Church's position on circumcision

I was recently told by someone that the parent of a newborn said that he didn't really think circumcision of their little boy was necessary because "there are no blessings for that."  I doubt this person ever even thought about this before, and it is my opiinion that the church people put this in his mind.  Possibly to get him to fight with his wife, who isn't a member and never will be.  I can't believe how they insinuate themselves between family, and into decisions that a husband and wife should make together.  Circumcision is in the Bible, is it not?  Who decides about what constitutes blessings?  I would say it is the church leadership, because they have really funny ideas about what is a blessing and what isn't, and they make these things known.  Giving more money than you can afford is definitely a blessing.  But I guess having something done for your baby's health isn't.

So does the church have a policy on circumcision?  I haven't heard of it before.

They believe Circumcision is replaced by baptism

Colossians 2:. 11In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the fleshb was put off when you were circumcised byc Christ, 12having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

That through baptism God circumcises the heart rahter than the flesh.

Is this a policy that is well known among members?  I hadn't heard anything about this before.

It's not a policy. It's up to the parents. They are just simply stating that it is no longer required.

Sad situation. As Christians we believe that circumcision is no longer required and is replaced by baptism as Simon correctly points out. However, in the case of this particular child, it appears that circumcision is called for due to a specific medical condition. It happened with a close family member of mine too. Obviously the right thing to do is to go ahead with circumcision in such a case. Are we restricted to doing only things that the bible says will bring a blessing?

Why does a wmscog member own/drive a car? Where does the bible say there is a blessing in that? Why doesn't he just go to church riding a donkey? That is as far as Jesus went with transportation. Why do their members travel by air when they go to see mama z? Where does the bible promise a blessing for air travel? Shouldn't they walk to Korea?

I wonder if watching "Family Guy" on TV provides a blessing?  The same deacon of a church who didn't think his baby should be circumcised also watches "Family Guy" a cartoon show that I find personally offensive and irreverant, and I am not a prude or anything.  What are the blessings in "Family Guy?"  Does the pastor watch it too?
