Faith Archives - Examining the World Mission Society Church of God An in depth look at the World Mission Society Church of God Thu, 02 Aug 2012 08:17:33 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/ex-content/uploads/2020/03/cropped-Examining-updated-favicon-32x32.png Faith Archives - Examining the World Mission Society Church of God 32 32 "you cannot interpret on your own." https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/you-cannot-interpret-on-your-own/ Thu, 02 Aug 2012 08:17:33 +0000 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/you-cannot-interpret-on-your-own/ how many cults such as the world mission society church of god claim they are the only ones that can interpret the bible .

they also claim that as true church we are not allowed to question or investigate teachings.

what does the bible say

acts 17:11

Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

does the bible rebuke those who question the true prophet of god apostle paul or the true church which the ministered? on the contrary it called them noble.

if the bible says questioning and searching for what is true is noble how can the true church ask for no one to question or search the scriptures?

Questions For WMSCOG Members – Luke https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/questions-for-wmscog-members-luke/ Thu, 22 Sep 2011 02:39:31 +0000 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/questions-for-wmscog-members-luke/ I came across Luke 7:47-50 today and after reading it, I have some questions.  I will quote the verses here so that I can be clear as to why I have questions:

47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50 Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

Why was this woman saved because of faith and love alone?  Had she observed the Passover?  Did she observe the Sabbath?  The Scriptures do not even mention if this woman was a Jew or a Gentile.  It does say that she had committed many sins.  Yet Jesus said that she was saved by faith.  Do any of the WMSCOG members think that they can be saved by faith without the sabbath and other feasts?

Salvation : Jesus Christ or My Good Works? https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/salvation-jesus-christ-or-my-good-works/ Fri, 17 Jun 2011 12:50:21 +0000 https://www.examiningthewmscog.com/forums/topic/salvation-jesus-christ-or-my-good-works/
If salvation is through keeping the passover and festival and doing good works and if Jesus Christ ordered us to take the bread and wine on passover day in order to be saved (as wmscog believes) then why did Jesus Christ said to the thief hanging next to Him on the cross “Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (Luke:23:43)”
That’s not fare. He (the thief) didn’t eat the passover bread and wine I guess and have done no good deeds I am sure. Then why? Why did God the Father put this scene in the last of the film? To demonstrate the essense of the story? Is the essense of the story is that salvation is not through the works but only by believing in His son (Jesus Christ)? The thief did belive in Him as he said “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. (Luke:23:42)”
Again, Why did Jesus Christ denounce the scribes and the Pharisees saying “you make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. (Luke:11:39)” .  The scribes and the Pharisees observed the Law and all the festival. Why couldn’t they be saved?
Again again, Remember the rich young man in M’t:19:16-22? What did Jesus Christ say to him when he asked “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? (M’t:19:16)” Jesus Christ said “if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.(M’t:19:17)”. In M’t:19:18, again the rich man asked “Which?” and Jesus Christ answered him “Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”  Note here, Jesus Christ does not mension the Sabbath, festivals or passover. Not even He commanded him to take passover bread and wine.
If Sabbath, festivals and Passover were so important, why didn’t Jesus Christ mesion it? And guess what, Passover and fesitivals are not even included in 10 commandments of Old Testament. Were those really so important? But yes, Sabbath is included as “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.(Ex:20:8 kjv). Hay wmscog, can I please keep other days unholy?
