My 1st question about the bible, who is God?

justasitisParticipantI don't really see how this is a question about the Bible and would suggest that maybe your question might be "What is God?" simply because "Who" implies some kind of individual, maybe even a person-type entity. I might/could begin to answer you question, but anything I could come up with would be a severe limitation. Even saying that God is everything, when we as human beings can never have any understanding of what everything may be. Even our understanding of everything that is and occurs within our supposed 'known' universe can only be a tiny fraction of 'everything'.
Why not just ask God – and keep your ears, eyes, heart open.

justasitisParticipantJust another thought – maybe there are other sources of truth than the Bible.

Love'n HoneyParticipantI believe the bible is all I need to recognize God. But I have been told that the One I recognize as God is not God. If Ahnsahnghong & Mother aren't God, who is? Who should I pray to? Who is the One who will let me into Heaven? Who created me?

gennyParticipantHe is eternal, immortal, immutable, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent. He is both loving and just. He is the creator of heaven and earth. He is personally involved with His creation, and we can have a personal relationship with Him. He created you and wishes you to live eternally with Him in heaven, but He will not force you to accept Him.

Love'n HoneyParticipantI have heard that God in genderless. Why is God referred to as "He" or "Father" if He is genderless?

That's the way the Bible refers to Him, and anyway it's nicer and more personal that 'It.' Besides that some languages don't even have a neutral term like 'it'–everything is either a he or she, even a rock or door–including Hebrew.

Love'n HoneyParticipantSo, when the Hebrews referred to God, they either said Elohim or Eloah? Which brings up another question. Why Elohim? As far as I understand, it means Gods. I remember reading in another post that there was no Trinity until Jesus came. If that is an arguement made, then Elohim in the OT can't mean the Trinity. What do Jews or Hebrews say about the meaning of Elohim vs Eloah?
