There has been a lot of discussion on here about the rumor that Zhang Gil Jha has passed away, but no one seems to know the answer. It's very difficult to find the truth when the person in question is in a foreign country and we don't know the language. However, there is a guy I met who could probably find this out for us. I met Professor Tark in 2010 when he gave a talk at the ICSA convention, and he is a cult specialist very familiar with the wms. He may have some insights. Since he gave a lecture about the wms at this convention, people associated with ICSA might know how to contact him. If anyone out there has his contact information, I think this is the best option for putting rumors to rest.

I imagine that there are 2 types of people tuning in to the news of wether or not "mother" is living or not…. those who know the doctrine was a lie, and those who are looking to see if the doctrine was a lie or not. Death of "mother" would be a confirmation to many that it would be time to move on, …… a freedom of sorts. But there are many who joined just in time for a "new explanation" of the reason that "mother" must die.. to "fulfill prophecy".. what a shame that they must go through yet another round of such chicanery. There is no confirmation of her death according to several I have discussed this with. No news about her at all, actually. Professor Tark also had no information about her death. Momma lives on, for awhile longer, anyway.
This is the problem. There's no information one way or the other about Zahng/Chang/Chung or whatever other name she's gone by over the years. If I was running the WMSCOG, and this rumor was being purposed, providing that Zahng was still alive, I would want to squash this idea of her being dead right away. The fact that they are being so tight lipped about this leads me in the opposite direction. The longer time goes on the more I'm willing to believe that she is truly dead and the WMSCOG is covering it up and trying to creat a biblical reason for her passing. Whatever is going on it's deceptive!
Folks, don't get hung up on this thing… her being dead or not. Either way there's no prophecy in the Bible about a korean woman. Dead OR alive. There are no prophecies about her dying or living, the WMS can make up ANYTHING at this point as they have until now. They don't have to use the Bible to do so. And wms members tend to forget that. I would urge any of them who are reading this to go and see what other cults do and how similar their behaviour is to this particular group.
It's all about the money and the economic and political power that comes from creating a strong religious cult. Mother's death may or may not impact WMSCOG in a negative fashion depending on the success of Choo Choo Kim and Long Dong Lee (who really control this cult, not Zhang) in recreating the theology and moving forward. I recently came across an excellent analysis of the impact of Sun Myung Moon's death on the Unification Church cult. His successors (some family, some Japanese and Korean top officials) have struggled to hold things together and this struggle continues. I would bet, however, that the immediate impact of Zhang's death will have little effect. What remains to play out is how Choo Choo Kim and Long Dong Lee divide up all the spoils amongst THEIR families ….. that may have a larger impact than Zhang's death ….

As of January 1,2015 I can confirm she is alive. She could have died after that but as of that date she is alive. When I was in the wms they showed us a news years video with her in it. And she gave a new years message. She looked sickly and thin and they told us it was because she was fasting for us.
@free , yup same video shown at local WMS, Only we were told her physical health failing is for the sins the members are committing(not bearing fruit, sinful nature).
They are sending members who are strong in faith over to Korea to meet her , this was announced very recently.

Well, my nephew just dropped a bomb and is leaving for Korea tomorrow, so I would assume she’s still alive if they’re still doing trips.
