MountainMomParticipantAre you kidding me? I wonder if they made my son sign something like this. Why would anyone ever have to sign something like this? It can't be binding.
May 13, 2013 at 4:39 PM #53795
SimonParticipantNever signed anything like it myself for my sermon books
May 13, 2013 at 4:42 PM #53796
MountainMomParticipantDoesn't this contract make the wmscog the strictest librarians in the world? LOL!
May 13, 2013 at 4:43 PM #53797
SimonParticipantnever got sued by my library so I guess it does

MountainMomParticipantI know it's old, but I gotta say it: Conan the Librarian.

Not just that MM! Did you see the last paragraph that they slipped in there?! I decided to type it here just because it is so ridiculous and I want to save you guys the time to click on the complaint again. What does the sermon book have to due with suing the "church"?! It is pretty obvious that whoever drafted this "contract" is not a lawyer. Nice try but I think any court would laugh at this one.
i. General Agreement: By signing this Agreement, you hereby waive, release, and covenant not to sue the Church of God with respect to ANY matter/information relating to or arising out of your membership and/or attendance at the Church of God. The member agrees not to disclose any information whatsoever relating to their attendance, membership, teaching at the Church of God.

DisturbedParticipantWHAT! I hope they forged her signature so she can get them on more fraud charges! I have never seen nor signed such a document. The church has not tried to get any sermon books or any other books back from me and I dare them to try! These idiots keep digging themselves a bigger hole.
And what does this mean: By signing this Agreement, you hereby waive, release, and covenant not to sue the Church of God ????
Covenant??? Maybe they havent gotten a firm grasp of English and decided to throw that in LOL

SimonParticipantDon't think it qualifies as a contract:
No consideration seems to be granted
and surely if they teach you must preach to not be torturned forever in hell and you have to sign this contract to learn so you can preach that should qualify as durress

Good point Shim and also no attorney review

QuestioninginlaParticipantSimon knows what he is talking about; there is no consideration that I could find. No consideration = no contract.
The first thing that came to my mind when reading it is, Jesus sure did a 180 from Luke 12:3, don't you think? It appears that they want this to stay in the "inner rooms"….so the chess game continues; make those members THINK because this runs in direct contrast to Luke 12:3 and Matthew 24:26.
I suspect the legal basis is in the realm of trade secrets. Remember when Jesus patented his sermons in the New Testament?
ME NEITHER
May 13, 2013 at 8:46 PM #53804
MountainMomParticipantAnother manipulation. My son really believes they win all their lawsuits because they told him they do. So, I guess if he did ever leave the church, he would not want to speak out because he has no idea they are lying to him for intimidation purposes. It would be a while before the phobias could be purged.

ME NEITHER
*cracks my bible open and pulls a wmscog*
Mark 8:30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone..

"Well played", Simon.
I forgot that things read differently when I fail to use my thinking brain.
