Does the WMSCOG have a new “end of world” prediction going on? My friend just went on a rant with me about how the end is coming very very soon. I also noticed 144000 saying something in the “Ron” post about the end coming soon, “again”!

SimonParticipantThat’s your hatred not your mind

Sarah2013ParticipantOk. You assume I am hateful so we leave it at that. Thanks mate.

Let me ask you, isn't there some truth in what the devil says? When he tempted Jesus in the desert, did he quote scripture accurately? Yet we wouldn't actually want to accept anything from the devil would we? Even his so-called truths have a motive. One of letting our guard down.
Though your arguments are logically correct, I wouldn't take anything from them. It is not that everything they say is automatically false, but what is true, I have already got elsewhere.
Note what I said. I wouldn't take anything from them. Not because everything is false but because that source has no credibilty. I wouldn't know what is false or true by merely depending on their inputs. I must look elsewhere.
I believe your view is not fundamentally different than mine in this regard.

SimonParticipantNo Sarah that is a strawman I believe you hate the system of wmscog and it is causing doublethink
Emil I would agree going by them alone would not allow us to determine truth but I believe it is 100% incorrect to deny that something true is true even when a liar says it Or to even acknowledge a liar is being truthful

I'm offended. I'm done with this site. I'll be back who knows when.. I don't see how someone could be so prejudice! Your distaste is poorly guided.

SimonParticipantThere is zero prejudice

All-or-nothing alert ^

SimonParticipantIf you even read the thread you’d know the fallacy was Sarahs
June 3, 2013 at 8:54 PM #62416
gennyParticipantI understand what you are saying Simon (a purely logical standpoint), but I also understand the other view (like Sarah's).
Here's an analogy:
I know of a poor community (true story), in a culture that liked to cook with paprika, but paprika was not always available or affordable. Unscrupulous people would make powder from red bricks and sell it to the people calling it paprika. Let's say you had a jar of this brick powder mixed with some real paprika to give it a bit of the scent and taste of real paprika. What do you do once you discover it's not pure paprika?
Choices:
1. Keep it and use it anyway because it does have some real paprika in it after all.
2. Throw away the whole bottle because it's tainted and go look for the pure stuff.
3. Use your magnifying glass to divide it so you can throw away the brick powder and keep the real paprika.
Sure it's got some real stuff in it, but that doesn't make it worth the keeping? You can go find the real stuff somewhere else without it being tainted by the fake. The person who sold you the brick/paprika mix didn't make the real part themselves. Avoid them and go to a reputable source for the real stuff. Techincally there is true paprika there, but that's not where you want to get it.
Likewise, I think, with the wmscog. There is some truth in there, but it's been tainted by being mixed up with the false. Anything that's truth did not originate from them and is available elsewhere (from other churches). Don't try to get your truth from the wmscog by dividing their mix of truth and falsehood. Just throw out that awful mix and go get the truth from a better source. Technically there is a little truth there, but that's not where you want to get it.
June 3, 2013 at 9:02 PM #62417
SimonParticipantBut NOONE is saying or even implying to get truth from them

But someone reading might be thinking it. Such as, if there is some truth in them, keep the true and throw out the false. Better to just start fresh.
June 3, 2013 at 9:10 PM #62419
SimonParticipantI don’t agree I think it’s best to study your way out than just dump
June 3, 2013 at 9:13 PM #62420
SimonParticipantI completely lost faith when I tried it that way but then I studied topics related to them saw how it led me and continue to do so
June 3, 2013 at 11:11 PM #62421
gennyParticipantMaybe it depends on a person's faith background.
June 3, 2013 at 11:28 PM #62422
DisturbedParticipantIn my case I know there is truth mixed in with the false but I’m at a loss to know where to go to find the truth. At this point I don’t think any church has the truth. I’m not ready at this time, but when the time arrives I’ll just study the Bible & books with people’s interpretation to locate the real truth, if that’s possible. WMSCOG ruined my faith in “churches” and “organized religion”. I was already having negative feelings about mega churches and the like but this group finished me off. I will just do my best to worship and please God.
June 4, 2013 at 5:17 AM #62423
emilParticipantI like the analogy that Genny provided. Very apt.
I also get what Simon is saying so I guess we are all basically almost on the same page. Simon is talking about independent corroboration I believe.
One point I would like to highlight here. It is about the body and blood of Jesus being transubstantiated from bread and wine. Because the wmscog teaches this (not their original teaching though) would you eat their bread and wine and consider it the body and blood when you know they are a fasle church? Would it be Jesus' body and blood anytime you eat bread and drink wine?
June 4, 2013 at 7:05 AM #62424
Sarah2013Participant@ Emil, I will answer your question this way: No. I will not eat it if I know they are a false church because my belief will be that it will have no effect if the source is false. Remember what happened to those people in the bible who tried to cast out demon from someone the way Paul and I believe Silas did (in other words tried to mimic them) and the demon(s) said, “Jesus I know, Paul I know but who are you?” I will find the scripture.
June 4, 2013 at 7:44 AM #62425
SimonParticipantI wouldn’t want anyone to take doctrine because they claim it none here (save 1004 and 144000 right now) would
Saying they are right about something say the Sabbath God commander in Exodus 20 is Saturday not Sunday. It in no way validates them. In fact it invalidates them on a grand level
