Many of the members here will take what’s discussed here back to the WMS. This is where one or more people will try to put a spin on whatever’s being discussed. My loved one used to do this all the time. It’s a child like dependency because the member has a hard time thinking for themselves. When the study they are regurgitating turns south on them a thought stopping excuse is made. After the discussion is at a stand still the member either calls for help or goes to the cult. This is called fleeing to Zion. At this point they are usually love bombed again and given more distractions to throw into the discussion or told to avoid the person altogether. When we are debating a WMS member we are probably confronting two or more people at the same time. Check out some of the discussions on this forum and you’ll see what I mean.
Lies, lies and more lies, I can't take this any more enough is enough. I am leaving you cause you are being kept in the dark, come to light and open your eyes. I know you and I know if you start asking questions you will be ignored. So start asking questions so you can be woken up from your nightmare and begin to live.

Well, now the food and water is expired just like that anouncement. Oh, was that another test of faith?
I remember something like that but did not see it as a definitive statement or a fully literal one.
BTW canned food and water lasts longer than that

this debate was hot! got so much information from this one, now to test my friends knowledge.
I think some of what I said here was valid sometimes it seems we attack everything without thinking on if it’s actually a contradiction or whatever. it’s part of why it took me so long to get out
yes Simon I understand you, my friend is the same way, even if something I tell him makes sense he turns it around by saying whoever brings back the passover is 2 Coming Christ, because only God can do that. So even if I have a valid point, instead of looking into it, he blocks it out and his mind is already standing firm in what he believes in. I want to help him but sometimes it's difficult, notice the word DIFFi-CULT. I'm hoping that if after Jan 1 2013 if he does not see truth, then i will have to wait till April, but by then in 4 months he's going to get even more mind munipulated.
What do you think would be the best approach for someone that can not think outside the box, how with your experience would you be able to help this person. If you think back what could be something that I can tell you that will break the spell.
When I told a member of wmscog to "think outside the box" their reply was, "yes, that's what our church does." My reply back was, no, your church IS the box.
Think outside the box for them. For the most part, people don’t know how to do something unless its shown to them. And if the members are truly brainwashed then they have forgotten how.
Btw, my good friend said she hasn’t been to zion in a long time. When I asked her why she gave me a personal answer. It didn’t involve the teachings at all. I don’t care why she doesn’t go just as long as she doesn’t return. =)
