Reading a post by Cephas’ Brother, I was wondering what people’s thoughts are on and end result with this organization? They seem to already have in motion a plan to sweep under the carpet the “end of the world” situation. So what do you guys think many of the members will do with the turn of the new year? It just doesn’t seem like a big dent will be put into this organization anytime soon. Smh

KFParticipantwell if the end is not Jan 1 2013, then like Renita pointed out it would have to be before the next passover around April, because some members were told end of the world would be 2012(seems like this was more of the older members from when they started out here about 15 yrs ago) also Simon pointed out in one of topics, that mother told the overseers that father would come this year and other members were told last passover, followed by an end of preaching, so a P/O for 2013 should not be happening.
how do you know they seem to have a plan in motion, what have you heared?& after all of this, how would they convince the members, I mean come on now when none of the 3 stated above occur, will the members not notice it was false. However in my opinion I'm guessing they won't care much if the old batch leaves, they will have a fresh new batch, and will use the verse in the bible that says in the last days many will fall, and so to the new batch it will make sense…prophecy fullfilled!
and round and round, here we go again! until the next recycle……."my thoughts" (:

Cephas' BrotherParticipantThanks for putting up a seperate post for this topic prtyeyes. I can say personally that my girl played dumb when I asked her about the end of the world predictions from the article on this site. It seems like some members are let in on certain things, and some aren't. I saw before somewhere that the COG used to teach a similar doctrine to the one that Mormons used to teach regarding people of color getting into heaven, and in some sick way it kinda makes me angry that they might restrict their wacked out teachings to members based on race. As if they should be taught at all.
As far as what happens for 2013, I wish I knew. Some people on this board have said they told members it's the end of preaching, not the end of the world. But that really doesn't add up for me, because my girlfriend is out trying to recruit downtown as I type this. Running herself ragged lately for these people. But….if it's the end of preaching…that's where the creepy kool-aid thoughts start to seep into my mind. Maybe it's one last push. And then…What? Something's gotta give. I hope we can get someone to shed some light on this.

prtyeyesParticipantYou’re welcome Cephas’ Brother! ๐ my friend who has been apart of this organization for about 6-7 years now seems to be playing dumb to all this as well. He did say it was the end of preaching, but a few months ago he went into this whole thing with me about fire and brimstone and that it would be happening soon and he wanted to save my soul. Now he seems to act like that conversation never happened. I feel like it could be a drink the kool-aid type of situation creeping up, it makes me nervous!
November 13, 2012 at 7:27 PM #48629
Cephas' BrotherParticipantI know, right. I really really don't wanna believe they're capable of something like that. Plus their "Zions" are spread across the globe, so a mass type thing is probably less likely. Have you shown him this site prty? How'd he take it? Were you "in the truth"? What opened your prtyeyes?

EmilyParticipantI had started reading a book titled "When Prophecy Fails" a while back. Though I didn't have a chance to finish reading the book, it was interesting because it documents other failed phophecies from the past and subsequent followers' reactions. From what I read, some members leave the group, while others' faith becomes stronger after they are told that it was just a test to see how many would "fall away" and how many would remain standing. My family member was also very panic stricken about the end being "near" and at the end of 2012 but that was over a year ago. I wonder if and how my family member has been convinced that it may not happen…

prtyeyesParticipantWhen I showed him this site he got pissed off! He said I shouldn’t believe what this site post, because it is the word of man and that the people who come to this site are bitter because they’ve been kicked out of the “church”. I explained that the people here are simply telling their stories and stating facts about their experience. He still disagrees and said,”I need to study more”. I attended one Sat. service came home and really did some research and came upon this site. I never went back! As soon as I heard about worshiping a dead Korean man and a mother god, I was good! My friend is really good people’s and I so can’t stand him being caught up. He’s had a rough up bringing and came upon this group in my opinion at the right time for “them” because he was searching for a spiritual fit.

Love'n HoneyParticipantLet it be known I was never kicked out. I begged to stay and people are still trying to convince me to return. I left on my own. But it is very true.. the truth is hard to swallow.
November 13, 2012 at 8:25 PM #48633
Love'n HoneyParticipantI was* begged.. typo. =) I was almost kicked out though. In SD zion my group had an intervention with me. One sister said I told her something that hurt her feelings and I didn’t even apologize. I told her that I meant to hurt her feelings so why would I apologize? Lol, I was a handful.
November 13, 2012 at 8:36 PM #48634
Cephas' BrotherParticipantYou sound like you've got a strong mind and a strong will Renita. I'll never tire of hearing how people started thinking for themselves and saw how this group was manipulating them. There is hope! Prty, did you just give him the web address, and have him look it up? I tried that, and she kinda blew it off. I think I might have to get….creative ๐
November 13, 2012 at 8:46 PM #48635
Love'n HoneyParticipantIt was very difficult for them to get me to believe. But once I did it was just as difficult to get to un-believe.
November 13, 2012 at 9:05 PM #48636
Cephas' BrotherParticipantOk, so tell me then, what was it that finally made you really believe in the COG teachings?. My girl told me "Daniel's prophecy" was what hooked her.
November 13, 2012 at 9:15 PM #48637
Love'n HoneyParticipantYep, daniels prophecy. First they studied about mother which I just found interesting. I never believed in the bible because no one explained how any of these prophecies came true in my time. Whenever I doubted about ahnsahnghong and mother, I just reverted to daniels prophecy. If that’s fact then f&m must be factual too.
November 13, 2012 at 9:17 PM #48638
Cephas' BrotherParticipantThanks, It seems like that one's a biggie for them. Perhaps some real exegesis on the book of Daniel would benefit my lady.

Daniel was never a prophet for Israel.
Exactly, the story relates that he was a seer in the Babylonian court, no?
November 13, 2012 at 9:19 PM #48640
prtyeyesParticipantI gave him the web address and actually posted long summaries of some of the key verses that contradict their doctrine, from the encounteringthecultofahnsahnghong website. He read through it and was livid! He said dont ever send him stuff like that in an email, he called me a snake( he later apologized) but anything even remotely trying to show him contradictions of any kind he thinks is the work of the devil. He says he knows I have a good heart and thinks my heart is too big and am being mislead by what “man” has written. He says, he only follows the bible and that’s all his church does too. He feels they do nothing but help people so he doesn’t see how this “church” is bad. And he always says if you don’t want to study with us that’s fine, but you’ll never know the truth. Why would I want to study something I already know isn’t true?! Cephas’ Brother you will definitely need to be creative with your approach, I’m now trying to take baby steps and just talk about regular things and maybe start to ease back in to the contradictions somehow. Until then all I can do is pray for all of those stuck in this group.
November 13, 2012 at 9:31 PM #48641
Love'n HoneyParticipantBut he was forced to be in the courts and he prayed to god in the east and ate vegetables.

Hey, Renita, I'm curious. When you studied Daniel's prophecy, how much of it did you go and verify on your own? How many members do you think fact-check these things themselves? (I ask because when I checked it myself, there were a few key pieces that didn't check out as correct the way the wmscog teaches it, and I wonder if the members know this and don't care, or if they just don't know, or maybe they don't care to know.)
November 14, 2012 at 10:06 AM #48643
Cephas' BrotherParticipantGenny, I'm pretty sure my lady did zero fact checking on any of the things the COG taught her. I can remember the first time I brought up some of the discrepencies with her, I asked something to the effect of "didn't you check when you weren't sure of things?" To which she replied "If I believe it, why would I question it?" My mind was blown hearing that. Maybe it's just the type of person I am, but I have to know how everything works, how it all went down, all the bits and pieces, nuts and bolts of a thing. And that's doubly true when learning about something as important as God.
You wondered if they don't know, don't care to know, or know and don't care. In my case I think deep down she knows she's being lied to. She's so smart, she has to know. I think she stays because her family is in and she doesn't want them to look down upon her for standing up against this crap. Or maybe she's completely hoodwinked, I don't know. She's so secretive about it(probably because she knows I think it's bull) that I can't really grasp what she believes.I just hope I can wake her up.Unfortunately the way they brainwash their followers into thinking that anything outside what they've been taught is satan's deception, I don't know if I'll be able to do it with "simple" facts.
November 14, 2012 at 4:27 PM #48644
Love'n HoneyParticipantI didn’t look things up right away. I did notice that other churches taught Daniels prophecy only differently.i asked about this and they argued with sabbath and PO. They had those for sure truths so what they say can’t be trusted because they don’t have sabbath or PO
November 14, 2012 at 8:20 PM #48645
Cephas' BrotherParticipantHal, how might I ask did you beat their teachings? If they keep Pesach and the sabbath, what's there for you to argue with them about? Do they keep them incorrectly? Passover and Sabbath, I thought, were perhaps their most biblically sound teachings. Far less "out there" than the angels kicked out of heaven, or new jerusalem as a person heresies.
And Renita, what made you start looking things up?
