I thought this group was the WMSCOG. One of the key components of a cult is that it uses other names or fronts if you will. Why the need for deception? Already you have a misinterpretation of Elohim and then you call it an academy like it’s a separate entity. The Cult Alarm is going off again.

Btw quote from Justin Martyr
The custom of circumcising the flesh, handed down from Abraham, was given to you as a distinguishing mark, to set you off from other nations and from us Christians. The purpose of this was that you and only you might suffer the afflictions that are now justly yours; that only your land be desolated, and you cities ruined by fire, that the fruits of you land be eaten by strangers before your very eyes; that not one of you be permitted to enter your city of Jerusalem. Your circumcision of the flesh is the only mark by which you can certainly be distinguished from other men…as I stated before it was by reason of your sins and the sins of your fathers that, among other precepts, God imposed upon you the observence of the sabbath as a mark.
what's wrong with this statement? are you claiming it is false?

Lets get back to the topic of Elohim Academy. Where does a person pay their tuition or even apply for acceptance into this academy? It's a made up thing as a front for the WMSCOG. Amway has done the same thing. No one wants to really say they are selling stuff for Amway so they call themselves by different names. (Just so you know, Amway is considered a cult as well.) Your groups deception is no different. Just another con job.
You are using Academy as a literalistic formal accredited school sense. It is meant as a way to internally describe a part of the Church. Most employers do stuff like this too their training department will have a cheesey educationy name like Safeway used to have checker college for the checkers.
How the world can a fully open capitalistic venture be a cult?

When I asked my sister what her new church was, she also answered "Church of God." I agree that is deceptive because there are so many churches with that in their name ("Church of God") and "World Mission Society Church of God" is SO different from the others in their fundamental beliefs. I had to take the clues from our conversations and go find out myself which church it really was.
(That's why it's my preference to not refer to them as merely "Church of God" or COG. I think "World Mission Society" or WMS or WMSCOG is a clearer abbreviation.)
Yes Genny when I was recruited they said the same thing to me like for 3 weeks. They said they were called "Church of God". They would always refer to themselves as such. Then they told me they were called Church of God World Mission Society. Then after that they told me they were called World Mission Society Church of God.

JoshuaParticipantShimon, what’s a cult to you? You might want to read Lifton and Hassan’s research and you’ll be able to answer your own question that you presented here.

SimonParticipantOkay I will.look when I am on an actual computer

WMS brotherParticipantNo, actually, we really DO have an Elohim Academy. Its a whole seperate building, pretty big and lots of Students who are actually Students of the Academy.
June 3, 2012 at 12:08 AM #45547
JoshuaParticipantAre you talking about the academy in Korea? If not, what’s the address of this pretty big place with lots of students?
June 3, 2012 at 4:36 AM #45548
WMS brotherParticipantIts in Korea, I know quite a few brothers that have been there.
June 5, 2012 at 4:47 AM #45549
JoshuaParticipantThere’s a lot of psychology taught there. Have you ever been invited to study at this school? Have you ever applied to go to this school. How do you get accepted to study there? The people that you say you know who went there, are they Koreans or were they Americans from here who studied there and came back? Or were they Koreans that became Americans one way or another?

JoshuaParticipantThis topic might interest some of you. I have heard a rumor that this name has changed from Elohim Academy to something else. Can't remember what.
September 3, 2014 at 9:35 PM #45551
setufreeParticipantIts now called Zion University.
They have a “private app” where u can logon and set study dates, get approval from leaders to teach studies and some members have to be there as early as 6-7am

JoshuaParticipantJust another way to trick people into eating the po-op. They spend an unreal amount of time teaching people how to circumvent peoples thought processes. Phsycology and manipulation are what get people trapped in this group. I wish it was the truth of Gods Word but it obviously is not.

SimonParticipantI believe they used both of those named when I was a member for slightly different things
