members already believe her story. The people who are ex-members know the truth and understand that this is a PR move (somewhat primitive) to defend WMS. The people who are never going to believe their scam will never watch it because they don't care. So good for them! A waste of church money to make a video that has no affect!
However, the original video put out by the Today Show was effective. Like I said earlier, you can forget about Rebecca's story all together – the real powerful clip that reveals them as a cult is the hundreds of people in Korea worshipping the mother, the men in white shirts on the hill (all looking the same) reading the Bible, and the followers in the yellow t-shirts yelling "we love you!" That screams CREEPY CULT!!

UntouchableJParticipantI agree, Ms.Freedom. Their own arrogance is, “Aaammmaaaazzziiinnnggg”. They are defending themselves against claims they can’t undue. Viewers of the original Today show video can see the real issues, such aa the fact that Rebecca never answered the question, when she was asked if she was in an arranged marriage.
April 19, 2016 at 4:52 PM #71630
jw03550ParticipantWe must admit that what she says in her video is true….
From her point of view, that is.
It is amazing how close she is to figuring it out – she talks of her parents seeing through rose-colored glasses, yet she ignores the possibility that she herself may be wearing glasses of influence.
April 19, 2016 at 10:28 PM #71631
UntouchableJParticipantShe is def. denying her own influence, and this is the danger of group think, on ANY level. A group of murderers,pedophiles or whatever, together, will justify their evils. And so will the WMS. When the reporter asked, “Are you in an arranged marriage”, Rebecca answered very emotionally, “Nobody forced me to get Married!!” Again, it wasn’t the question. And based on human Psychology, and things Ive learned, we usually deflect what we AREN’T comfortable with. People have been in arranged marriages for forever. Its not something thats all uncommon. So lets ask ourselves, “Why didnt she calmly answer, ‘Yes, my marriage was arranged.’ ?” She honestly, deep down psychologically, doesnt agree with it. I’ll play devils advocate for a second;
1. Maybe she felt she was protecting, “Mother” and the church’s way of doing things. A: Why does God need soo much “protecting”? Members often times defend accusations that havent been made, or even assumed. Many times, this is done on regards to issues that don’t need explaining.
April 19, 2016 at 11:10 PM #71632
jw03550ParticipantI "like" how Rebecca brought up the website of "ex"members and how they "act" like a "cult"….and I have made a similar acusation here as well.
HOWEVER
We don't kick out and ostracize people that disagree or speak out against inconsistencies. Rather – it is encouraged, even if we do give and take hard times with one another.
We are also missing the deity here that we all should agree with.
In other words, Rebecca, when we disagree here, we dont have a belief system that "Satan is pulling us away and destroying the website" to thought-stop us like they do in the us-vs-them world that you live in.
So,
find a new example for "cults", but good luck doing that in the world of half-truths that you live in….

Abhigail DelemaParticipantRebecca needs to know that here in India families are affected without any cult experts.they are all thought by the leaders through the pastors and they are separated from their families. Here in India people are not at all excited to hear about god in flesh because we have many ladies who claim to be god as per my experience I know all were baptized without knowing the truth of Father and Mother when I joined only showing sabbath and Passover and after a little more studies who brought us all these truth ?and then Father and mother aears .Rebecca also says that everyone talks or focus on the negative side of a person not the positive side, sad to say that is what the WMSCOG does too ,I know of many ex-members who left and have worked very hard for the organization who have given their time ,money, and have established churches in different states who have stood by them when they were not registered in India but today they are called satan, judas etc.Regarding 2012 the end is a mystery it is difficult to prove because they did not let us write sermons, but we were shown a movie soon after the sermon, the movie 2012 and we were told Father and Mother inspired the famous directors of Hollywood to awaken the peoples of the world that the end is very near so they can see the last disaster.Even the use of internet was forbidden even taking a credit card, taking money on loan or life insurance policy was not allowed it meant we did not belive in the Passover, but today I know that a decon,a lady missionary has taken a apartment on loan plus motor bike.I would love to put a comment on the video on you tube but I know they will erase it, because all the comments the goodie ones are put by the instructions of the pastor that is what they told us to do at the I have already come video to go like and subscribe.Even giving money to the church was told by pastors and leaders they said what is the use of money in your bank account if the world ends tomorrow what will you tell father and mother on last day.Rebecca talks about changing glasses and seeing things I wish she does so herself or come out of the egg shell and see how beautiful the people of the world are. There is know doubt for me to belive that the wmscog is a cult.
April 20, 2016 at 6:18 AM #71634
UntouchableJParticipantHow could referencing Ex-members be considered a cult? We don’t have group think. Heck, many of us didn’t claim every part of the doctrine was a lie. There were good experiences that O personally had during my time there. I met some great people. When members make accusations back, its like child like finger pointing?
Non member- “Rebecca, are you in a cult?”
Rebecca-“No YOUR in a cult! You are! And your slanerous lies will get you into hell!”
Non-member”*facepalm* I only asked a question”
Thats why honestly, I won’t argue or debate with current members any longer. At least not on a level justifying Christianity from an alternate view.
April 20, 2016 at 1:40 PM #71635
setufreeParticipantThis poor girl, I pray for her. I'm sure she's under immense pressure to keep posting videos about this subject from the leaders.
Abihigail , we were also told that Father and Mother influenced Hollywood into making such great movies like 300, The Matrix, 2012, and so on. Haha.
April 20, 2016 at 1:52 PM #71636
HydeParticipant@Abhigail Delema, I also remember being told to go on YouTube and like and view the "I have already come" videos. In fact we were all told to visit them as much as we possibly could to bump up the numbers. When I think about it now I can only laugh at what a fool I had been to follow that sort of teaching. I mean really… 'father and mother' can do all things but they need a leg up on YouTube?!
April 20, 2016 at 1:58 PM #71637
MountainMomParticipantI remember an ex member saying that she was also pressured to do videos. She was supposed to do them to help them deny the church is racist. She laughed about it and basically said later, not to put much faith in those.
When a group like this tries too hard, like they are doing with Rebecca now, it just makes them look worse. People are being pressured to comment on the Rebecca videos while the negative comments are not allowed. Some day they will look back and see the manipulation for what it is.
April 21, 2016 at 4:39 AM #71638
Abhigail DelemaParticipantI also remember when they told us to say a few words to Mother or say something good after the Passover ceromony or members travelling to Korea. They would get members all excited and there would be about 20 retakes even for a zion photo after any feast saying this picture are going to Korea for Mother to see.I just wonder how many retakes Rebecca has taken to make this video and the pressure she must have gone true.I have also seen how media hungry they are when they do street cleaning and charity work,I tell you for me these people are a big fake.
April 21, 2016 at 7:38 AM #71639
UntouchableJParticipant@Hyde. I never put it together until after I left, that when you have a youtube video that is viewed over a certain amount, YT has to pay you. That may not be much for a regular person with a small video that has been watched 2K times, but imagine the “I have already come” vid.
@Ahbigail When the dance routine for “I have already come” came out, we practiced outside for an hour. I remember it vividly. Retake after retake. If God/Jerusalem is supposed to be the praise of all nations, why such rudimentary methoda to fulfill such a prophecy.
April 21, 2016 at 8:37 AM #71640
HydeParticipant-Sorry for my long winded rant but I just have to get this out.
Rebecca is a respectable person who is obviously not stupid. Same goes for most WMS members in my opinion. Whether or not these people are bad or clever is not even something I hold onto as being an issue. The blind faith of WMS members is the matter, because, I am convinced, it is the sort of faith that can only lead to destruction; either inward or outward.
As a former member, I also partook in the blind following “for my salvation”. We were under the herd mentality and because of it we loved to stick together and point the finger at our ‘opponents’. We would say “the world belongs to satan – but we have zion – We must save the world!”. So we went out and tried to convert people using this foundation of paranoia.
The WMS is more than defensive of it’s beliefs, as seen in the comments and content of this video. They hold a sword and shield to reasonable scrutiny. Typical WMS responses to criticism are reactionary ones. Overcompensating for flaws in the doctrine and defending ‘zion’ to the hilt.
I do agree with Rebecca that having the media following you is threatening. However it just shows to me how desperate your parents are to win you back. They would try anything if they thought it might work because THEY LOVE YOU.
Ironically WMS teaches us to love our ‘father and mother’ and this is a great teaching in essence, until WMS ask you to choose between your two different sets of parents; your REAL father and mother OR AhnSahngHong and Zhang Gil-Jah – ‘father and mother’ and I ask you, Is that a natural choice? Does God almighty want you to reject your loving parents in front of everyone because they are not ‘Gods’?
Christians follow Jesus because he teaches wisdom. Yet WMS teaches us to be divided against other followers of Jesus – the ‘babylon churches’. These other churches have members who believe in Jesus, yet WMS says we need to covert them to something better. What is better than Jesus if he is your only God? My point is that WMS don’t just follow Jesus as their saviour and I think Rebecca and other WMS members know this but they hate to admit it.
April 21, 2016 at 12:43 PM #71641
MountainMomParticipantI believe you are exactly right Hyde. I believe many in the Wms have doubts. Some who have been in a long time cannot admit it, but they are staying for other reasons than that they actually believe Jhang Gil Jha is God. Some see the deceptions, they know it is fake, but just don't know how to leave.

HydeParticipant
@MountainMom – How hard it must be for their families…April 21, 2016 at 3:30 PM #71643
MountainMomParticipantIt is the grieving that never ends for the families. If you weren't related, maybe you could escape the grief and heal eventually. You could deal with the pain from losing a friend, maybe even a significant other. But when you have a son/daughter in this cult, you can't stop the pain. It's with you all the time. They are your flesh and blood and you can't just leave them, even when it is so painful that you know it would be better for you, yourself if you could. You are bound in a helpless hopeless state. You learn to live with it, but it hurts deeply every day.
The member who is lost to you hurts also. They have lost you as well as you losing them. The only ones who aren't hurt are the pastors and the hierarchy in the Wms. Ever notice how happy they are all the time? They have gained from the situation, and they are the only ones. Money and power drive them. The leaders are the ones who know for sure it is a farce and a scam, and they laugh all the way to the bank. They have it just as they want it, in my opinion.
April 21, 2016 at 3:48 PM #71644
MountainMomParticipantI have a letter my son wrote me before he went into the Wms. He told me that he trusted me above all others. He said he knew I always did the right thing, and that I was the best role model a person could ever have. He said he loved me and respected me more than anyone else he knew.
Now this same son will not answer emails, texts, or even pick up the phone. He didn't come home for four years in a row, and then when he did, he was apparently afraid to really converse with us or even stay at our house at all.
The Wms worked on my son to argue with me, even when I didn't bring up the subject of the church at all for years. I tried to hang on to a relationship with him and just talk superficially, like we all do. But no matter what, no matter if he won't admit it, he knows what they did to force problems and advise him not to have a relationship with me. It is relentless. Now they want him to act like there are no problems in his family. It is a strategy because they have gotten so much well deserved bad press on damaging families. He knows there are problem caused by his involvement, and he knows he is living a lie if he tries to portray it any other way to new recruits or other members. No one in our family will join this bunch. They know what it is. The Wms people lied to him. They told him we would all join if he kept after us. No one has. No one ever will.
April 21, 2016 at 5:15 PM #71645
KelliParticipantWell said Mountain mom, I totally agree, still praying for you and your Family… Please try and Remember, The Harder the Lesson, The Bigger the Blessing… I repeat that to myself daily…
April 21, 2016 at 6:25 PM #71646
MountainMomParticipantI'll try to remember that Kelli. I really try to focus on my blessings. Some days are just harder than others.
