Read about Scientology’s disconnection policy. Sound familiar?

QuestioninginlaParticipantHere, let me collect those flyers that the infidels on the sidewalk are handing out.
Thank you.
See how we protect you from that dirty outside world?
Now go inside and give thanks.

I have not heard. But the relevant topics alluded to here are:
Information Control
Us vs. Them, Insider/Outsider, Inside-good/Outside-bad reinforcement.
These two reinforce each other. Information control is obtained by blaming outsiders for being (de facto) bad. Without information, outsiders are always bad and insiders always good. Remove/adjust the balance into one's favor = control.

KFParticipantwhat flyers are you guys talking about?

EmilyParticipantI heard that some former members were picketing in California and passing out flyers with some anti-info on them. No idea what the flyers said though.

EmilyParticipantRegarding information control though…
Someone posted elsewhere that the church was showing pictures of former members saying that they badmouthed zhang and threatening lawsuits. That seems like a sure fire way to prevent members from talking to those former members and actually listening to why they left.

MountainMomParticipantI have only heard of one incidence where a non member was in a physical confrontation with members, and that supposedly was over flyers being distributed in the area of the church. I heard it was in the parking lot of the church, but I can't verify. I am not sure why this person did not file a report. I did hear he was beaten very badly and lost work time as a result. That is the only one I have heard of. I really don't think the average person has any reason to be afraid of them, except for the lawsuits they use to intimidate. They don't seem to win any, but they are a tactic to shut people up, in my opinion.

I heard there was someone collecting flyers (that had been handed out) at the gate/parking lot. 2nd-hand info so take it for what it is and nothing more.
Information control? That's for each person to decide independently.
