In hindsight of this article, two quotes come to mind upon refecting on weather or not I should continue what I am doing.

I have just as much hate for the WMS as I always have. But something recently happend in my life that makes me consider 'hanging up the gloves' so to speak.
On one hand, even though I know that some people in this forum have done more then I ever will, I feel spent. I have made videos. Through the videos current members have contacted me and left the cult as a result of our conversations. I have told my story to the media. Met wonderful people on the forum: Mountain mom, Heinrich Hochalter, Joshua, Untouchable J, I love you guys. Maybe i've done all I'm gonna do.
But then on the other hand, the monster is still out there, and it must be stopped.
In his video, Chris Herbert said that as a result of the emptiness he felt leaving the WMS, that he "does not get excited about anything anymore". I can not express how much that is my situation right now. Nothing excites me……NOTHING. I sometimes cant even think of a reason to get out of bed in the morning lol. There is no more magic left in the world.
I will say however that the only thing that makes me feel alive again, is opposing the WMSCOG. Then one might feel poised to ask "what are you whining about dummy????" To which I would respond " to what end?"
Will Zanhg ever go to jail and be publicly humiliated as she deserves? will the WMS ever be dissolved and destroyed???? Will the hurt they've cause and the evil they have spread ever be atoned for? These are just the ends that I would personally like to see come to fruition. Are they realistic? Because unitl then it is consantly checking text messages, emails, youtube comments and constantly being on the look out online and in public in vigilance against this group.
Maybe i'll hang up the gloves, maybe ill live out the rest of my life chuckling about the memory that I once believed that I was gonna fly from star to star and rule galaxies for eternity.
Or maybe I wont. Maybe it is my purpose. A question I pose to ALL: Will the WMSCOG matter after our lives are over????? this is the real question I am grappling with. Any input will be appreciated. Sorry if I sound like a downer.
Brian…You, Chris and Ron have helped me beyond words. Live. Thats what I have to say. You have a new addition, and a wonderful lady by your side. Find what moves your spirit. I have been back into reading, and African History (something my Ex-Overseer told me to stop studying after he coerced info out of my wife). You may be able to battle WMS with more of a joyful heart. I always think to a point I used to tell the inmates at my job, “Who does a warrior fight, when there is no more enemy?”
Sometimes the enemy doesnt want to fight. Either way, you have to look within yourself. You have helped many. Reach out if you need to ttalk.
Brian, you have helped so many people, and you are so appreciated! I agree with Untouchable. If you need to take time out or want to hang up the gloves, then do so, and take care of yourself. That is very very important. The joy in life will come back. Believe me, I have been there. I thought several times in this ordeal that I would never be happy again. I still have my days, but I can tell you that I have found a way to focus on the good things I still have and feel blessed. You lose sight of those things temporarily when dealing with this abomination, but it will get better. I promise you it will. Call me any time. I admire your courage and your efforts more than I can tell you!
I’m glad that you shared your experiences from your Zion Brian. The same problems in my old zion are present in your zion. Many are struggling. I’m still struggling with the ill effects of this place. And many have believed the WMS fantasies.
I think people have an WMS expiring date. You and I have reached it sooner than others. We just have to rebuild and take back what we lost or regain what we used to have. So in the mean time we have overcome the ill effects.

isn't there some sort of conflict here that the church leadership is using someone that also is on record about the problematic nature of WMSCOG as an authority to discredit Hassan?
For many, leaving a coercive thought control group like WMSCOG is traumatic. Particularly those who were trapped in it for several years. It takes time to adapt back into the world outside the contrived boundaries of the cult.
As UntouchableJ noted, you have a new family of your own to help you refocus your heart. Maybe it is time to step back and just focus on the world around you.
It is frustrating to realize the lies and deceptions practiced by the Koreans that run this cult may go unpunished. You are probably feeling that. But it is something you cannot control. You can, however, and you already have …. helped those who are suffering. That is the best you can do. If by your actions you can keep a few young people from being sucked in …. then you have accomplished something truly important in THEIR lives. And that is what you can continue to do.
But maybe for now you need to take a step back and focus on those who are very close to you. There will always be some time in the future to come back and help!!!
Do it. Debate your heart out. A current member would be under the control of the church. Unless you can get a WMS leader. That would be good. But they would be well versed in the bible and their doctrine.
I say do it!Because they always think that trolling makes the Ex-member look bad. What WMS always fails at is that current members, go to Ex-members youtube channels, blogs and websites, for guidance.
Small testimony; I watched Brians first youtube vid, several times when STILL a member. At that point I knew WMS was a lie, but I was afraid to come out, and my wife was a title holder. What was ironic, was that NJy wife saw Chris Herbert’s vid and was strengthened enough to leave and I followed. So, the Arrogance that WMS is always accusing others of having, is only in their own hearts.

Brian, going back to your OP, I have researched this forum's history and it is obvious that at some point everybody "has" to take a break.
You done good kid, now go take care of your family and have a life. Your still a young guy and you have a lot of life to live!
Make the most of it, especially since you already lost a few years of that life.
Others will pick up the slack and if we need you, we know where to find you!
Your wife, family and future should be priority #1 from now on!
You have done great work here and the wms is not going to debate you on youtube, so get lost! LOL
The same goes for any other young person who feels they are starting to get too consumed, (that's not good for your mental health)
Old Timers, you're allowed to take "bathroom breaks" so to speak but we still have to protect and serve…the kids and the families….
just be sure to take those breaks, that's important for you too!
Oh, Brian, one more thing, I get why you have the beard and I would never tell you to shave it but maybe just trim it a little bit, your a handsome guy and it's a competitive world out there.

additionally, my opinion here, we focus too much on the micro aspects of what this group does. it makes it personal to the members. there should be more distance. that is, a focus on the macro – the shunning, the discrediting of any and all who speak out, as well as the silence of those that are afraid, that the latter is not to be assumed to be agreement with the group, but rather to document it as remaining fear – fear of loss of friends and family for….speaking out. and how so many other "high demand" groups feature the same behaviors.
but Ive tried that with my friend, too, and I can only hope that the seed will someday sprout…

Seeing their tactics, I kbon that even if you win, they will record and edit it to say something else.
Ya, I don’t think you could get an overseer. From my experience they seem, in my opinion, to stay in the shadows, get others to do the dirty work and keep their hands clean. If you can get one it would be a challenge. They are quite the negotiators. I think some of them are even master debaters. So be careful. :). Lol.

I am just wondering, what is an overseer exactly? I know of the ranks of deacons, missionaries, pastors, etc., but where does an overseer fall in that hierarchy? Or is it just another name for deacon.

Overseer is either your group leader or it could also be the person who recruited you depending on their level of faith. It's whoever is in charge of spying on you and keepiong your faith in line
It also depends a bit on that persons ability to take orders and follow out tasks
(Not everyone is an overseer but everyone is an overseer)
An Overseer is a member of at least Deacon level, that can run the/a Zion. You can be a Missionary, but not in charge of a Zion.
