I had a random thought. Since FTOS & other current church members have been quiet lately I was wondering if today is Ascension day. I counted on the calendar from Resurrection day March 31st til today….it’s only 39 days. I hope my thought is wrong otherwise they’ve messed up another feast calculation.

fedupmomParticipantOur son celebrated ascension day today…and for the next 10 days they will be attending services @ 5 a.m. And 8 p.m.

DisturbedParticipantWow. I’m at a loss for words. I can only guess that no one in the church is counting. How can they miss something so elementary? The Feasts are preached a lot leading up to and during the feasts.
Acts 1:3…He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
It says 40 days….not 39. Anyone care to clarify how Zhang miscalculated the most symbolic number (40) in the bible? The only logical explanation (not really) is that they didn’t want to keep the feast on preparation day? Idk.
So that means all the other feasts will be “off” as well.

gennyParticipantI know that my church will be celebrating Pentecost Sunday on May 19. So it makes sense that they are busy with ascension services.

emilParticipantWe celebrate the solemnity of Ascension of our Lord this Sunday and Pentecost on May 19th.

DisturbedParticipantI get it. The Day of Pentecost is being celebrated on Sunday May 19th so they subtracted 10 days to come up with Ascension day to be today. Epic fail!!!!

SimonParticipantMarch 31 is day 1 not day 0
May 10, 2013 at 6:09 AM #60331
SimonParticipantHe appeared over a period of forty days and since he first appeared on sunday that’s when the day counting starts

Sarah2013ParticipantThat explains why FTOS has not been available. ๐

fedupmomParticipantDo all the “Zion’s” celebrate this day in a park? What is the meaning behind this location?

Sarah2013ParticipantFTOS, I see you are back. So many questions waiting for you…. ๐

SimonParticipantIts outside because jesus appeared outside to them when he ascended

AnonymousInactiveMarch 31 and yesterday as ascension day match the Catholic observance for this year. That’s not usually the case right?
May 10, 2013 at 12:19 PM #60337
SimonParticipantIt probably is actually despite the inaccuracies in using a solar calendar Easter falls on the correct date more than it doesn’t
May 10, 2013 at 12:31 PM #60338
AnonymousInactiveOn the Wikipedia article on quartodecimanism there is a table with astronomical Easter, Gregorian Easter, and Jewish Passover. Could you take a peek at that and tell me which date you observe? Which one is solar vs lunar Easter? These calendar debates confuse me a little. Maybe because I’m bad at math? lol
May 10, 2013 at 12:36 PM #60339
AnonymousInactiveThat question was directed at Simon.

DisturbedParticipantI stand corrected since Resurrection counts at day one. At least my random thought got a good dialogue going.
May 10, 2013 at 11:34 PM #60341
SimonParticipantThat chart is weird I don't know
May 11, 2013 at 2:59 PM #60342
AnonymousInactiveOk, but weird chart aside, what day did you or would you have observed Passover/other feasts this year?

Acts 1-11
“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Gotta keep them coming back!
And make sure its early….sleep deprivation drives home the indoctrination.
