Again, I am a new contributor however, as a parent who is totally disconnected from their children…but I would like others to know that disconnection is only one part of what makes a group destructive. In other words…we can't say…."if our children are not disconnected, if our loved one HAS communication with those outside of the group THEN….the group is acting within the parameters of normalcy and therefore …not destructive. That is a fallacy. Reality testing is important for everyone to acknowledge and use… in all walks of life, in groups and outside of groups. The following link would be helpful for parents, families, those considering taking part in any group (even a book group!). By the way…. while it is from a cult information center…. this is not a "cult" issue…this is an issue…period, when someone doesn't test the infomation that is coming at them from any source!
