    CNN ran a movie last night on a cult. It is really an interesting film because the film maker recorded the members and leader for 20+ years. There are about 10 ex-members that share their stories. What seemed like a great thing in the beginning turns into a nightmare. The interesting thread throughout the film is no matter what the leader did, people kept following him. So many similarities to WMS. You can search for it to record it on CNN because I'm sure it will air again, or you can follow this link and pay $3.99 to watch it. (Well worth the 4 bucks!)

    There are REALLY good people in wms. It’s just I’m scared because they’re “following”… Also all their time they’re supposed to be putting towards the world is going to wms…

    SERIOUSLY it’s “”LIKE”” they think “even if God told you to jump off a cliff you should do it…” NO PEOPLE NO! GOD DOESN’T SAY STUFF LIKE THAT!!!!! I KNOW they think like that…i heard many things said… But it’s “”like!!!” They want you to get to THAT “”LEVEL”” of faith.

    I could quote verbatim stuff i heard…

    Trust me, I’m telling the truth on my experience… And what i heard…

    I’m careful for how i word it just in case…

    So yeah, forgive me if I’m a little frantic or …worried in my writing, but i fear for my friends… Like you said “it starts off looking good, looks good for a long time, then….”…

    SATAN TRIED TO GET SOMEONE (Jesus) TO THROW HIMSELF OFF SOMETHING HIGH (like a mountain). SATAN SAYS STUFF LIKE THAT. JESUS WOULD NEVER SAY THAT!!!! They have to distinguish, but they can’t even distinguish that. I know because i heard.. you can feel my fear… Especially… People (not God) but people do things as a last resort if they feel they lost everything…

    I watched this last night too.  Very well done.   Although WMS is different than this one in some ways, the similarities overpower the differences.  All cults seem to follow a pattern.  The WMS definitely follows the same one as all other high control groups.

    I will respond in a second post as this question does not pertain to the subject.

    I’ve never gotten to sit down and have a conversation about my experience of being deceived by wms…(that’s probably why i say so much on this site). I’ve told people i got tricked by a cult, but I’ve never been able to have a conversation about it yet…bc i haven’t opened up that much. I mean my actual friends know, i mean i haven’t been able to open up to family about it. I guess I’m afraid of something Idk what. Like it’s an undesirable conversation. I told my family i was in a cult accidentally but i couldn’t open up to really talk about it… Like i just couldn’t get myself to.

    *i think Gil believes it all.

    *I think Joo thinks there’s more

    *And i think Sahng tricked them both lolol

    Sahng was smart…he was also very depressed maybe…

    Yes Sahng was very determined…i think he was very determined to trick Joo, hence the walking long distances etc. Lol

    Gil reacted very excitedly to the whole thing (i read) which was a sign that she DIDN’T “know” before then…(referring to what her ex husband described).

    This is an assumption based on her response.

    The previous comment is guessing and speculation. I don’t really know. I just think Sahng knew he was Lucifer.

    Realizing i had fallen for lies and believed lies, (not just any lie, but fundamental lies) i realized how “easy” it is to fall for something that sounds good. Especially if the person saying it seems nice!!!

    ~~~~
    I realized bc of time towards only the fake relationships at wms (bc relationships that are controlled are not real though the people themselves are awesome) – i realized it had caused a result of great loneliness, bc at the years of life where i should have developed friendships, i spent all the time trying to please “god” who was only pleased if all my time went to “doing something for God” and i had no time left over for life etc.
    ~~~~~

    I realized the world is a very cold place, and telling people “someone is God” but that god will let you go to hell and disappear if you fall away (or just stay in hell Idk) (and also if you just cannot see for yourself that it is necessary to worship at 8pm Tuesday, 9am Saturday, 3pm Saturday, 8pm Saturday (oh that one was added, don’t add), 5am for like 30+ days out of the year (also added, wait why is this new covenant different and harder????), Too long to list. Forget the “you must keep them” if you cannot visually see it, then you’ve got a zero shot at Heaven. Oh but you think you see everything…? …ok… What if there was something in Scripture that YOU didn’t notice to do. And if you didn’t notice everything there was to do, then you were going to go to hell and disappear…? (Or just stay in hell). What if there was regulation to do in Scripture that YOU NEVER NOTICED? Well because you didn’t notice it, and didn’t believe it, and therefore didn’t do it, then you are supposed to go to hell /disappear (if we follow that logic). (I’m not saying anyone will go to hell).

    But i am saying THERE ARE REGULATIONS in the Scripture that you didn’t notice wms. Many. Many. Multiple. Many.

    @anon7
    – Could you do me a favor and please try to stay on subject with the title of the forum? I realize you have a lot to say but the above posting has nothing to do with the documentary "Holy Hell." If you have watched the film and want to comment about your experience in WMS as compared to the members in the documentary cult, then you should post it here.

    If you want to talk about your experience as you did above, please post a new conversation or find one where ex-members have posted about their experiences (there are many) and post there. It will bump the conversation back up to the top where others can comment.

    That way when visitors come to the forum, they can find a subject that interest them and read and discuss. If your experience is buried in this post, no one will see it.

    Thanks much!

    In many cults, sexual abuses abound, as in the Buhdafield, the group that is the focus of the documentary, "Holy Hell."  Although I know of no specific abuses in the WMS, I do know that manipulations occur in the WMS that are related to sexual attractions of some ranking members to females in the WMS.  I know of one in particular where a ranking member of the WMS had another member transferred to a different state/different WMS church due to a girl.  This ranking member was very interested in this girl, and she was interested in another guy, so he had her love interest transferred.  This is not unlike what Michel, the leader of the Budhafield, did when he was interested in a young man he later alledgedly raped repeatedly.  Michel alledgedly discouraged five different girls from having any kind of relationship with the young man he later victimized.

    It is not really too far stretch to believe that there could be sexual abuse in the WMS if misuse of power goes unchecked or brought to light.  I know of people who said they would do "ANYTHING" their leaders said would promote their spiritual growth in the WMS, and they meant it.  It appears that misuse of power is already rampant in this group.
