My loved one has become a member of the WMSCOG last year. Since then I have been taught a few lessons and have read a few of their sermon books. What has stuck out with me is more of context over content of the teachings. There are a lot of asssumptions and presumptions going on. I distinctly remember my loved one using the words "let's assume…" in the lessons. There is a thought process being used and it goes something like this: If A=B and B=C then C=A. There is a technical term for this type of validity, but I cannot remember what it is called. For example: Some men are gamblers. Some gamblers are rich. Therefore men are rich.
There is a human inclination to reduce cognitive dissonance by rationalization.
The WMSCOG uses human experiences, world events and Bible scripture to justify their beliefs to their members and recruits. Is this why Romans 1:19-20 is a powerful element in their doctrine base?
