In our zion, I was told that Lazarus went to Hell. I really have no questioned about it that time but I would like to do so now. Anyone willing to explain this one to me?

Sarah2013ParticipantI think it was just an analogy. I could be wrong.

ElievalkyrieParticipantI remember the wmscog sister that lectured me specifically told me that Lazarus went to Hell. She even said in a form of a question: "Don't you know that Lazarus went to Hell?" And I was like, "Oh, okay." I never really thought about it since I didn't know the story of Lazarus in the first place. lol.
February 16, 2013 at 5:03 PM #53966
SimonParticipantwhat that makes zero sense
February 17, 2013 at 5:37 AM #53967
ElievalkyrieParticipantYou said it Simon. It doesn't make sense to me then and it doesn't make sense to me now. So I am asking here if others might know about it or may have received similar teaching.
February 17, 2013 at 5:45 AM #53968
king34Participantwhy would lazarus go to hell if he was the poor guy right? plus no one goes to heaven or heall until judgement day so the man is just sleeping
February 17, 2013 at 5:46 AM #53969
Sarah2013ParticipantAre you speaking of the Lazarus who was said to be Jesus’ friend in the bible? That is the rich man? If he, I can assure you he didn’t go to hell.
February 17, 2013 at 5:49 AM #53970
ElievalkyrieParticipantI really don't know King, I was told of that in our zion but never had a chance to seek explanations or clarifications for it. I think they used Romans 7:24 as a supporting verse for it. But I am not claiming this with certainty.
February 17, 2013 at 6:07 AM #53971
Sarah2013ParticipantKing and Elie, He was actually rich and well known among the priest in his time. The bible says he was a dear friend of Jesus. He met Jesus through his sister Martha. When news was brought to Jesus that his friend Lazarus was ill, Jesus didn’t react right away. After two days, I believe, Jesus went to him and raised him from the dead. The reason Jesus waited and didn’t go immediately was so to bring glory to the father – God (please not ahng or mama Z). See John 11.
February 17, 2013 at 6:30 AM #53972
Sarah2013ParticipantThere are two unrelated Lazarus story: one is the story Jesus told about The rich man and Lazarus(luke 16: 19- 31) and the other is The Lazarus Jesus raised from the dead (John 11) who was brother to Mary and Martha. Sometimes these stories are told interchangeably. We must search the scriptures to see. Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus and stayed alive until the the death of Jesus. Jesus told that story about the poor Lazarus who longed to eat even the crumbs of what fell of the rich man’s table. I personally, though could be wrong but doubt it, don’t believe this story of the rich man and Lazarus was one that took place during the time of Jesus. I believe he was using it to make a point to his listeners.

ElievalkyrieParticipantI see. Thanks for the explanation. The way you tell it Sarah makes it seem that you have actually been there when it happened. You have a good talent for story-telling. lol. ^_^
February 17, 2013 at 10:43 AM #53974
king34Participantlol haha
February 17, 2013 at 10:49 AM #53975
Sarah2013ParticipantLol! Too funny.
February 17, 2013 at 3:21 PM #53976
SimonParticipantnot sure why Jesus would raise someone from death then cast them to hell doesn’t sound like Jesus at all.
February 17, 2013 at 3:34 PM #53977
ElievalkyrieParticipantNo, the teaching I've received was Lazarus was in Hell before Jesus raised him from the dead.
February 17, 2013 at 3:45 PM #53978
SimonParticipanto okay. well that contradicts ahnsahnghong on no-one going to hell until the resurrection.
although one can translate the word scheol as hell also and that’s where he would’ve gone.
February 17, 2013 at 3:46 PM #53979
SimonParticipantbut I don’t think wmscog uses hell that way
