    So I just cracked open a new book, "Churches that Abuse".  I don't know what churches the author is critical of yet; I am on page 1 of the Preface and couldn't help but quote the author:

    "I can safely predict that not one of the groups discussed in these pages will agree that they deserve such mention.  They will protest that they have been unfairly portrayed, that I have listened to "a few disgruntled former members" whose words should not be trusted, and who are not representative of the membership."

    Ronald M. Enroth, 1992

    *asks if anyone has heard anything like that and asks for those that have to raise their hands*

    Try this:

    From Chapter 2:  (Community Chapel former member) "As I look back on it now, it is clear that, subtly at first, there began to be a feeling of superiority and exclusiveness among the people.  This was more evident in some than in others, but I think we all were affected by it.  There began to be a feeling that this church was unique and that while we loved other brothers in Christ, to leave Community Chapel would always be a step down spiritually".

    Same at WMSCOG. It is said directly & indirectly that “we” (members of WMSCOG) are better than other churches since the other churches worship the sun god, they don’t keep the commands of God, the don’t have mother…and so on.

    Yep. They don’t have the mother and the moonies are copycats, i heard. My, my, what a bunch of trash. What in the world was I thinking to have gotten caught up in such show of shame.

    @Disturbed
    : I told my friend that they soundslike they are judging everyone that does not believe like them. They answere with we are not the ones saying everyone is wrong. The Bible says everyone is wrong.

    Sounds a little judgemental to me. I even showed him the verse where Jesus says do not judge others, Luke 6:41Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye but do not notice or consider the beam [of timber] that is in your own eye?

    It is a good book to help out members, imo, because the churches used as examples are old and outdated.  The techniques however, those remain consistent!

    The first to post where the University Bible Fellowship is from and how their homeland is referred to gets a cyber-highfive.

    "Don Barnett's Community Chapel was very blunt about the mechanics.  They put it in the Sunday bulletin. "It is a worldly concept, inspired by the devil, which makes us think it is doing someone a favor to keep their sins hidden from those who are in a position to help.  Remember we are our brother's keeper.  Please do your friends a favor when you see them making serious mistakes; tell your pastor or an elder so something can be done in time."

    Emphasis – go up, in the heirarchy, with (spying).  Comments?
