salvation Archives - Examining the World Mission Society Church of God An in depth look at the World Mission Society Church of God Thu, 22 Sep 2011 02:39:31 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/ex-content/uploads/2020/03/cropped-Examining-updated-favicon-32x32.png salvation Archives - Examining the World Mission Society Church of God 32 32 Questions For WMSCOG Members – Luke https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/questions-for-wmscog-members-luke/ Thu, 22 Sep 2011 02:39:31 +0000 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/questions-for-wmscog-members-luke/ I came across Luke 7:47-50 today and after reading it, I have some questions.  I will quote the verses here so that I can be clear as to why I have questions:

47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50 Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

Why was this woman saved because of faith and love alone?  Had she observed the Passover?  Did she observe the Sabbath?  The Scriptures do not even mention if this woman was a Jew or a Gentile.  It does say that she had committed many sins.  Yet Jesus said that she was saved by faith.  Do any of the WMSCOG members think that they can be saved by faith without the sabbath and other feasts?

Wow. https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/wow/ Thu, 15 Sep 2011 18:51:18 +0000 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/wow/ Every single thing I've read on this site can be disproved rather easily.

But..

One thing we all have to ask ourselves: Would you believe in the 2nd coming of Christ? Would you have believed 2,000 years ago when nobody else did? When you saw God in the flesh being treated like a scum? Or would you use your own thoughts as well as other's own thoughts to try not to believe it?

Please think about this.

If somebody truly wants to believe and is just confused, I would love to answer your questions.

To me, that doesn't seem like the case.. so it would not be worthwhile to go through and answer every single thing. Why would you try so hard to do all of this?

One answer I may receive would be about parents who have children in the COG.  When somebody told Jesus that his family members were waiting for him outside, he said "For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother." Matthew 12:50

John 1:12-13 " Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of GodYet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of GodYet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right become children born of God- children not born of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God"

It is the same now.

He was born a jew… but is God really a jew? Is that how God is identified? Is that truly who he is? Did that even matter? No. If it did matter, then God is just a jewish carpenter, and he would have parents. These things are not of importance.

Jesus's physical parents may have felt the same way as some who have children in the COG. The ways of this world make it very hard to accept these things.. but this planet is not God's Kingdom. God's Kingdom is in Heaven. Then who does this kingdom belong to?

God bless you.

Salvation : Jesus Christ or My Good Works? https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/salvation-jesus-christ-or-my-good-works/ Fri, 17 Jun 2011 12:50:21 +0000 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/salvation-jesus-christ-or-my-good-works/
If salvation is through keeping the passover and festival and doing good works and if Jesus Christ ordered us to take the bread and wine on passover day in order to be saved (as wmscog believes) then why did Jesus Christ said to the thief hanging next to Him on the cross “Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (Luke:23:43)”
That’s not fare. He (the thief) didn’t eat the passover bread and wine I guess and have done no good deeds I am sure. Then why? Why did God the Father put this scene in the last of the film? To demonstrate the essense of the story? Is the essense of the story is that salvation is not through the works but only by believing in His son (Jesus Christ)? The thief did belive in Him as he said “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. (Luke:23:42)”
Again, Why did Jesus Christ denounce the scribes and the Pharisees saying “you make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. (Luke:11:39)” .  The scribes and the Pharisees observed the Law and all the festival. Why couldn’t they be saved?
Again again, Remember the rich young man in M’t:19:16-22? What did Jesus Christ say to him when he asked “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? (M’t:19:16)” Jesus Christ said “if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.(M’t:19:17)”. In M’t:19:18, again the rich man asked “Which?” and Jesus Christ answered him “Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”  Note here, Jesus Christ does not mension the Sabbath, festivals or passover. Not even He commanded him to take passover bread and wine.
If Sabbath, festivals and Passover were so important, why didn’t Jesus Christ mesion it? And guess what, Passover and fesitivals are not even included in 10 commandments of Old Testament. Were those really so important? But yes, Sabbath is included as “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.(Ex:20:8 kjv). Hay wmscog, can I please keep other days unholy?

Did Ahnsahnghong Ever Proclaim To Be Jesus? Divine In Any Way? https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/did-ahnsahnghong-ever-proclaim-to-be-jesus-divine-in-any-way/ Thu, 02 Jun 2011 20:03:50 +0000 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/did-ahnsahnghong-ever-proclaim-to-be-jesus-divine-in-any-way/ Hello everyone,

I’m looking to see if a current WMSCOG member can help clarify this. To my knowledge Ahnsahnghong never claimed to be God in his writings. In fact, I remember reading an article (http://encountering-ahnsahnghong.blogspot.com/search/label/new%20name) with proof that Ahnsahnghong believed and wrote in one of his books that salvation is found in no other name but Jesus. If Ahnsahnghong believed that salvation was to be found only through Jesus’s name, then why does the WMSCOG believe that salvation is found in the name of Ahnsahnghong?
