 We had a guest speaker in my church this Saturday. He spoke about one of the minor prophets, Hosea. Now, while my loved one was in the WMSCOG I prayed a hedge of thorns around her which is one of the main reasons why she was able to come out of this cult and back to her family. (Read Hosea if you are interested in this prayer for your loved one.)

As the guest speaker spoke he portrayed the life of Hosea as if he were Hosea. It was with the modern day equivalent of possible conversations with God and the common attitude of people. Hosea is having a conversation with God:

God: Hosea, are you willing to be a word picture of my will?

Hosea: God, I am a willing servant. I have spent a great deal of my time and effort bringing your message to the people.

God: I want you to get married.

Hosea: Cool! I know just the girl! She has been to all of my sermons, has supported the ministry, and even volunteered and handed out flyers to events that I have been involved in. She is great!

God: I agree, she is a really great gal but she is not the one that I have chosen for you.

Hosea: Oh, well you always know what’s best and your ways have always been better than my ways so I’ll bet that whoever you have in mind is awesome.

God: I want you to marry a local hooker. Her name is Gomer.

Hosea: Gomer the hooker? God, can’t you do better than Gomer the hooker?

God: I am going to use your life as a representation of my love for Israel.

Hosea: I don’t know how this is going to work out. I’m a prophet and she’s a prostitute. How is this supposed to show people your love for Israel? What is the propheting community going to say? I don’t understand.

God: Just trust me.

 

Later on in the story we find God and Hosea conversating again:

God: So Hosea, I know you had your doubts about Gomer but do you love her?

Hosea: Yes God, I do love her. She has been trying so hard to be the wife of a prophet however, the people around the church and the town just wont seem to let her live down her past. I can tell that this is tearing at her. Nothing that she does seems to be good enough for these people. They just keep reminding her of her past. I do love her God but even with my encouragement she just seems to be down.

God: But you do love her?

Hosea: Yes.

 

Further along Gomer fails in their relationship. She takes on many lovers who in turn shower her with gifts and false love. After some time she is abandoned by all of her lovers, the gifts are squandered or lost, and she winded up becoming a slave. The town folks came and told Hosea that his wife was a slave and that she was due to be sold at the auction in the town square. Hosea asked God what he should do. God said, “Do you love her?” His reply was, “Yes.” “Then go and get her.” God replied. Hosea got dressed, put on his prophets robe and went down to the town square. The people expected Hosea to condemn and judge his former wife but instead he bid on her and purchased her. He took her down from the auction block and covered her with his prophets robe. (Very likely she was naked in front of everyone at the auction.) She said that she was unworthy of being his wife after everything that she had done and that she should be his servant. Hosea did not make her his servant but instead reinstated her as his wife.

 

Many members of the WMSCOG were once believers of the one true God and His son Jesus. They have been seduced away and are doing terrible things against the one true God. What’s worse is that this group is placing more guilt in them by making them believe that they tried to kill God. Guilt, deception, more guilt followed by the division from loved ones and families. A doctrine of separation and division, us against them mantra.

 

God wants you back and not as a lower than before servant/slave. He loves you and wants to reinstate you as a child of God. Come back to the real, honest, non-guilt inspiring lover of your soul.

 

FYI: It looks like there is a message in Hosea for this false god called mother. “Therfore I will take away my grain when it ripens, and my new wine when it is ready. I will take back my wool and my linen, intended to cover her naked body. So now I will expose her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers; no one will take her out of my hands. I will stop all her celebrations: her yearly festivals, her New Moons, her Sabbath days – all her appointed festivals. I will ruin her vines and fig trees, which she said were pay from her lovers; I will make them a thicket, and wild animals will devour them. I will punish her for the days she burned incense to the Baals; (every Tuesday) she decked herself with rings and jewelery, and went after her lovers, but me she forgot,” declares the Lord

 

This persecution will be real and justified by the Lord. Don’t be there when it really comes down. The WMSCOG has been losing members this year. People are waking up to the falsehoods of the WMSCOG. It’s time to get out and get back to God.
