The World Mission Society Church of God claims that a Korean man named Ahn Sahng Hong was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ (incidentally this is the same claim the Unification Church makes about their Korean founder named Sun Myung Moon).
Ahn Sahng Hong wrote several books. In them, he makes a number of claims. What is striking is that (in the opinion of the author) he never actually claimed to be Jesus Christ (interestingly, he even predicted the return of Jesus Christ). Moreover, he quotes the Bible, but actually quotes it wrong. The table below cites a few examples of Ahn Sahng Hong saying the Bible says one thing, when it actually says another. These are no small mistakes either, like interpretation differences. These are cold-hard blatant errors. We should ask ourselves “if Jesus Christ returned would He misquote the Bible?”
2 Timothy 2:15 tells us to be a worker who “correctly handles the word of truth.” How has Ahn Sahng Hong mishandled God’s word? Let us look at just a few examples from his works.
Mistakes by Ahn Sahng Hong in his book The Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life include:
| Ahn Sahng Hong says | but Scripture says |
| Jesus entered the Most Holy Place in heaven for the second time on October 22… 1844 … p. 61 | 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. -Hebrews 9:12 |
| Although the people of Judah seemed like they were observing God’s laws, they neither realized the Passover, the greatest commandment in the Law, nor kept it. -p. 105 | 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. Matthew 22:37-38 |
| Ordinary people are the angels, or the holy people of heaven, who sinned and were born as men; they were driven out from heaven because they rebelled against God, being tempted by Satan. Among them, some sinned unintentionally, being tempted, and were unjustly accused and hurled to the earth. -p. 337 | 4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. Deuteronomy 32:4 |
| Jesus Christ went up to the temple and preached every day during the Feast of Tabernacles,… -p. 465 | 14 Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach. -John 7:14 |
| Even Egyptians who put the lamb’s blood on their houses, were saved. -p. 449 | 30 Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead. – Exodus 12:30 |
Mistakes by Ahn Sahng Hong in his book Visitors from the Angelic World include:
| Ahn Sahng Hong says | but Scripture says |
| “Therefore ‘ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent in heaven’ in Luke 15:7″ -p. 22 | 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.-Luke 15:7 |

To be continued…
This is an EXCELLENT resource for me and my family as we try to combat my brother’s continual insistance that the WMSCOG is the way. Can you help me find where Ahnsahnghong’s writings are? Can I order them somewhere so I can be more prepared? Do you have more of his falsities debunked? If so can you pass them along? This site is a real help to me and I really appreciate you taking the time to help. I am curious, why did you get involved with this process of disproving them?
Hi Katie,
Thank you for your kind words on our article. Yes, the WMSCOG says that their founder Ahnsahnghong was the second coming of Jesus Christ, but not only does Ahn makes no such claim in his writings, but he actually contradicts the Bible as you read above. Now, how can God contradict Himself? It simply isn’t possible. So either Scripture is right or Ahnsahnghong is right, but it can’t be both.
Not only does Ahnsahnghong do violence to the Scriptures in his own writings, but the church he founded, the WMSCOG, preaches things contrary to what Ahnsahnghong wrote. I don’t think I can underscore that point enough:
Here you have the founder who contradicts the Bible, and the church that contradicts the founder.
Where does that leave you? Can you still believe it to be truth? I think the mistakes and contradictions are all too evident, and others are spotting these problems as well as you can read about in Top 10 Reasons People Cease to Believe in the WMSCOG
Now, there are other sections of the site you may find useful. Many of the WMSCOG’s doctrine is refuted in our Evidence section. We also have a forum. There is even a Facebook group for family members and former members that I would recommend joining. Another good site with lots of biblical arguments is: http://encountering-ahnsahnghong.blogspot.com/
As to finding Ahnsahnghong’s books, you can usually only get them from a WMSCOG “church”. They are quite hard to come by, but they can be had. We get our copies from former members. If you live in Korea, then Ahnsahnhong’s books are available from the public library.
Why did we get involved? There are many reasons. You can read our mission statement here, but in short, as a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe that the WMSCOG preaches blasphemy.
How can I get a copy of ASH’s books? Can you send a copy via email?
Hi Devlin,
As to finding Ahnsahnghong’s books, you can usually only get them from a WMSCOG “church”. They are quite hard to come by, but they can be had. We get our copies from former members. If you live in Korea, then Ahnsahnhong’s books are available from the public library.
We do not have permission to re-distribute the books, but pertinent portions are periodically cited on this site in our research which is covered under the copyright fair use clause.
Thanks..
Admin it is so clear that… [debate moved by admin to the forum at this thread]
Heb 9:12 speaks about the first time God entered the most holy place (to pour out the Holy Spirit on the apostles) He has to do it again according to the prophecy of the feasts. Moses receiving the ten commandments represents Christ being preached to the gentiles. Moses breaking the tablets because of idolatry represents the Church being plunged into the dark ages due to them not following God. The second time Moses received the tablets, shows that the truth must be restored (starting in 1844).
The first and greatest commandment is not having any other gods before God. This is loving God through Passover as all gods are judged. There are many instances in history, recorded in the Old testament, where leaders would break down idols in God’s temple after celebrating Passover. God describes them as loving God with all their heart, soul, and strength as they pleased Him by destroying the detestable thing that stood in between God and his people.
Also, falling into Satan’s temptation is sin, that is why we are here. Both Jesus and AhnSahngHong explain that there are intentional sinners, and unintentional.
Jesus began teaching in the temple courts halfway through the feast. Jesus always preached in his free time…
Lastly, Rom6:23 explains that sin leads to death. Everyone on earth dies. Everyone is a sinner. Righteous people aren’t on earth. They are in heaven.
STOP taking ting out of context and leading people astray. Obviously, you haven’t studies much and decided to rip on facts that you were confused about without actually seeing what scriptures said. I didn’t include scripture to support my claims because I don’t want to argue with you. If you want me to take the time, I can write them all down so everyone can see how you are desperately trying disprove something in fear that is absolute.
In response to Hebrews 9:12, it states that Jesus entered the “Most Holy Place once for all”. You state that, “He has to do it again according to the prophecy of the feasts”. Please provide Biblical support for this.
Please provide Biblical support for the following statements as well: ”Moses receiving the ten commandments represents Christ being preached to the gentiles. Moses breaking the tablets because of idolatry represents the Church being plunged into the dark ages due to them not following God. The second time Moses received the tablets, shows that the truth must be restored (starting in 1844)”.
Please provide Biblical support for your second paragraph regarding the Passover being the first commandment.
As far as people sinning intentionally and unintentionally, the point being made here is that Ahnsahnghong states that those that sinned unintentionally were “unjustly accused…and hurled to the earth”. Ahnsahnghong is saying that there were sinners in heaven that were falsely accused, but punished anyway. This contradicts the Bible, because God is just (Deuteronomy 32:4) and all-knowing.
You stated that “Jesus began teaching in the temple courts halfway through the feast”, but Ahnsahnghong states in The Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life on p. 465 that “Jesus Christ went up to the temple and preached every day during the Feast of Tabernacles,… -p. 465″. So you two are not in agreement. John 7:10 even tells us that “…after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret“. Therefore, if Jesus was traveling to the feast “in secret“, then he was not preaching on His way there. It can not be both. You might also be interested in this former member’s testimony to see what a WMSCOG pastor’s response was to the same question. I would appreciate your input on this.
Romans 6:23 is not addressed in this article. Did you mean to post about this under a different article?
Adam, I would appreciate it if you were not disrespectful in your comments. How do you support your accusation that I am “leading people astray”? How do we and our readers know that it isn’t you that is doing just that? In the Biblical Misinterpretations section, we have pointed out numerous verses that the WMSCOG takes out of context and you have yet to refute one. Lastly, I am not desperately “trying to disprove” anything out of fear. I know that it must be difficult for you to imagine that there is even a shred of inconsistency in what you have been taught by the WMSCOG. I also had the same difficulty when I first started having doubts. We all have choices to make. Are you in complete control of your own choices and decisions? If you take a step back and really look at the material with an open mind, I am confident that you will do the right thing. The truth can always stand up to questioning, and if it can’t, then it simply isn’t the truth.
Adam, I totally agree with you. This article shows the writer’s ignorance about Bible and the truth. He interpreted what the scriptures say by his own way, which cannot be acceptable.
I would recommend anyone who doubt about Christ Ahnsanghong and WMSCOG to visit here; http://wmscog.org.
It will show you correct answers to your questions.
Isaac thank you for commenting.
Your response though, just shows another example of how members of your organization cannot refute any of the blatant contradictions between your founder and the Bible. Instead you make empty statements like “He interpreted what the scriptures say by his own way”. That means nothing. Other members have done the same as we have pointed out here. Show some actual Biblical proof to back up what you think is an error. And by the way, we have visited your site and it’s let’s just say, less than impressive. Your organization has over a dozen sites with the same exact repetitious ramble all over the internet. Just because you say the same thing over and over again doesn’t make it true. But then again, that’s how you learn your scripted Bible studies…countless hours of repetition, repetition, repetition.
round and round we go…
ladies and gentlemen, please observe the circular reasoning of WMSCOG members:
WMSCOG: “you can not use your own mind to interpret the Bible”
You: You’re using your own mind to interpret it.
WMSCOG: “No i’m not, I’m using God’s”
You: How do you know that person who told you they were God is really God?
WMSCOG: “Because they fulfilled the Scriptures, so they have to be God”.
You: How do you know they fulfilled the Scriptures?
WMSCOG: “Because it says right here in the Bible…”
You: You just used your own mind to interpret the Scriptures!
It’s self-defeating. I don’t know why you can’t see that at some point you used your own mind.. either to interpret the verses, or to assent to them being your god.. and if your own mind can be wrong, it could have been wrong when you gave them your allegiance.
In my own opinion… I think Ansanghong misinterpreted the Bible because he is Korean and MIGHT not be that good in ENGLISH. What is not funny about this is that his followers have actually deceived people who are well-versed in English.
I really want to leave this church… But, I’m having a hard time in trying to leave because i build already friendships to the members of WMSCOG… And they know my address and always visit me. And they are conducting also bible study in my house… Due to some contradictions in the bible and their doctrine, i decided that i have to come back in my old faith, that Jesus is the only savior! nothing else. But, I’m having a hard time right now, on how i can leave this church. I try to ask many questions on them but they have the answer always. And they are also telling me that if i have questions, i will just ask them, and no one else.
You are just going to have to be hard. That nice stuff they do in front of you is fake. They know people are inherently prone not to offend someone they perceive is trying to be nice to them, thus they lay on heavy all the fake smiles and hand waves. Understand here and now that it’s fake. The friendships you have are built on sand and will not stand the test of time because you know in your heart that something doesn’t feel right to you. The only real friend you’ll find is one that will come with you. Best wishes to you.
