Deconstructing the Teachings and Rational Thought

My loved one has become a member of the WMSCOG last year. Since then I have been taught a few lessons and have read a few of their sermon books. What has stuck out with me is more of context over content of the teachings. There are a lot of asssumptions and presumptions going on. I distinctly remember my loved one using the words "let's assume…" in the lessons. There is a thought process being used and it goes something like this: If A=B and B=C then C=A. There is a technical term for this type of validity, but I cannot remember what it is called. For example: Some men are gamblers. Some gamblers are rich. Therefore men are rich.

There is a human inclination to reduce cognitive dissonance by rationalization.

The WMSCOG uses human experiences, world events and Bible scripture to justify their beliefs to their members and recruits.  Is this why Romans 1:19-20 is a powerful element in their doctrine base?

I just spent some time exploring this site a bit more.  It has been a while since I looked at all of the information under the main tabs.  The section on Non-Thought does begin to address my concerns.  The non-sequitur logical fallacies is what I was eluding to in the above posting.  Also the ad-hominem thought process of things are either all good or all bad is another thought process found in the teachings.

I think that it is easier for humans to see things as black and white, and not shades of grey.  When things are clear cut in our rationalization then our behaviors and beliefs fall into line simply, easily, without conflict.  It is those shades of grey which produce discourse in our thinking that makes us question our behavior and beliefs.  Then we begin the process of rationalization to maintain balance.  It is in these areas that the teachings of the WMSCOG hit people to the core.

I wanted to bump this so that others can have a chance to read it. Rahab is a friend of mine and I am happy to tell you that her loved one is also out of the WMSCOG. God knows what He's doing we just have to trust in Him. When He asks us to do something it is then that we need to do our part.
