A new book on the WMSCOG from a Christian perspective

    Mmm interesting, I don't know what is actually written on this book, but I advice you to prepare yourself legally and mentally to get some HEAT from this group!!!

    Your book would clearly fall under Freedom of Speech, but WMS cares little about that.

    Meh – I’d be more interested in personal testimony of you were in th Church. To me – a former member – your book wouldnt resonate with me. You didn’t have your money taken, you weren’t sleep deprived, your kindness wasn’t taken advantage of, you never were kicked out of a mall for saying the word Bible, you never had “brothers” and “sisters” complain about you even though you did as best as you could. After being in the WMSCOG I really don’t like people all that much – both people in the WMSCOG and those outside of it.

    You were never there so your testimony means nothing.

    John, I am so sorry for what you have been through.  So many people have suffered as you have and are now having to deal with the anguish of their involvement there.  I was never a member but went to the church several times to see what they were doing there since my son asked me to go.

    Not having read Quinn's book, I can't say whether it has former member testimony in it or not, but I thank him for making the effort to write it  from his own perspective (or the Christian perspective) anyway.  I think it might be interesting to read in any case.  The more printed about this group, the better.

    I would love to see a book written with former member testimony as well, and the corresponding testimonies of their family members who were not in the wms but were forced to deal with it anyway.   Even if a family member never attended, I think their testimony means a lot.

    Look forward to reading it.  If it looks good we may order extra copies and leave them strategically placed …… if you know what I mean ….

    Missionary John could barely control himself being an advocate for 1st amendment rights – albeit just the freedom of religion part, but nonetheless it should make it harder for this group to win its litigation….

    dear leaders that peruse this site: I hope you didn't go too hard on Missionary John for going on record about how much your church supports the 1st amendment….its pretty much common knowledge that the purpose of your litigation is to shut people up; actual winning of litigation is subordinate to shutting people up.

    @JW Sometimes, its not really about the lawsuit. I dont remember the term from my studies, but often its about frustrating the persons pocket books. My job has a union. In a few cases over the years, they have fired employees violating the Union contract. In those cases the employee hired a lawyer and won, with back pay…but;

    It may take years

    Your bills keep coming

    You have to pay your lawyer(s)

    So the trick is to stall, or hurt your pockets. I think WMS knew they wouldnt beat Michelle Colon in a lawsuit. Legally also, their disclosure agreements wouldnt hold up in any court. So, they sue you or I, the regular person. No way in hell they would have gotten 20million from Michelle, but its the oldest trick of hurting someone in the wallet.

    Glad this book is finally out.  I don't know if Quinn included former member stories, but I hope so.  Even if he didn't, I'm still happy that a book is out.  Can't wait to read it.
