Hi. Somehow I came across your article. And I read it. And I'm SO sad that happened to you. I'm a member of the Church of God. And regardless of the many hate/threats I'm probably going to get after this comment, I HAD to reach out to you. First off, I want to apologize on behalf of anyone that hurt you. The Church of God DOES NOT TEACH arrogance or putting people down, or any of the things you have experienced. But I HAVE TO STRESS TO YOU that ANYONE in the flesh is a SINNER. So the church member you encountered may took out their own underlying problem on you. The Church of God beliefs in God the Father & God the Mother. Therefor we are a family. That sister might have been upset with you like a TYPICAL BIG SISTER. For example; if your little sister starts skipping school or something, you would get annoyed. That sister probably felt like you were "skipping church". I really believe it was a LACK OF COMMUNICATION. Why is it people HATE so much? Since I've been coming to the Church of God, I've learned what it means to care about someone other then myself. I learned what it means to let go of MY EGO, MY OPINIONS and try to humble myself. The hardest thing for a human being to do is humble themselves, be gentle…and I think EVERYONE struggles with that. As far as THE CHURCH OF GOD. You cannot discredit their teachings from a bad experience. I'm not here to throw bible verses or facts at anyone. My job isn't to convert people either. I just wish you the best of luck on the rest of your life &; I hope one day God leads you back when the time is right. It hurts me more to know people LOVE GOSSIP. They make Church of God seem like a horror movie. When in reality it's the most positive place in the world. In a society that is dominated by every form of sin, its amazing to find SOMEWHERE that teaches about God. Not about "a god" that fits my personal life….but about True God. Feel free to curse me out or whatever after this for everyone else. I just hope this girl feels how sincere I feel when I said I hope the best for you and pray for anyone else like you that walked away from God because of a sinner's bad example. We <3 you still.

Louie Giglio has an awesome presentation. He uses all sorts of science and astronomy as well as the Bible to show Gods glory. There is one image he uses of the Whirlpool Galaxy that is almost overwhelming. The center of this galaxy is a black hole. The Hubble space telescope took a picture of the center of the black hole and in that picture there's a image of the cross. In our bodies there is a protien molecule called Lamilin. This molecule keeps us together. All of our flesh, muscles, internal organs, brain, etc… are held together by this protien. Here's the kicker, the shape of this molecule that holds us together is also in the shape of the cross. Gods glory is all over and if we still choose to ignore the obvious then we choose to condem ourselves. As to the idea of God being male or female I think that this thinking is way too small. The Bible tells us that God has both traits and is genderless. The reason why He is considered a He is based on the authority He holds not the gender that God might be. The head of the house, the head of the church, the man who gave his life for us, all of these are male. I didn't make this up. This might sound rude but I want it to be more of a statement not a slam. God placed things in this order and if someone has a problem with this then they need to tell God that He should have done it differently. I'm curious to see how that works out for whoever tries it.

My grandmother said if you look hard enough you’ll find evidence for anything. People who look for jesus in everything will find jesus in everything. People who look for disasters will find disasters. The cross is a very stable shape. The x is just another cross which is a very stable shape. I see crosses all over the place but does that justify jesus who wasn’t the only person to be crux? And why the cross only? Is this the only man made thing we use to recognize god? The belief is that jesus is jehovah in flesh but subconsciously* people have thrown away the OT and most of the NT and focus only on the fact the god died on the a tree. I can stir my coffee and find a cross there. Or even a smiley face. The point I’m trying to make is when you believe something deeply enough, anything will convince you its a message from you god.

I second that Renita. It's kind of scary if you think about it…Whatever you come to accept as the 'truth' becomes your reality regardless of the fact that it could be flawed or absolutely fallacious. This applies to every religion too…
