“My Boyfriend Dumped Me And Was Married Off To A Member Of The WMSCOG One Month Later” – A Former Member’s Story

This true story from one of our friends who is now an ex-member of the World Mission Society Church of God has been posted here with their permission.  Here is our friend’s story in her own words:

I was raised Pentecostal/Apostolic and I was dating a guy from the World Mission Society Church of God.  He has been a member of the WMSCOG for about 2 years now.  He broke up with me because I would not convert to his religion.  I just could not enter that church!  I got such a strange and scary feeling the one time I got near it.  The Saturday after we broke up his pastor arranged for him to marry a Korean member from the church because according to him, “she would help him grow spiritually“.   I suspect that this was in order to get her US citizenship.  I mean she barely speaks English.  So he married her only one month after our break-up.  After he got married I asked him if he loved her and he responded “god the mother will bless us”.  I wouldn’t exactly take that as a yes.

I pray that he will wake up and open his eyes.  I don’t know how likely the chances are of this happening now that he has married a devoted church member.  The last few months haven’t been easy but I have prayed (to Jesus Christ) to give me the strength to move on. The Lord has blessed me since!

I have heard several similar stories about the Pastors of COG churches telling members to marry Korean women. In a COG church in Naperville, I heard that this happened, and that the Pastor was the one who recommended this. I also heard about one where the “Mother” supposedly told a fellow to marry one of the Korean women. My husband attended the Naperville Church with my son one Saturday (to see what was going on because we were concerned). He met a guy who apparently had just gotten married to a Korean lady there because, as we heard it, the Pastor said he needed to so he could grow spiritually. My husband said this guy didn’t look happy with his wife at all. She could hardly speak English, and when they literally bumped into each other in the hallway, they looked at each other, but didn’t even speak.
I do believe this is a ploy to get them citizenship, and to have marriages so that it is even more difficult to leave the church.

My boyfriend is part of WMSCOG and he’s really trying to convince me to come with him,and I have gone a few times and it doesn’t seem that bad but now that I’m reading all these stories I’m scared. I really like him but I do think know what to believe and he keeps telling me that this doubt is from Satan. What should I do?

Naomi, I am sorry to hear about your boyfriend. I am not surprised that he says that any doubts you have are “from Satan”. As you can see here in this article, this is what I was also taught when I was a member. You owe it to yourself to do your own research on this group. I hope that you find this site and the other resources suggested helpful.

This organisation nearly had me convinced in 10 minutes of meeting them that there was a Mother God and really pushed me into being baptised ASAP. No where in the Bible does it speak of a 4th God. Like most Cults they have translated the word wrong and they deceive many with their teachings, This is the works of the Antichrist Satan himself. Fortunately I never did follow them as Jesus showed me the truth. We have a friend who also got caught up with their web of lies and luckily God has slowly but surely got her free from their deception. I have learnt in my walk with God after being led away many times by false prophets and deceptive churches that I am safer at home for now watching Charles Stanley. I am growing spiritually and more grounded and feel happier. I will pray when I feel ready for the right church home but for now am happy doing what The Lord has instructed for me today. I pray that others are not deceived but this Entity.

I am a living, breathing testament that the WMSCOG is an organization that persuades loved ones to loss touch with their close spouse, or close family members. My husband was lost to the WMSCOG. PLEASE stay far away from this organization. We had a loving marriage. We were happy and newly married, just 2 years in. My husband was contacted at work by two Korean woman and had asked us if we had heard of a “heavenly mother.” My husband had many meetings with these woman and other people from the cult EVERY DAY for the next 7 days… they bombarded him. Until a couple weeks later he told me that he had been meeting with them and had wanted to get baptized. I was very surprised because he was attending our shared church with me regularly, acting as if everything was normal… 4 months later he finally decided to admit that he had converted to WMSCOG anyways even though we had decided together on him taking his time to investigate farther… the members pushed him to do it– aided and abetted him in lying to me– his own wife. He became completely obsessed with it giving up every bit of family time for a meeting or some get-together that always seemed to run his life. Not only that– but he turned on me and scoffed at me and laughed at me when I was in tears when I tried to share a spiritual relationship with him, a strong one we once had… I lost my best friend. I hope someday he will come home. We miss him, the old him, one not completely consumed with trying to prove to everyone that this destructive cult is good. I miss him so much.

It was your husband who wronged his soul. Satan is a deceiver yet he himself is not accountable over the choice man make to himself, though WMSCOG was use by Satan as instrument for deception. We human beings should always keep in mind and be on guard against our arch enemy for eversince the beginning, this chief of the Jinns already was successful in deceiving our parents Adam & Eve, and he vowed to GOD his Creator that he will attack man in front, at back, at his sides, from above and below him, and those who fall to his traps, they’ll certain surely suffer in the life hereafter. WMSCOG and the many cults are just his agents.

      Be brave and be strong.

Would it be possible for you to go to the forum and send me a private message? I have been dealing with this mind control group for over five years now, and know many people with similar stories. I am so sorry this happened to you. It is the same story over and over with this group.

Is Zahng gil jah still alive?

    1. T.H. says

We have been trying to find that out for months now. There is an article supposedly from a Korean newspaper that said she died back in June or July. No one has been able to really find out if she is still alive or in fact dead. It’s going to be mildly interesting to see the excuse that the WMSCOG comes up with when she does officially pass away.

My boyfriend has been completely brainwashed. A week ago he was approached by a member of wmscog and invited to a bible study that night. They baptized him that same night. We date long distance during the school year because we are in college still. He come home on the weekends to see me and his family. He’s always been so loving and such a good family guy. We are christian, grew in Christian schools. He’s been going to those bible studies for a week now. He’s already quit football and is distanced himself so much in just these few days. I have spoken with him over the phone and he sounds like a robot. It’s completely heart breaking how someone you love and care about just seems to be gone. His family is heartbroken about all of this. We miss him so much and just want him to come back to reality. Although when we speak he sounds tired and not happy at all. He got lured into thinking he was joining the church of God. Like a Christian denomination. He has such a God heart after God but he has been deceived and says he is convinced this is the only way to eternal life. I don’t know what to do anymore. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to face.. it’s like he’s gone. I need help. Someone please help me.

What studies have they done with him already? The Sabbath is Saturday? The beast is the Pope or the Catholic church? Both of these studies are heavily flawed. Get him to do some research outside of this group! He’s going to discover that they lied to him! If he’s not too far in then this should bring him out. He also needs to discover that Ahn was a Buddhist prior to becoming a Seventh Day Adventist. Would God ever worship a false god? Absolutely Not!

      1. Hefzyba says

They have done all of those. He still keeps daily contact with me . Calls me everyday and talks to his family. The first week he was short to communicate with us but now he’s back to normal on how he communicates with me. I’m wondering if they will soon tell him to cut all communication with us. Although he did inform me that he is going to stay in that city to keep attending that church. He wants to stay together and has also promised not to try in converting me to this religion.. he has been very respectful about not pushing on me. Which I’m just curious if this is normal behavior for someone involved in this? I will try and talk him into doing some research outside of the group.
I’m trying to keep contact with him and be as loving as possible. His family as well. Trying to be his friend and keep that trust between us. I will talk to him about doing some research out side the group. Hopefully I can get him to see the truth!

I hope you have lots of success with this. Do some prep work yourself as well. A lot of these teachings come directly from the Seventh Day Adventist group. The whole Roman Catholic Empire thing is riddled with flaws. Why would anyone misquote facts if they were not trying to manipulate somehow. Show him that this group has everything to gain from manipulating him while at the same time you don’t have anything to gain except knowing that he is no longer being manipulated. Keep loving him and keep the communication flowing.

Hefzyba, what you are doing is good. Your boyfriend is not in too far, so you have a good chance to talk to him now. This time is crucial. Be assured, even though he is not trying to convert you now, he will in the future. They (the leaders) will insist on that eventually. Their thinking changes because of the demands on their time and the only influence they have is that of the church/members/leaders.

What I see happening as their membership goes on, is a lot of mid directed anger. The members profess to be so happy, but they are not at all after the initial honeymoon period. They can’t show their unhappiness or anger at church or to leaders or members, so they take it back to their families. Even those who marry other devout members seem to have an underlying unhappiness and anger issues. They can’t attribute it to the church, so they misdirect it to their mates. It’s very sad. I hope your boyfriend won’t try to misdirect his anger to you, but I would be on the lookout and be prepared to deal with it in the best way possible.

Well in South Africa these guys seem to be growing fast. I don’t know how I was not deceived by them. I was sitting in their church, the day after their passover this year, I don’t even know how allowed then to baptize me. They got me . Anyway As we were singing their hymns, their hymn was like “ahn sahng hong our father”. I ignored it cause I thought it was like father in a sense that he found church, and I also saw an old lady in one of their pictures (you can see she’s leading them somehow in the picture, if you don’t know who mother is) . Later that day my friend was talking about the passover, and said “luckily mother allowed the second passover. I have to get my whole family here, otherwise they won’t be saved.”. That’s when I connected the dots, and immediately knew he talking about the old lady. I went to do research when I got to my flat later that day, on simple things like elohim. It’s funny cause even false Gods they use elohim in the Bible translated from Hebrew. Also the lords prayer, “Says our father”. When you show them the evidence, they end confusing you with scriptures. These guys can get you if you don’t double check. My friend is in deep. He doesn’t double check, cause they warned us not to. So he’s still in there.

    1. T.H. says

That is the biggest thing they have going for them. They are able to spoon feed someone their spin and call it the “truth”. The new convert is so confused and overwhelmed they don’t know who to trust. This group tells them things like, “You’ve been lied to by other churches for your entire life! Don’t even talk to those deceivers. They are followers of lies and the father of lies is Satan! All of the other churches are following Satan.” Then they continue to tell them that they love them and that mother loves them blah, blah, blah. If people would simply do some research prior to committing to this group they would save themselves and their loved ones a lot of grief and torment. I’m glad you had enough sense to look at these things for yourself without allowing them to just spoon feed you everything they wanted you to believe. Well done.

Good day everyone. I’m from the Philippines. I am trying to convince my girlfriend that what she’s currently involved in is a cult. She’s a member for two months now and encourages me to join the church. Two months ago she and her grandmother were invited by members who go door to door and asked them if they believe in mother God and then brought them to the said church and got baptized immediately. She didn’t told me that she was baptized that same day and I was shocked. They claim that the second coming Christ was Ahn Sahng Hong. It was quite fishy the moment she told me that. She and her grandmother were baptized in the name of Ahn Sahng Hong! Then she encouraged me to join them and was inviting me to events like the Sabbath and Passover but I lowkey refused. She offered me time to study the bible with her and I agreed. To my surprise she showed me not a bible but a book like the one showed in the video, only thinner because it was divided into 12 books I think. But the first one is about the Elohim God. She lend me that book and I read that at home and as I was reading it i was like, “hmm, makes sense.” I admit I was not a bible person and I have not formally read the bible yet. I return the book to her after I finished it. Because I’m curious who that Ahn Sahng Hong is, I googled his name, and to my shock, he is a person! I also found various articles claiming that the wmscog is a cult and ASH is a false Christ! I told her what I saw and showed that to her. She was in shock too. I told her she was brainwashed. Minutes later, she told me not to judge them ‘cause I’m not a member yet and encouraged me to come to that church. She told me that it is rude to call them a cult because back in the day Jesus was also considered a cult and is falsely judged by the religious leaders. Then I realized, it was indeed rude, and I said okay. However, I am not convinced yet. I searched a little more and I stumbled upon the videos from Mark Winger. The first two. You know the truth about ASH and God the mother. I showed it to her but she refused to watch it and told me to stop. She told me that she’s not brainwashed. I stopped. I tried to believe her. Then comes another. She showed me another book. The second book tells about the Sabbath. Hmm okay Saturday Sabbath blah blah, and I was like hmm makes sense to me. I believed. Few days later, I was bored. I don’t have anything to do. I then again searched the net for proof that wmscog is false. I found a website with stories about former members of the church. I read those stories. I looked further. Evidences that prove God the mother is not true and ASH is a fraud and the that they twist the scriptures. I saved that for later use. I told myself this is a strong evidence. Earlier this evening (it’s currently 3 am here in the Philippines) I told her to just listen to what I say. I told her “I know we’ve argued about this before, but please listen to me this time”. “Please leave the wmscog” I told her. She went furious. She asked me what happened to me. Do I not believe in God the mother? I said I used to but now I don’t. She told me to stay away from her. I said I am doing it for her. She replied asking why do I try to keep her away from the true church. I was scared. The conversation went to a break up situation. I don’t want that to happen. I love her very much. I plan to make her watch this video (https://youtu.be/5jRFNZeu9qM) but I know she will refuse. Please help me. I’m scared of losing her to this church.

“I am a Catholic. When I was in 7th grade, a Korean guy courted me, but I didn’t want to date at such a young age. We became official when I was in 9th grade. Later, I found out that he is a member of the World Mission Society Church of God. I didn’t break up with him immediately because he was deeply in love with me and promised to leave the organization for me. However, I was afraid that they would ruin my life, so I ultimately decided to break up with him and let him remain a member of the church. I cried all night after the breakup.”
