Just a crazy question for conversation sake!

Joseph Smith is viewed by many in the Mormon church as a prophet. Here's a really simplified version of how and why Joe created the Mormon faith. Joe is contemplating things one day when an angel named Maroni reviels to him the location of some ancient gold tablets. These gold tablets reviel "hidden truth" about god and his kingdom as well as a history of Jesus and his visitations to other people after the resurrection and assention. After finding the hidden location of these tablets and translating the heavenly text which was written on them Joe asked God which church he should be attending that has the truth. God supposedly told Joe that he should not attend any of them because they are all false. (I'll bet this sound familiar!) God instructed Joe to start his own church. (Mormons)(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints)

Why didn't God tell him to join or create the WMSCOG? Why didn't Ahn join the Mormons? Why are the Mormons growing faster than the WMS? (This last question flies right in the face of the WMS because of their claim that they are the only ones growing while all of the other churches are in decline.) Please comment on this. Oppinions are great and if you want to add anything factual that would be welcomed also. (BTW, I'm a Christian not a Mormon. Please don't confuse me with that.)

well I don't know, I suppose that this could turn into a very long thread. However I will say this: it seems like most countries have produced some kind of messiah, or 'made God in their image' if you will. You've already expounded two good examples in joey smith and the all too familiar Mr. Ahn. Here I want to take the opportunity to present yet another, Felix Manalo of the Phillipines. I don't need to say anything else about him except, google him, recognize the same pattern and roll your eyes.

But anyway, back to Joey and Mr.Ahn. I am an athiest ( bordering on antithiest these days) and I say that one thing both these charlatans share in common is that they both make me, in an abstract sense, want to believe in god. Because if I believed in god, then I would believe that there is a hell for both of them to burn in. And on top of that, I must say, that they are both dead. They are both buried somewhere, in coffins. And if either of them used an enema they could be buried in a match box!

( P.S. I fully admit to borrowing prose from a personal hero of mine in this post. Can anyone guess who I am borrowing from?)

Well, i like to believe some of these “so called” prophets actually saw the devil in disguise. But hey, i could be wrong. Mighty funny how it says test the spirit and if what they say dont come to pass, fear them not. People are just saying, “yes, that sounds believable! I’ll follow you!” Without even testing the spirit. Those people that are saying “follow me” dont even want you to question them.
